  1. Injury bug is doing its damndest to bring the Mets to earth. Alonso got plunked for the 7th time this season last night and got nailed on the wrist. X-rays were negative, but they're still looking at it. Marte tweaked a quad last night. Scherzer and deGrom have obviously been out. McCann, too. They've done well without Scherzer, deGrom and McCann - but any extended absences from Alonso and/or Marte will definitely concern me.
  2. I've been doing the same calculation/projection for the Mets. As of now, if they play .500 ball the rest of the way, they'll have 90 wins. When that number reaches 100, then I'll feel comfortable with the lead they have in the division. Yankees are kicking ass, as they should be.
  3. No time for a summer friend No time for the love you send Seasons change and so did I You need not wonder why You need not wonder why There's no time left for you No time left for you
  4. Saw it last night. LOVED IT. I am no Tom Cruise fan, but I think he did a great job. I agree with Crisp that they did a great job giving us the right amount of nostalgia without going over the top with it - which would have been easy to do. It's definitely a movie that needs to be seen on the big screen, indoors. It's also showing at our local drive-in theater, but I would highly recommend seeing this on inside on the big screen. Good stuff and I'm glad I went.
  5. When it was announced that Alex Rodriguez was trying to buy the Mets, I told everyone I know that if that had happened, I was going to be a Red Sox fan until he was no longer in the mix ... and man, I meant it. If the Bills ever signed a sexual predator scumbag like Watson, I probably would have gone to the Giants, since they're closest to me, geographically and I could never root for the Jets. No way I'd support any team that signed that piece of crap.
  6. Please stay on topic. If you want to talk about Katherine Hepburn, then start your own damn thread.

  8. I love you for keeping this thread alive.
  9. Get yourself cooler Lay yourself low Coincidental murder With nothing to show When the judge's constipation Go to his head And his wife's aggravation You're soon enough dead It's the same old story Same old song and dance, my friend
  10. I loved Wilander. Fantastic player and that was, by far, my favorite era of tennis.
  11. California sunlight Sweet Calcutta rain Honolulu starbright The song remains the same
  12. But to your point ... there's definitely a significant gap in the level of talent between 1-2 in the world and 8-10 in the world.
  13. Seriously. That's a ***** up line to draw in the sand.
  14. I get what you're saying, but I think it's fair to say that the list of players that she's supposed to beat and supposed to lose to is changing each year, with the list of those she's supposed to lose to getting significantly smaller. Consistently average tennis players don't get into the top 10 of the world.
  15. All we hear is radio ga ga Radio goo goo Radio ga ga All we hear is radio ga ga Radio blah blah Radio, what's new? Radio, someone still loves you
  16. Someone found a letter you wrote me on the radio And they told the world just how you felt It must have fallen out of a hole in your old brown overcoat They never said your name, but I knew just who they meant
  17. QBs are who draws viewership. Like in baseball ... all the chicks dig the long ball. Sports organizations protect their cash cows. Everyone else is just the supporting cast.
  18. I think Boone was the absolute worst hire they could have made. Zero experience. Relies solely on analytics. That's simply not a good hire. I HATED when the Mets would hire rookie managers. Willie Randolph was the worst. Christ, I'm getting angry just typing his name (in this context). Mets were absolutely blessed when Beltran got roped into the cheating scandal. Rojas, God bless him, was thrown into the fire too quickly and I really do hope he gets another chance someday. He was just not ready to take on a team in the Big Apple. Boone has no business being the manager of a team like the Yankees. If I were a Yankees fan, I'd be pissed.
  19. I'll say this ... if the living Steinbrenners actually want to win more than the regular season, they should shitcan Boone and get Girardi back, like yesterday. George would never had let him go.
  20. I'm not taking anything away from what they're doing. They're beating the teams they should beat, as well as beating some good teams. Same with the Mets. The Yankees, on paper, is stacked. I will give credit to the bench players filling in. They've been doing a great job. We saw the same with the Mets back in 2015, when they went to the World Series. And I agree ... they are a very good team. With that roster, they should be. But Yankees fans MUST be in "show me the baby," mode by now. As a Mets fan, I am there, too. The money has been spent. The roster is solid. Now make it happen. Some Yankees fans think I'm pooping on the Yankees. I am not. I'm just calling a spade a spade. They've had a pretty fluff schedule. The Mets' schedule has been nearly as fluff. Both teams are doing what they need to do.
  21. What's this "we" stuff? You live in the U.K., and @GoBills808lives on some third world pacific island.
  22. Nor did I. That is heavy.

  24. Why are you afraid to finish these? "Stepmom" shouldn't be a filtered word.
