Who believes in Manuel?
mountainwampus replied to Chi-town Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What worries me is how he really struggles when it comes to hitting moving targets from any distance. That's the footage they didn't show on Sports Science. He can do a good, zippy pass to a predetermined spot, but not if the target is moving across the field. He consistently failed to lead RBs into space, not allowing for any of the huge after-catch gains to CJ that used to pad Fitzy's stats. A lot of the stats supporting EJ as "good" were cherry picked. He had a fairly stable QB rating, but if you look at the darker side, stats like completion % to WRs, yac, dvoa, all were abysmal. 3rd downs were 3rd frowns. I like that he has big hands and is tall, but I only see 2 or 3 really great throws all season. I feel like Thad has more heart and better instincts, more durable, smarter, and a brighter future in the NFL. I believe in Thad. -
I have an ideal role for Easley
mountainwampus replied to D521646's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He probably lacks the skill set or he's too tall for safety. He is a natural WR. He has all the ideal traits. I don't understand why Hogan got reps over him. He is hungry to play. He looks explosive on ST, then an offensive drive starts and he mostly paces around on the sidelines with his helmet on. I'm sorry, but these coaches haven't a clue as to who is a competent WR. Case in point: TJ Graham had the 2nd most snaps of any WR last season. You line up sorry receivers like that? "That's the result you gon' get." - Richard Sherman -
Is TJ Graham as bad as we think?
mountainwampus replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not a coincidence that 50% of passes to TJ are bad. He doesn't run routes properly and doesn't look for the ball. 3rd and 8? He runs a 15 yard curl, ball at feet. Wide open on a crossing route? He doesn't even look at qb, engages the MLB instead. Deep passes? He doesn't see them coming unless they hit him in the hands. Or else he'll run so close to the sideline the pass sails OB. Has no ability to keep feet in bounds near sidelines. And so many mental mistakes. Remember EJ's intentional grounding in the corner of endzone, TJ and Easley ran conflicting routes? Marrone confirmed that Easley ran the right route. Losing to the pats because he runs wrong route to let them pick off Fitz. False starts. Can't handle his only kick return attempt. Fumble 6 vs KC. 3 weeks straight with 0 targets even though he was starting and getting thrown to, resuting in many INTs. He made Russell Wilson look like garbage in college. Made Fitz look like a joke. Making EJ a bust. -

Pro Football Focus had him last place last season and in the bottom 5 this year with the likes of Heyward-Bey and Bess. Heyward-Bey is another perfect example of how all the speed in the world does not always translate to the field. -

This is a sign of good things to come. Shane Conlan went to 3 straight Super Bowls after the same honor in 1988. -
A TY and a TJ diverged in the woods...
mountainwampus replied to bobobonators's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's just not possible to be a winning team when you have a WR that runs wrong routes nearly every week on 3rd downs. TJ is playoff kyrptonite. -

TJ Graham was not a hindsight mistake. Someone was smoking crack that day. Maybe the draft board smudged and the Y looked like a J. The Bills purposely discarded the 7th rd pick (as if the Jags had any interest in a player like TJ after taking Blackmon? Not likely.) Everyone questioned the pick from the moment it was made. TY was one of the BPAs at WR and has the complete WR skill set. TJ was the biggest reach of the draft. His combine performance was abysmal. His college career was riddled with fumbles. Only success he's ever had were huge punt returns, running in straight lines. How does that translate to playing WR in the NFL? It doesn't. The Bills are going to lose as long as he's on the field. He's just that bad. -
In Madden 25, I simply replace TJ with CJ and dominate. I'm certain this would work in real life. Imagine Stevie, Woods, Chandler and CJ as passing targets with Freddie at HB! That's our best personnel in a powerful formation. One that has never been used by Hackett. Even Old Gailey Magoo was smart enough to pass to CJ.

