Stevie Johnson: After the INT
mountainwampus replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if Stevie can HANDLE a big contract. Honestly, a lot of guys get big pay days then they stop playing with heart. He seems like that kind of player. He's not smart. When he's making $10m/year his production will fall. He's easily distracted. Look at how bad Fitzy has been since his contract, and he's a Harvard grad. Although, I agree that the contracts you mentioned seem foolish. Especially Kelsay. But two wrongs don't make a right. -
Who's the better RB? Fred or CJ?
mountainwampus replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I voted Fred, but I'd like to note that CJ is getting much better and could soon be one of the best. He always lacked patience in terms of blocks and waiting for holes, but now his feild vision is improving and he looks like a great option at WR as well. I think he will shed the "bust" label. -
Stevie Johnson: After the INT
mountainwampus replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks for filling me in. I agree that Solomon should've blamed Fitz, from a commentators standpoint. My reason for focusing on SJ is the fact that his future remains uncertain, while Fitz has his contract already, whether we like it or not. You must admit, it was kinda odd that he didn't even leap or make any attempt to touch Davis while he was making the pick. It made the catch all too easy. -

What did Solomon say? I was at the game. -
A Few (Very Abbreviated) Thoughts About The Game
mountainwampus replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both Dwan and Spencer played well. It was Kelsay who really stunk it up yesterday against the run, though he finally made a play with that QB fumble hit. Still, cut him. Actually cut Spencer too, he's not an OLB. I like Dwan. -
Stevie Johnson: After the INT
mountainwampus replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very true, but look at how good Nelson catches awful passes. He had an unreal one-handed grab on a crossing route that looked uncatchable. Fitzy needs BIG targets. SJ needs perfect throws. The chemistry is not there anymore. Chan needs to bury that deep left pass play. Spiller could've used more touches in that game. -
Stevie Johnson: After the INT
mountainwampus replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I feel like David Nelson would have came back to the ball to challenge the CB. This team needs more WRs like Nelson. How many passes to Nelson result in INTs? How many to SJ? I have lost count. -
Stevie Johnson: After the INT

Definitely Deja Vu. Fitzy CANNOT make that deep left throw if his life depended on it. Not trying to excuse his play at all. It was awful. I just can't stand seeing a wide receiver screaming for flags when the play isn't even over. Very TO-esque. -
Not sure if anyone saw this with the blackout and all. Fitzy threw yet another underthrown, deep left pass to SJ in the 3rd quarter, resulting in an easy INT. What really bothered me, though, was SJ's reaction after the INT. First of all, he made no attempt to defend the pass from being picked off and no attempt to even tackle the CB. Then, after he realized it was intercepted, he just started bitching and flailing his arms, maybe calling for a flag?? I have no idea. He never even thought to touch the CB, who fell to the turf untouched, until it was too late. It didn't result in any return yarage, but I still think it's very telling how a WR reacts to an INT. Sure, the pass was bad, but it's one on one coverage. At least try to make a leap for it. At least TOUCH THE GUY. SJ couldn't be bothered. He just doesn't have his head in the game. TO took a lot of flak for doing the same thing 2 years ago, so I thought I'd mention it.

Maybe your right, but every source I can find lists Kelsay at around $5 mil per year, and I do remember when both him and Denney were both Making $6 Mil. It just seems outlandish. My argument isn't about the money, it's that he's so bad at OLB that he shouldn't even be on the field/team anymore. He was mediocre in his prime and now he is in decline. I could make the same argument about Spencer Johnson but I feel he is slightly better and I assume he draws in less salary. Nonetheless, Johnson has no business playing OLB. The Bills could be a serious playoff contender if they weren't SO weak at this one position. I think the secondary has a lot of talent, as do the DTs and ILBs. I'm not the only one. Experts, analysts and posters alike keep saying it. OLB has been brought again and again. If you want to beat the Bills, attack the OLBs.

