CJ #1 Rated RB performance
mountainwampus replied to Wayne Cubed's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Do I have ESPN? Yes. I just don't recall very many draw plays last year. Even less play action attempts. Just a lot of "exactly-what-you-would-expect-plays." On the other hand, The Patriots used play action EXCESSIVELY. It seemed as if Brady would add a fake handoff to every play, just for the heck of it. They always kept Ds on edge, well, except the Giants D. -

I agree that you need to pass to open up the run and vice versa, but Chan didn't really do that like the good coaches do. Everytime they lined up in spread it was a pass. Most good teams mix in draw plays with their shotguns and mix in play action passes with the tighter formations. I didn't see any of those usual strategies at all last year. It was always pretty obvious if a run or pass was coming, IMO. -

And the run defense was pathetic, but I still blame Chan for a lot of the loses last year. Over both games he never made any adjustments other than calling excessive pass plays. And yes, Matt Moore looked like Marino against us -

Oh was it? Sorry. Actually, the coaching sucked in that game too. How do you have such a remarkable running game but still manage to lose? -

I think that game was also one of the worst coaching performances I have ever witnessed. I've never seen such horrible play calling. Chan just kept calling 5-wideout, shotgun sets with a center who couldn't snap, while avoiding the running game which was working perfectly. -
looks like we have to cut kelsey

It was on TV the week after the Broncos game. Chris Brown was interviewing him. Sorry no link. It was meant as a complement. No more Kelsay-bashing from me. -

As one of the biggest Kelsay bashers on this board, I'm going to make a conscious effort to not bash him anymore. This team doesn't have enough DEs as it is. He deserves a spot as a backup for at least one more season and yes, he looked good against Tebow. On to other topics.. -

This excuse is very common. Except, Kelsay has lined up as if 4-3 DE most of the time even when he was listed as a OLB throughout the 3-4 era. I don't know how anyone can justify the term "solid" when he is supposed to be a pass rush specialist yet gets no sacks. When he does, they seem like flukes. Others call him a run-stuffer, which is ridiculous, because he had zero run stuffs last year and very few over his entire career. It's no accident that the highest paid player the Bills have ever signed happens to play Kelsay's position. -

Kelsay has no right to even be on a football field, much less keep his number, much less make 5 mil. I not care for his personality either. Going to Mario to tell him he can't have his number is kinda childish. Chris, don't assume you even have a place on this team. He referred to Dareus as "borderline cocky." No, not in the slightest. That's known as "talent." -
Mayock also called out Glenn for "not wanting to sit there all day" when the Giants took Rueben Randle. Which I didn't understand, because it seemed like most of the picks through rounds 2 and 3 weren't in attendance. Why single out Glenn? You already showed a fake video clip and now you're gonna insinuate that our guy is fat or lazy??

Maybe, but the drop also coincided with the pot bust. And watching the draft last night, the analyst stated that Kirkpatrick was the 2nd best CB after Cinci picked him. Obviously, the Bengals aren't scared of a little weed (Jerome Simpson). You're right. I'm not trying to be a debbie downer here. The draft is stacked with WR. Just was stating for the record that Floyd was pretty much the general concensus pick. Whether Gilmore is better than Kirkpatrick is debatable. Hopefully he is.
-
The perception of Dre Kirkpatrick changed drastically after he was busted with pot. He was considered a top 10 pick and ranked higher than Gilmore by every analyst until the pot bust. Just look at any draft publication dated before his pot arrest.
-
I hate to say it, but drafting Gilmore has gotta be the worst pick of the draft because it was number 10 and he is considered the 3rd best CB behind Claiborne and the weed smoker. I can't really blame Nix too much since Kuechly was gone, but still. The concensus pick was Floyd.

Top three realistic choices
mountainwampus replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Corners usually appear to suck when there is zero pass rush. Maybe these guys are better than we know? I think Justin Rodgers and Aaron Williams look legit. Da'Norris Searcy is a great back-up for Wilson. The safeties and corners look pretty solid to me. What about linebackers? Where were they? I'm not sure our LBs have been this weak since we had Marcus Buggs starting at MLB. Barnett is the only bright spot. -

+1, exactly, well said. Jones and Morrison need to be backups for top draft picks this year. My 3 would be: Kuechly, Floyd, and ..hmmm... -

What's with all the Gilmore and Barron picks? Where did this come from? I will pretty much write this season off if Nix doesn't fill a more pressing need like LB or WR. -
I hope he proves something in preseason, but currently I'd place Carrington, Heard and Edwards ahead of him talent-wise.
-
Troup on twitter today: "My sleeping patterns are horrible. Been this way since i was 13 tho. Still hast caught up to me." I think the Bills would have drafted someone else in 2nd round had they known this.
-
What has Troup ever done? He's a sure cut in my eyes.
-
Not so much. He was drafted to be a 3-4 end. He even bulked up to fit the need, but that whole 3-4 thing never really materialized.
-
I'm all about Carrington. Let him be depth for DE and DT. I'd play him over Kelsay or Troup at either position.

Dan Marion on Morning Joe today...

Rumor has it, Marino scored a 15 on his wonderlic. -
I can't cite any specific stats or plays or anything, but I felt like Spiller didn't look like a superstar until Hairston took over for Bell last season. I remember Hairston absolutely crushing guys with blocks in the run game. He wasn't always perfect in the pass-blocking, but certainly a good rookie season. FYI, at the 2011 combine, he had 33 reps on the benchpress, the highest of any OT player.
-
Agreed. I'd like to see the hit rates of some other positions to compare. Overall, I think Nix is right, that the WRs are the deepest position this year. Am I the only one who is concerned about his heart condition? Seems to me that those kinda problems don't heal. Though, I wish him the best, he looks like a potential stud receiver.

Matt Light: RETIRED!!!!
mountainwampus replied to mountainwampus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's offical now. Nobody else mentioned it here. Sorry. Between the Bills picking up Mario and Anderson and the Pats losing Light, I'm feeling pretty hyped up!!!!!