Alex Carrington.... i don't get it
mountainwampus replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Megahand doesn't just block kicks, he bats a lot of passes. He knows how to clog throwing lanes and get his arms in the way of the QB's ideal pass. I've seen him stuff runs while being double teamed. Lots of details that don't show up on the stat sheet. He's a keeper. Pettine needs DT/DE tweeners like him and Branch. -
Hate to say it..... (QB situation)
mountainwampus replied to IslandBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OP hits the nail on the head with Thad's emotional advantage. Thad just looks more emotionally invested on the field and sidelines while EJ always seems apathetic. Thad plays with a lot of heart and airs it out fearlessly. The D is inspired by what they see and play better. If only he didn't take a shot to the ribs on the 1st play vs Saints, I think he would have won that game, too (Thanks Hacket). -
Why is Graham used more than Goodwin?
mountainwampus replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jax game, first drive, 3rd and 9. Stevie runs a 10 yard curl. TJ is supposed to, too, but runs 15-20 yards, then slowly curls back late. By the time he comes back, the ball is bouncing on the turf near the 1st down marker. This is stuff he should have learned in High School. He is a football moron with a track & field skill set. He does this stuff almost every week. The stat sheet says he hasn't been targeted in the last 3 games but that's not true. He is just so far away from where the routes are supposed to be that it doesn't count as a target. 2 of his targets last week were INTs. Another target vs Jax was that pass interference where TJ acted as if he was held even though he wasn't. His run blocking is mediocre at best. I haven't seen him make a key block all season. Also, go back to the Bucs game and watch 2nd quarter (4:59) 3rd & 6. TJ at bottom of 3 WR bunch. He does a short crossing pattern and finds himself wide open, only he doesn't look at EJ, he looks at the LB in the middle of the field, who's on his way over, but not there yet. Meanwhile, EJ is staring TJ down but he is clearly not interested in catching passes on crossing routes. Not sure how this doesn't register as a target. Maybe because he made no attempt to catch the ball. -
TJ is the single worst player with the most time on the field. It would be MAJOR because he gets more snaps than CJ and close to what SJ gets. Maybe he can switch to safety like George Wilson (but of course he's too weak to play D).

Refs took Falcons by the hand
mountainwampus replied to Tu-Toned's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EVERYTHING should be reviewable. Simply review the tape of the chains moving. Done. It was a first down. You can't retroactively change what down it is or was! If the NFL has an ounce of credibility, they will fire everyone who was associated with that call. But they won't. It's the National Fairy-tale League. Redskins should be awarded a free draft pick for that nonsense. -
Dan Dierdorf to Retire from CBS after the Season

Marcus Easley makes the team
mountainwampus replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Howard Simon asked Marrone about the wrong route ran in endzone vs Steelers and he explicitly said it wasn't Easley who ran the wrong route (right around 4:20) and he suggested that TJ is the one who botched the route. -
Marcus Easley makes the team
mountainwampus replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easley showcases a very conplete skill set with his ST play. He gets to punts before they hit the ground (elite speed), he runs right through blockers, makes incredible diving tackles. I could see him being fierce blocker. Hopefully he proves all of this Sunday. Please don't give us a limping SJ or a recently concussed Hogan. -
Marcus Easley makes the team
mountainwampus replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are we even sure that Easley screwed that up and not TJ? Either way, I think Easley gets a pass on that one. He hasn't had nearly enough reps at WR. He might be failing to grasp the playbook, but physically, he is the prototypical NFL receiver. Coach him up and get him out there. TJ has had his fair share of wrong routes as well, with nothing outstanding to make up for it. -
Marcus Easley makes the team
mountainwampus replied to Donald Duck's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He made one of the best catches of the season vs Steelers. It was completely unnoticed, but he got hammered instantly while making a 9 yard catch and actually held on. I was completely shocked because Bills WRs are a bunch of weaklings and none of them are capable of holding on after a hit like that. Then, I realized it was #81 and wasn't surprised. He always looks like a man amongst boys out there. -
What concerns me is how he's outplaying EJ without good eyesight and no corrective lenses. He literally squints during every passing play!
-
I would like to know why Tuel was given a 4th & 3 attempt at the opponents 36 yard line, in a tied game, while with EJ on a 4th and 5, down by 14 points, at the same spot on the field, we punt?!? It's as if Maronne has no faith in EJ.

Is TJ Graham any good?
mountainwampus replied to Bills Fan since '64's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess I just have higher standards for how well a professional WR should play. IMO, he shouldn't have slowed for a pass that ended up falling 1 yard too deep. -

TJ comes to a complete STOP to look back for the ball. I don't see real NFL receivers stopping on their routes to assess the ball trajectory. That's not pro football.
