  1. And then there's that whole Super Bowl thing.
  2. Dallas and Miami are the only teams that I could absolutely never root for under any circumstances. Lately, Cincy is on my list because Burrow is a massive doosh. This has countered the empathy I once felt for their fan base. Otherwise: Unless they are playing the aforementioned three teams, I will be rooting against: the Pats - For their fan base, to be clear. Not for their success, which I begrudgingly respected. The Jets - Because they are pathetic downstate trashmongers. The Jags - Because Jacksonville. Carolina - A generic team from a soulless city. Ravens - Because of their origin story (and cheesy logo), I can never consider them a legitimate NFL franchise. After that, it's mostly cold indifference, with a handful teams I have a soft spot for.
  3. It’s a small sample size and the Fins pretty much laid an egg. There will be big passing games when the opponent starts scoring. Who cares anyway, I want wins, not passing yards!
  4. Jon Kitna - made a nice career out of a big heart and very little athletic talent. Heywood Jeffires- was on the receiving end of many beautiful Warren Moon spirals.
  5. Can we just forget about his draft position for a minute, and remember that Elam is a solid depth CB who knows the playbook? What's left in the cupboard if they trade him? What's the cost of bringing a new guy up to speed? It would have to be a pretty lopsided deal by a desperate NFC contender for Beane to pull the trigger on that. Odds are not good .
  6. We are very fortunate to be in this situation, considering the demise of Tre White and the malaise of Kaiir Elam. Hats off to Beane and co. for managing to replace an enormous amount of unrealized potential with a trade and a day 3 pick.
  7. I'm not saying I agree with it. And it's not just the fans - A recent poll of 103 NFL players had Josh ranked #4. So the perception outside B-lo is that Lamar is the better QB, like it or not.
  8. Is Brian Westbrook unheralded? Maybe not when he was active, but he seems to have been quickly forgotten. His contribution to the McNabb-era Iggles was immeasurable. He was 2/3 their offense, and more on some days.
  9. Rock and Roll Ricky Proehl!
  10. I hate to break it to everyone, but outside Buffalo, Lamar is QB #2. He has 2 MVP awards and just as many superbowl appearances/wins as Josh does.
  11. He's become a really good RB, but knowing the Chiefs, this probably won't make a bit of difference.
  12. The Chiefs are masters of the fourth quarter. They always find a way to move the chains quickly when needed, and they manage the clock perfectly. Most importantly, they never panic and always believe they will come out on top. As long as they can keep the game close through 3 Qs, they will prevail.
  13. They won again, didn't they?
  14. Also on Bass - I never knew how fast he was! He almost ran down Dallas on that KO return TD. Dude has wheels.
  15. Hamlin looked pretty solid in the preseason... I guess that's something?
  16. Dang, they kept Darrynton Evans just to be the 4th string KOR? He must be a special teams ace? I wish they would put the special teams lineups on these things, too.
  17. I always thought he was kind of a dink. But he sure was good at football!
  18. Count me among the haters who thought McDaniel would wash out in half a season. I was wrong - He's a legit coach with a chance to be great someday.
  19. SF is super sketchy. It's bizarre, because the same streets that are littered with dope fiends and human waste are home to $4000/month apartments and multi-million dollar homes. My last visit there, I saw a homeless guy take a dump on the sidewalk in broad daylight, 5 blocks from Mark Zuckerberg's house.
  20. Dick Vermeil wasn't the one throwing dimes 50 yards downfield under pressure. Warner was great because the game moved slower for him. He could make all the reads and throw people open with anticipation in 3 seconds or less. That, and his arm had all the attributes to make every throw - quick release, touch, accuracy, and strength. When you watch his breakdown videos, he's always criticizing QBs for missing "open" reads - I think a lot of NFL QBs just can't see those receivers as being open the way he could. Just watch his tape next to Tyrod Taylor's and you'll see what I mean.
  21. Facts are facts - The Bills are not a top-tier team on paper. They will have to be much better than the sum of their parts to be successful this year, but that's been done by many teams before.
  22. It's amazing what they pass off as journalism nowadays. A 19-year veteran misses minicamp, and the team is in total disarray. I'm pretty sure Rodgers would retire before playing on a bona fide train wreck of team.
  23. My favorite NFL rule is the one that says you have to sign a guy to your 53 if you pluck him off another team's PS. That helps keep it a rare occurrence, especially before the season starts and injury replacement needs are minimal. I think it helps keep a lot more players with the teams that have invested in them.
  24. Dang, I'm more excited about the practice squad than I am about the active roster!
