I think this was a classic "letdown" series. Not typical of the Mets this season (I give all the credit to Buck), but they certainly played down to their opponents in the WAS series. The Nationals have the worst record in all of MLB. The Braves are not letting up. The lead is now down to one game. I, too, have full confidence in the team. But they can't lose any more series for the remainder of the season if they want to hold onto first place. The Dodgers have been sliding. They're now 7 games up on the Mets for the best record in the NL. Chasing that should be the Mets' goal. I'm hoping the WAS series was a little wake up call. This was a series in which we saw Jeff McNeil make fielding errors in back-to-back games. That is CRAZY. Hopefully the rain day gave them some needed rest and some time to get their focus back. A sweep of the Pirates would make me feel a hell of a lot better.

2022 U.S. Open - Jessica Pegula (8) Loses to Świątek (1) in Quarterfinals 😭

Iga Świątek (1) up next. Wednesday. -
Of course. I think that goes without saying. It’s always the family’s choice. That’s why the every day Joe often doesn’t put the cause of death in the obituary for suicides and overdoses. Im not criticizing the family for not broadcasting the cause of death. But to somehow find it disrespectful to discuss, ask or speculate on a fan forum is silly. No one is being disrespected.

People wanting to know how this kid died has nothing to do with being famous, privacy, or anything else. It’s just curiosity. It’s human nature. When someone dies prematurely or unexpectedly, we all want to know how. It doesn’t matter if it’s an old high school friend, a co-worker, or the brother of our favorite NFL team’s tight end. I want to know how Luke Knox died. I want to know how my high school classmate, Bill, died and my buddy Angus died. We all do. And there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s not like people are knocking on the Knox’s door asking them. If they don’t want to say, then fine. That’s their right. But people need to stop busting the balls of others who wonder how the kid died. Fact is - everyone wants to know.

Omar Hakim with Rush at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute
Gugny replied to Draconator's topic in Off the Wall
I was fortunate enough to see Omar Hakim as part of Sting’s band during his 1987 tour. RPI Field House in Troy, NY. Max. capacity about 5,000 and I distinctly remember the ticket (decent seat) costing $19. Branford Marsalis and Kenny Kirkland were also in the band. Phenomenal.- 1 reply

That is really interesting. I was always the exact opposite. The more people, the more relaxed and energized (if that makes sense) I always was. Glad you had a successful gig and got your name out there!!!

Hotel California is one of dozens of hits that made the Eagles rich. Most were written by Frey and/or Henley. If there was most-expendable original member, it was Felder. I will agree that they (original lineup) all seem(ed) like d!cks.

I cannot figure out how to do this parlay.

Jane Fonda, 84, revealed that she’s been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Through entertainment and activism, she’s been a major contributor to society and I wish her well. https://www.cnn.com/2022/09/02/entertainment/jane-fonda-non-hodgkins-lymphoma/index.html

This is a great testimonial! Does your daughter choose to live at home because it's her comfort zone, or would she struggle living on her own?

Beane addresses the 53- man roster decisions

That would seem to make sense; 3 O, 3 D, and Josh. Surprised they wouldn't stick Poyer or Hyde in there. -
Tom Brady Away From Bucs to "Deal With Some Personal Things"
Gugny replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall
I have never had a problem with Tom Brady on or off the field. I can't wait to see/hear him in the booth. Smart dude with a great sense of humor. I don't care that he's got hair plugs. I don't care that he's had plastic surgery. I don't hold it against him that he has completely owned the Bills. That's on the Bills to be better. He's just been doing his job (better than anyone else in the history of the game). I've loved watching the guy sling it for his entire career. It's a clinic every time he takes the field. It's great football. Do I root for him to win? Not on your life. But I have zero disdain for the guy. It's not his fault the Bills took 20 years to find a QB.- 256 replies

While I'm not a huge fan of Buck/Aikman, I will opine that they are a MASSIVE upgrade over the crap that's been jammed into our ears over the past couple decades. Especially since ESPN took the reigns. Pure garbage.

When dining out, why do we ask for the check, when it's actually a bill?

Beane has made plenty of mistakes; but he's also done many great things. I personally love the guy and think he's at/near the top of his craft. But OL and WR have been semi-neglected coming into this season. We're also fresh off a KC loss that, in my opinion, was SQUARELY on McDermott. So, as a duo, they've made recent mistakes and historically, they've also made some whoppers (Nate Peterman painfully comes to mind). But like you said, no HC/GM duo is perfect.

I agree that McDermott/Beane have made mistakes. I am interested to see the six GM/HC combos who you think are better, though.
