  1. Yeah, the Braves have been hot for quite a while. Remember ... they had that 14-game winning streak early in the season and the Mets were still able to keep hold of the division. They are a solid team. Mets have the 3rd easiest schedule in the league for September. August has been a brutal stretch, but the Mets have done well. Marte is on friggin' fire. I love that they brought Baty up. Kid looks like he's 12, LOL. Would love to see him stay up permanently. We'll see what happens if/when Escobar and/or Guillorme come back. I don't know what's keeping them from bringing Francisco Alvarez up. Michael Perez is almost an automatic out. Terrible, terrible hitter.
  2. Sadly, Millbank passed away. I also recently learned that Meathead passed away.
  3. Pretty top notch journalism. Brandon Beane moved up in the draft; other GMs were upset. Riveting.
  4. I used to reserve a room for the first four to five weekends of the season, since I know which game I'm going to (which is usually their second home game) - then cancel the rooms that no longer apply after the schedule comes out. The last couple years, I've gambled and just got the room as soon as the schedule came out and ended up saving money getting the non-refundable rate.
  5. Why do you hate emoticons??
  6. I think there is an abundance of fans who can afford it; as well as an abundance of fans who would have no problem using HELOC or credit cards to scratch the itch. Personally, I'm not in either category.
  7. Jimmy Buffet is horrible.
  8. Well, it's gonna be me, my girlfriend and my 19-year-old son ... but I think we can make it work.
  9. I've always figured that by the time the new stadium is built, I'd be priced out. But it's becoming pretty clear that I'll be priced out way before the new stadium comes to fruition. I paid $633 for three 300-level seats for the Week 5, second home game of the season, game vs. Pittsburgh. That's pretty goddamn crazy. I'm not mad about it. We all knew it was coming. But it does make me sad.

  15. One of the many beautiful things about music ... it's all about how/what each individual feels when they listen to it!

  17. This past Wednesday (8/17) we went to see Loverboy, Styx and REO at SPAC (Saratoga Springs, NY). Loverboy was surprisingly good. I had literally zero interest in catching their set, but alas, we all made our way in before they began. Mike Reno - now 67 and twice the size of his younger self - was pretty much a statue for the 45 minutes they played. Didn't matter, though. They sounded great and played a ton of familiar hits. Even though he was stuck in cement, the band managed to engage the crowd. I was surprised at how many people were already in their seats/on the lawn when they began. The crowd was TOTALLY into them and it was pretty cool to see. Styx was phenomenal. Tommy Shaw - now 68 - continues to drink from the fountain of youth. His voice has not taken one hit. The Dennis DeYoung replacement dude (Lawrence Gowan) is absolutely fantastic. Hard to believe he's been their guy for over 20 years now. He does every DeYoung song justice and has an amazing stage presence. The only lowlight of their hour-long set was Mr. Roboto, which it appears they don't play every night. Lucky me. I hate that ***** song. Other than that, they easily stole the night. REO was very good ... but I felt disappointed. They played some crappy and unfamiliar songs throughout the middle of their set and the vibe wasn't great. This was my second time seeing REO and Styx together (first time was nearly 20 years ago). At the first show, Journey was the headliner (yuck); REO opened and Styx played second. REO stole that show without a doubt. Maybe it was because it was a shorter set and they left the crap out. But, all in all, they were very good. Kevin Cronin - now 70 - still has pipes and a ton of energy. We actually left before they were done, which sucked because I didn't get to hear Roll With the Changes (my favorite REO tune). We had endured enough pouring rain for the evening (had lawn seats) and decided to get out early. Bottom line ... I'd definitely recommend catching this show if you can get decently-priced tickets. Great nostalgia. Great tunes. FANTASTIC people watching. A bunch of boomers and Gen Xers partying like it's 1989. Good stuff.
  18. I could not (respectfully) disagree with this more. He is probably the worst frontman I've ever seen live and his voice never comes close to pulling off a blues vibe.
  19. A nice segue to get back on topic ... Chicken wings. Chicken wings are awesome.
  20. Bless their little hearts.
  21. Why not? Is that some sign of immaturity or something?
  22. A friend of mine was telling me about this documentary just the other night. Said it was great. Apparently, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo (now a transgender woman going by Naya) went through great lengths to pull the catfishing off. Pretty twisted. https://nypost.com/2022/08/17/how-i-catfished-manti-teo-and-changed-our-lives-forever/
  23. Same will happen with gas. When gas gets down to $3.99/gallon, we're all going to think that's cheap, when just a couple years ago, we were paying less than $3/gallon. I think $16 for 10 wings is generally going to remain the norm moving forward. Mind f*ckery.
  24. You're a real tough cookie With a long history Of breaking little hearts like the one in me That's okay, lets see how you do it Put up your dukes, let's get down to it
