  1. I was just thinking about the EJ/JA 1st year comparison. Josh kind of reminds me of EJ - Tall, big arm, not very accurate, great athlete, always a threat to run. I would bet their stat sheets look very similar for their rookie years. I think the big difference is that Allen has shown improvement in reading the field and getting the ball out quickly (instead of bailing on the pass and running for it like he did so much in earlier games). EJ never got over that hump. Allen is also way more confident and enthusiastic. Allen should develop into the better player, but that being said, I haven't seen anything this season that makes me think it's guaranteed to happen.
  2. You can't blame it all on the WRs. If you watch other NFL games, you soon realize that Bills WRs aren't the only ones who drop balls. Over time, an accurate quarterback will put up a good completion %. Josh Allen is not (yet) an accurate QB. Even on his completions, I see a lot of 'crude' ball placement. It gets there, but the receiver has to adjust in such a way that there's no opportunity for YAC. That said, accuracy seems to be his only major flaw right now. He is improving a lot in reading the field, and he doesn't hesitate to make the throws - which means his ceiling is automatically higher than Tyrod's. Hopefully time will make him more accurate.
  3. Hindsight is always 20/20. I think it's only fair to judge bad picks if they also looked bad the day they were made; 'reaches' that didn't pan out. Even the infamous Mike WIlliams pick seemed like a good decision on draft day. The most egregious examples I can think of in recent Bills history were Aaron Maybin, Donte Whitner, CJ Spiller, Leodis McKelvin, and Sammy Watkins. None of these passed the smell test on draft day. And to be fair, only one of them (Maybin) was a complete and total bust - meaning he never provided anything of value to the team whatsoever. The rest were certainly over-drafted, but they at least contributed something on the field, and/or brought something back to the team in a trade later on.
  4. Go back to Worcestster, jerk face.
  5. One more series and I'm moving on.
  6. At least my beer is pretty good.
  7. Boring game, but at least we were spared the Spiro Dedes this week.
  8. My homer says 'catch' but my football says 'incomplete'.
  9. Hardly the reason they lost the game. Probably not even in the top 5 or 10 reasons.
  10. I think the team is behind him 100%, but he is going to have to prove he can do a little more with his passing game (finding open guys, hitting more receivers in stride, etc.) to be the full-blown leader of the offense.
  11. Hard no. What is wrong with you people? He started a fight with a woman, threw her to the ground, then kicked her when she was down. It's on video for all to see (not alleged, but proven). Does it matter at this point how good he is at football?
  12. True, but also consider that your real estate dollar goes further in Buffalo than in just about any other NFL city, excepting Detroit. That being said, NY taxes on an NFL salary are probably worth more $$$ than most mansions.
  13. I don't see it. I watch him on almost every defensive snap. He seems to just hang back and watch everyone else make plays. He's never anywhere near the ball, and he never makes any big hits. It almost looks like he's trying to avoid contact with opposing players, unless they are blocking him 9 yards off the play. Meanwhile, Matt Milano is all over the place getting INTs and cleaning dudes' clocks. Maybe I just don't understand football, but I have to think a guy with that kind of physical talent should be more involved in more plays, tracking and crushing the ball carrier. Especially since he's literally in the middle of the defensive field on every play. What am I missing?
  14. I'm trying, believe me! I am enjoying sitting on my couch sipping whiskey, but the game itself is not a contributing factor to said enjoyment.
  15. This is one of the worst games I can remember watching. Two pop-gun offenses and a penalty on every play. The most exciting thing to happen was the fight, and even that was pretty mediocre.
  16. I wouldn't read too much into one game, especially one against a bad team. In all likelihood, the Bills are still not a good football team on most Sundays, and Matt Barkley is probably not going to clock a 3-digit QB rating every week. There will be a regression to the mean, but there are also enough games left for another big win or two. Remember, it's exceedingly rare for even the worst teams to finish 0-16. Just another example of "On any given Sunday..."
  17. I see no reason to believe Barkley will be any better than Peterman. Why even bother? Oh well, it’s the Bills. Prove me wrong, Matt.
  18. Welcome to Buffalo, where 18/35 is the best you can hope for.
  19. Call me crazy, but I still think he can pull it together and have a decent game. I still believe he has the tools to get it done, it's just that there is no more harsh a crucible than behind center in the NFL. Especially for the 2018 Bills .
