Good game guys. I don’t think either side saw a score like that one. I have enjoyed posting with you this week and will continue to check in here, especially since ya’ll will be playing the rest of our division. I still like what I see with Edwards but he needs more help up front than he is getting right now. Your defense has plenty of promise. Someone asked me what kind of D can cause Drew to have a bad game. Well there you saw it. Good luck with the rest of your season. You play one hell of a division but you a good young team. Street

we are very happy with him so far. He was going to be played plenty at DE until Grant and Smith were allowed to play. He is now playing all along the line. So far, he is playing at a level for the Saints that will get him on the field one way or another.

thanks Gordio. I decided before I joined I would post after the game. I like the Bills as I do any small market team and either way, we will all be pulling for each other outside of this game since we have to handle the rest of the division for each other. thanks Lurking. That Panthers game was the one I couldnt (or wouldnt) remember. Goes back to what I said. I think a good running game and slow possesions are the best defense on Brees
-
I didnt tell you Brees didnt have a bad game. I said I cant remember. I do remember a game where he had a terrible start and finished "ok", I think it was one of the Tampa games but I dont remember exactly. We were average at best last year I agree but if you want to pin that on the guy who was 1 pass away from the all time passing record then you are taking a diferent aproach than anyone else. I do think that the fact that Brees "had" to throw so much or that Payton chose to is a key part of the problem but he didnt have many bad games and I just dont remember which they were. I can say this, there wernt any games that we hung the loss on him. In other words if there were ones that I dont remember, then there were too many other things going wrong for him to take much blame.

to be honest Steve, I cant remember any games where I thought Drew was just having a bad day but maybe its just selective memory. Thats not to say we didnt have bad offensive days but I remember more days where it seemed more a thing where Payton got to cute. Last year our run blocking stunk early on but after Nesbit got suspended in the starcaps mess, they put in Carl Nicks who as mentioned above is a beast. Both of our Guards are. Drew shakes off bad plays as good as anyone Ive seen. We went so long without a good QB that it seemed like a dream for us to have such luck to get him and have the shoulder do so well. I know you have been through some of the same and have to be happy with what Edwards has done and continues to do for you. I think your best defense to use on Drew will be your running back to be honest.

thanks Edwards arm and San Jose. I may have missed some but what i saw I will try to answer. BuffOrange, Our O-line is good and has been together in most part for several years so they are on the same page. Pass blocking is always good and run blocking has gotten better. Having said that we are without our probowl LT Brown for a few more weeks but his replace has played ok. Brees is so good IMO because of his ability to see the whole field. As far as weapons, Colston is not the only real one. Drew has confidence in everyone they send on the field and will throw to all of them. Even Henderson who used to get droppsies has been catching well. I agree San Jose that wind will kill a passing attack. They are capable of plenty of dink and dunk that could offset that. I am very interested in your pass rush. Edwards arm said it is hit and miss. I think we are fine up the middle but Im worried about the corner rush. Who brings it and who doesnt?
-
It sounds like Lance will play. It was a very slight hammy. I wouldnt say Lance is a non factor at all as sure handed as he is. He catches better than anyone but Colston. But there are enough weapons that if he isnt 100 percent they wont have to play him. Henderson and Meach are much faster than he is.

Ah, now there is an interesting question. Ive heard it argued both ways. Some say it will slow any offense down while others say that wide recievers get an advantage in their cuts since they know where they are going and the defensive backs do not. Drew hasnt seen much weather in the pros but he did play at Purdue. I for one am glad we are playing you guys in Sept instead of December to tell you the truth.

SouthGeorgia, I do think we will beat Atlanta but it will be tough. I think we will split with them head to head but they got the tougher schedule. They are well coached Ill say that. Our two teams always play each other tough even when one of the teams is bad and one is good. Those long time rivals run deep dont they.

they are going to play him at corner at least for a year or so. He came to camp late and hasnt won the nickle yet though he may by seasons end. He has been making his mark on special teams - one of the only guys who has.

whipped in the playoffs?

