Week 17 - Cheats v. Bills - PREDICT THE SCORE
skibum replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills 31 Pats 10 at most. Normally I am more conservative with my picks, but I think the Bills D is going to put a big hurt on Zappe Hour this week. Bills will have 200+ rushing yards. Allen will have maybe 20 total pass attempts for 150 yards and 1 or 2 TDs. Not a lot of big plays - the Bills stick to the fundamentals and bleed that Pats dry one series at a time. -
No matter how it turns out, I think it's been a fun (regular) season to watch. Frustrating results aside, the '23 Bills have played in a lot of exciting games, scored a lot of points, beat some really good teams, and had some stellar defensive games. They got some national hype a couple of times during the season (including lately). They didn't ever truly "suck". But they are definitively not 'The Team to Beat' this season. All in all, a pretty good (regular) season for the Buffalo Bills, especially when you consider all the injuries they had to deal with. There were just a few too many times on the wrong side of "any given Sunday".

Dang, I also love a good thigh, but you can't come in here and poop all over Frank's like that! By the way, proper Buffalo sauce is Frank's plus a lot of butter, simmered a while; it's not just Frank's alone. There's a big difference.

Ha ha, Roc City! You gotta be on your toes, but it's a lot of fun if you know your way around. There are not a lot of cities in the US that have that kind of character anymore. I haven't spent much time in Buffalo, but I imagine it's not that different.

Buy: Gabe Davis - the guy is due for one of his monster games, and he don't come any cheaper than right now. Sell: Taylor Rapp - Been playing with fire, this could be the game he finally gets burned/suspended. Hold: Von Miller. Inching his way back to relevance. Does the sleeping dragon awaken on Saturday?

True, wings have enough fat to "deep fry" themselves. A little fry-daddy can't maintain temperature when you dunk a bunch of room temperature meat in it.
-
I'm a Rochester guy, and we have our own wing style there, the archetypes being Country Sweet and Sal's Birdland. Tossed in flour, deep fried, and ladled with a thick, syrupy sweet hot sauce. Loved it when I was 16, but my body can't tolerate that level of corn syrup anymore. But they are undeniably decadent and delicious. Any of you Buffalonians ever experience Rochester-style wings? I'm curious to know what folks think of them. I imagine they can really split a room.

Pretty sure he is just there in case of emergency. I doubt we see him play unless someone gets hurt.

Predict your final 7 for the playoffs.
skibum replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
Love the playoff machine! I got: 1. KC 2. Jacksonville 3. Baltimore 4. Buffalo 5. Houston 6.Cleveland 7. Miami Can't remember which games I may have picked as upsets, etc. I must have picked the Texans to win out, and based on their schedule and QB I think it's possible. But I do think those are the 7 best teams in the AFC this year, with the possible exception of Cleveland. Indy, Denver, and Pittsburgh are not for real to me, and Cincy can't do it without Burrow. -
Gabe Davis- Do you want him back and for how much $
skibum replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
It seems like he has become less of a #2 receiver and more of a role player. But I think he is very good at his role, so if they can sign him for role-player money, I'm on board. I just don't think that's realistic given some of the high profile big games he has had. Someone is bound to give him a big payday if he hits UFA. -
I don't care if it was ticky-tack, the dude was clearly Offside. Dumb mistake by the player, and the ref decided to call it. I don't feel bad at all. Actually, I feel great! The Bills have been getting jobbed hard all year, and even in this game for the most part. Ticky tack call? Sure, but it was still legit. It's about time they get one to go their way.

Ugly win, but what they heck. Any win on the road in KC is likely to be ugly. it was desperately needed, and somehow they did it. I'll take it!

I was watching with a Philly fan friend of mine. He kept getting nervous every time the Bills scored or the Eagles got a bad penalty, etc. I just looked at him and said, "don't worry, I've seen this movie before - the Bills will find a way to lose this game". Sad, but it played out exactly the way I knew it would.

To my eyes, it looked like the majority of big mistakes were on the offense. Cook dropped a guaranteed TD pass, Davis goes the wrong way on another sure TD, and they couldn't run the ball all night. I can't remember who all of the 10 first half penalties were on, but that sure didn't help. Neither did two missed field goals. Overtime always favors offense, because the D is gassed. The Bills won the coin toss and the offense couldn't capitalize. The D was not stellar late, but you can't hang the outcome on them.

Week 12, Bills v. Iggles - Predict the Score
skibum replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let's face it. The Eagles have a better record against better teams. They're playing at home after beating the Chiefs at Arrowhead. The Bills have only one real quality win this season, while 3 of their 5 losses have been to garbage teams. They can be fun to watch at times, but big picture says they are just not a top-tier team. It's going to be a long day for the Bills: Iggles 31 Bills 16 (I hope I'm wrong) -
If There's No 12th Defender, is Dorsey Still Employed??
skibum replied to theRalph's topic in The Stadium Wall
Who knows, who cares - but can we please stop acting like the 12 men on the field thing was even among the top-10 reasons for this loss? -
Daboll yes, Frazier no.
-
Yes, honestly. Maybe it would be better if he was just the DC, but I think he's clearly built a winning culture, which is huge. And I don't know where everyone gets off blaming him for dropped balls, interceptions, fumbles and missed tackles. It's not an NFL head coach's job to teach fundamentals - this isn't Pop Warner. No, McD is not the best situational strategist, but his defense has performed admirably this year in the wake of a massive wave of injuries, plus their having to spend 2/3 of every game on the field because the O can't hold onto the ball. I am fully willing to accept that the troubles on Offense are more on Dorsey and the players than McDermott. If you want to fire McDermott for hiring Dorsey and other sub-standard assistants in the first place, I guess that's one way to look at it. But I don't blame him for the poor performance on the field. And I can't believe everyone is acting like the 12 men on the field thing is the reason why the Bills lost the game last night. It's like blaming Scott Norwood for losing SB 25 to Jeff Hostetler's Giants.
-
I guess I don't understand all the talk that it's all McDermott's fault and Dorsey is just the scapegoat. The same players put up way more points under Daboll, and this offense is clearly not doing as well since Dorsey took over. And with McDermott running the defense, it is abundantly clear that he is counting on his OC to manage the offense. Oh, and by the way, McDermott's defense has lost half it's starters, spends 2/3 of every game on the field, and yet has managed to keep the Bills in most of their games.

Fire McDermott - 12 On the Field INEXCUSABLE
skibum replied to WEATHER DOT COM's topic in The Stadium Wall
This loss was all on the players. It's not McDermott's fault that the only hope left in the game was that the Donkeys would miss a field goal. Picks, drops, and fumbles are not the coach's fault, sorry. This isn't Pop Warner. -
White jerseys, blue pants in Cincy for Sunday Night Football
skibum replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't even notice what color they're wearing. I looked at the picture and my first thought was, "isn't that what they wear every week?" Why is this important? -
To all the folks who suggest he be traded - Traded for what??? He's a first round pick who can't get on the field, even when injuries strike. Who is press-boxed in favor of off-the-couch Josh freaking Norman! Who forced his GM to cough up a 3rd rounder to bring in yet another vet at the deadline! How do you wash that kind of stink off? I think they're stuck with him. Either the light bulb goes on, or they cut him in the off-season. Maybe they try to stash him on the practice squad, but it seems like they think he can't play pro ball at all.
