  1. Was busy yesterday so I'm a day late with this one. Anyone living in Rochester remember what you were doing 30 years ago? Chances are you were walking, not driving around. The great ice storm hit 30 years ago yesterday. It was Monday morning, woke up at 6:00 AM in spite of power being out. Called the police department to see if the bay bridge was open so I could get to work (seasonal swing bridge wasn't open until 1998.) Response was "everything's closed sir, stay home." My power was out for 12 days. The guy who took the video in the link below must be absolutely crazy...it was taken with a full sized video-camera, one hand on the wheel, one on the video-camera, no cell phones in those days. At least none that took video. Really cool if you can get past the windshield wiper noise.

  2. A few years back there was an add that mentioned several of us know someone who has lived well in to their 90's. When listening to that add my thought was I don't know anyone that hasn't! Dad died 82 days shy of 101. Good lord willing Mom will turn 102 in July. Wouldn't bet against her. To your point about drinking and smoking, Uncle John literally smoked 5 packs a day was the guy that was passed out on the sidewalk after closing. Broke his hip when he was 77, Dr's said his liver and lungs weren't that bad, if he quit drinking and smoking he could make 100, if not he wouldn't live another 5 years. He died at 81. Not bad considering his lifestyle. Depending on the source there is anywhere from 5 to 12 stages of grief. Both loss of a parent and loss of a job are major losses and require working through the stages. Stop trying to be tough. If you're angry be angry. If you're depressed, which seems to be a stage you are understandably stuck in, reach out for help. Posting here was a start. If you believe in God or participate in an organized religion reach out there. Good luck.
  3. Looks like he's lost a lot of weight
  4. https://www.si.com/nfl/browns/news/gordon-and-manziel-teammates-again Something called the Fan Controlled Football league 2 thoughts What could possibly go wrong? How does this not end badly? More on FCF https://www.fcf.io/
  5. This will be funny next month, little too early now. Actually it looks like he will be okay so it's fine now.🤣
  6. Not that it matters, but Jaws of life were not used. Something called a Halligan tool (similar to a crow bar) and an ax were used. "Lt. Michael White later told CBSLA reports of the “jaws of life” being used were inaccurate. " "“Tiger Woods was trapped inside the vehicle, so our firefighters and our firefighter paramedics used a pry bar, called a Halligan tool, and an ax to pry parts of the vehicle away from him,” Osby said."" https://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2021/02/24/tiger-woods-car-crash-hospital-surgery/ Anyways glad he's okay. Maybe he'll pull a Ben Hogan and win the US Open next year.
  7. Funny...My Mom is 101 (actually 101-1/2) and is still correcting people's grammar. Just last night she told her nurse "I want you do me a big favor please. Next time you say the word often don't pronounce the t, it's supposed to be silent."
  8. Just out of curiosity, when Canadians play sandlot football do they play with 3 or 4 downs? Soccer in HS here, intramural flag football in college and some organized flag in my 30's and 40's.
  9. Born in March of 76, reached #1 in October of 2001, age of 25. Remained in top 3 through the age of 26, and top 10 through the age of 28.
  10. Jennifer Capriati begs to differ.
  11. You lost me at "banana bread beer"
  12. Had I been at the workshop my hand would have gone up both times. Currently live at the Northern border of both the town of Irondequoit and the United States. My 101-1/2 year old mother lives 2-1/2 miles from me in the house I grew up in...good chance I'll move back to it should I outlive her. Ironically my grammar school, less than a block from that house, is now the senior center...guess I'll begin and end my life there as well.
  13. Corner end zone, the extra two tickets from our season tickets. Took me until year 4 of the super bowl run to realize I should hold off before buying the extra tickets, they always sold the lousy seats first so they could advertise good seats still available as game day approached. At the half I put my head down in in my lap, then looked up at my brother and said "this could be our finest hour" As we all know things got worse before they got better, but man what a ride the next hour was.
  14. Way better that the 12 attempts for -3 yards Bush had for us in 2016!
  15. Damn that's way too young. RIP
  16. While 85 certainly provided two HOFers as well as the greatest backup quarterback of all time (just my opinion, Don Strock would argue,) 87 may have had more talent. Conlan, Odomes, and Ballard were all solid starters for 5+ years and made a couple pro bowls. McKellar, Seales and Muellar all started a few years and provided quality depth when not starting. Add in Cornelius Bennett and it rivals any draft class of any team (not sure if it is fair to add in biscuit or not since he came via trade, but he was part of the 87 draft class.) Clearly both draft classes figured heavily in the run to 4 straight super bowls!
  17. this was my first thought
  18. Just out of curiosity, who was your previous favorite non-Bill?
  19. In addition to the pair of 50+ yarders there were two great on-sides kicks. We recovered one, the second was almost a repeat of the first as far as the path of the ball. Obviously KC recovered the second. But if Bass can replicate those kicks why not do it every time against the Chiefs. If they recover, it isn't like we did a lot to slow them down until the ball got to our side of the field. No sense in tiring out the defense chasing those guys around for 75 yards, just give them the first 30, shorten up the field. If we recover 1 out of 4 kicks we're ahead of the game.
  20. Just wondering if anyone else's eyes played tricks on them and read the title as punt catcher instead of pass catcher at first glance?
  21. Trying to find the version of Heart of Buffalo that's played at the Jolly Jug, not The Leftovers version (flip side is Go Bills Go.) Any help appreciated.
  22. My childhood hero. Guess Sutton, Seaver, Gibson, and Ford were having too easy of a time, had to have someone who could hit them. Little known fact, he and his little brother Tommy have the record for most home runs by brothers (755/13). Got Tommy's autograph at a Red Wings game in the 60's. RIP
  23. Yup, Stabler had 16K's, Sutton had 14. Think it was a 1963 state final game. RIP to both men.