Heyward was a piece of work. You are going back some to get to him though. He died of cancer a few years ago
-
thanks for that break down South Georgia. You may be right about most of that but I dont think our defense is 38 points bad. We are no better than middle of the pack D right now but most of the opinions you here from the National media are based on what they saw last year. They are capable of some stops and there are plenty of good players on our D. That is why I say shoring up our ST units is so important. If you get to 38 points, it isnt going to all come from your offense IMHO. I am concerned about your running attack and will be interested to see how we stand up up front. You couldnt tell much with Staford in game one and the stuff that the Eagles threw at us was crazy. They had some formations that looked like college ball. I give it to them for being that creative but it didnt pay off in the end.

Thomas is a good back although he gets banged up too much. He is probably really close to 100% right now and probably would have played last week if not for how good Bell has done. Though Im not a huge Reggie Bush fan, I expect this will be the first breakout game for him this year. Reggie and good TE play go hand in hand becuase one opens up the other by clearing guys out of the way. We havnt been able to throw a screen pass for about 3 years now but it looks like they have finally got it down and if they cant run into the gut of your line then they will use the short passes as an extention of the run. That is what works best for Bush anyway.

I am aware that Bobby April is great. He is from here and coached our ST although it was a horrible time for us under Duh Coach. I was watching the fumble and I know it hurt fans but a brain freeze in the heat of the moment is easier to correct than the continued poor play that the Saints have shown so far on coverage teams.
-
reading clippings is a concern but the coaches are mindful of it and the players are at least talking like they are not but its bound to let them down in some game this year. now there is something I didnt think I would see this offense called this year. I get you point though. We have a few guys to put back there. We will generate enough running game to not be considered one dimensional.
-
thanks again everyone. Yes Eball it is fun pulling for them. It is still strange for me because coming up watching the Saints it was always Defense and ball control on O with more running. When we had the dome patrol in the early 90's now that was fun to go to games since you can participate on defense more. One thing you cant play down in this game is special teams. That is where any team can catch up to them. The offense is usually fine when they arnt getting too cute (and that happened a couple of times last year) Our defense is not as bad as they have been. They may surprise some people but the no huddle could expose them since Williams cant do his subs like he wants. We will see.

At least Peyton Manning has class

yep your right about that and people here even hated him for that. I was speaking more on Peyton but it is believed that even Archie was involved in that. I think they didnt want the brothers knocking each other out of the playoffs all the time but I agree that they should not have been able to choose. In the end, the Chargers gave in to it though so they are to blame some too IMO. You give in and it tells the next guy he can do that. -
I think us small market cities have to kind of stick together. If the Jerry Jones's of the world have their way then we wont be able to compete anymore.

Heels has it. Archie and Olivia raised all there kids with old school values. I am the same age as Peyton and grew up a mile and a half from their uptown address. Ive been around him a few times but never Eli (Peyton and I had common friends and I shot pool with him and Archie once for about an hour). What you see on camera is what you get. I too could do without a few endorsements but I guess I shouldnt begrudge a guy for striking while his name is hot. -
we like him. I havnt been to a game yet this year and it is hard to evaluate a corner on TV since you never see them unless they are screwing up. Having said that, we havnt seen much of him so we are loving him. I was real happy with the pickup. First game I go to, Ill be focusing on him. Corners have been our biggest problem here especially since we just didnt really draft any during the Haslett years.
-
thanks everyone, you guys have been very gracious and much faster than I figured. Timba, I agree that no huddle could be bad but it could go either way because Williams does like to switch out personell. Your right about keeping Brees off the field for sure. Damj, that is what I figured about Williams and it seems like (for now anyway) he is enjoying just being back as a DC. We actually have some players on D but it hasnt all come together yet. Could be mid year if at all for them to click if at all this year, but I think that agressive play calling on D is the way to go with our quick strike O. They are causing turnovers and those will play a huge roll in this game. I think the dink and dunk stuff is what will work on us.

what a wild game with the T.O.P. the way it was. After the game Penington looked like his head had been used as a mop and Peyton looked like he had just suited up to do a commercial in that interview after the game. Miami should be so embarrassed about the clock management on the last drive.