Check this out. "Kelsay is the highest-paid 3-4 outside linebacker and fourth overall, behind superstar defensive ends Julius Peppers and Dwight Freeney and three-time Pro Bowl defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. All three have at least twice as many sacks as Kelsay. " "Strange as it might seem, Kelsay's average per year actually went down with his new deal. The NFLPA still had him categorized as a defensive end heading into 2010 because that's the position he played his entire career before the Bills switched to a 3-4 scheme. His average salary was $5.75 million, making him the 15th highest-paid defensive end regardless of age or experience. He was listed ahead of Robert Mathis, Shaun Ellis, Trent Cole and Chris Long, who received a gaudy contract as the second overall draft pick in 2008. "

No, the "pass rush" was ferocious, not just Moats and Batten. The whole unit looked awesome. Vick was running for his life. and No- Moats does not play almost every down. Usually just 3rd. I will give Kelsay credit for one thing: Drawing holding penalties. He's done that at least twice this year.
-
Wrong. When Kelsay was injured, our pass rush looked ferocious against Philly. Both Moats and Batten have actual STATS despite playing a fraction of what Kelsay has. They both have .5 sacks. Batten has 2 tackles for losses, a fumble recovery and 23 tackles. Moats has one tackle for a loss and pretty much ended Favre's career last season. I'm not saying those guys are great, but they have way more upside than Kelsay. He is horrible and must be cut.
-
I disagree. Most past Bills cuts have gone on to backup roles or early retirement. Nix was the one who cut the players who could've helped us win (Lynch, Evans, Maybin)
-
OMG!!! Nix is absolutely clueless. At this point, the race card is only thing that makes sense. "He exemplifies what (color) we want players to be and how we want them to be (white)"
-
Oh yes, the contract. That's the aspect that really defies belief. Kelsay is the epitome of a League Minimum Salary player. Always has been. Even when he was getting ~3 sacks per season. I don't know. Maybe it wasn't as obvious last year, but this year the secret is out. Even the TV commentators before the Tennesee game said we'd lose because of Kelsay and Spencer Johnson, and that was pretty much spot on. Chris Johnson tried to bounce every run outside and made it look easy. The Chargers did pretty much the same thing. Worked everytime without fail.

My linkhttp://espn.go.com/nfl/player/stats/_/id/4506/chris-kelsay Chris Kelsay: Lights On. He has dwindled into nothing. If he doesn't get cut after this season, something is seriously wrong. Just look at his career stats. He used to split snaps with Denney and still put up decent numbers. Now he is an "every down" player and can't do ANYTHING. This year he has only 1 sack (In the Redskins game where they were nearly automatic) and 0 tackles for a loss. 20 total tackles, 12 solo (mostly ugly for big gains) and 0 for every other stat. Does any other starting OLB in the NFL have such non-exsistant stats? I think it takes more than a "high motor" to be in the NFL. You have to make a play once in a while. AT LEAST one good play per season.

What Happens If They Can't Resign Steve Johnson?
mountainwampus replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't see him as top 20-25. I look around the league and EVERY TEAM has at least one receiver I'd prefer over SJ. Statistically, he's at #24 right now (yards receiving). BUT, his lack of hands, intelligence, and potential are very obvious. Some guys i'd prefer over him who are statistically lower: Percy Harvin Golden Tate Deion Branch Dez Bryant Reggie Wayne Desean Jackson Mike Williams (TB) Michael Crabtree So, I place him at #32 I say draft the best available WR with the 1st pick. -
Is Ralph or other people in the Bills FO racist?
mountainwampus replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Of course Ralph Wilson is racist. HE'S 93 YEARS OLD. Show me a 93 y/o who isn't racist. -
Make up a rumor about J.P Losman
mountainwampus replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here's a true (really) story about Losman: I used to see him on my morning commute, driving to Ralph Wilson Stadium in his black Tahoe. He was a very impatient driver. He would routinely cut people off and run red lights. He would take Milestrip past McKinley but would always avoid the intersection at Abbott. Instead, he would cut an early right at Niles to Stewart Rd. Anyone familiar with this area knows that isn't a very smart shortcut. You'd have to be as cocky as Losman to think this was a smart move. Sure, he saved a few seconds, but it was pretty reckless to be speeding down a quiet street like Stewart IMO. -
Prepare ye selves, fans of Buffalo

It will now be appropriate for Stevie to blame God when he drops a pass in the endzone. -
4th round pick for Evans looks like a steal
mountainwampus replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had the most bench press reps at the combine of any DB. This team could use the muscle. Also, he had the INT at the end of the Oakland game to seal the win. Also, he hasn't made too many mistakes. He looks like a keeper. -
I don't get it. Usually teams use the Wildcat until it stops working. Well, it never stopped working! All I remember was successful Wildcat plays on 3rd down and a nice touchdown play too, yet, I can't remember the last time it was used. I DO know we haven't won since abandoning it. Seems like it would be extra valuable now that Freddie is hurt and Fitzy is failing. Is Chan trying to lose??

I think Corey McIntyre is a top 5 Fullback, but that's one of those positions that gets very little recognition.
