  1. I read the piece and it is just Sullivan being Sullivan. Almost all coaches hire assistants that they know and have worked with in the past. Nothing new here. No real story, so let's make one up.
  2. And what new ownership is taking over next year? Do you know something we don't?
  3. ND played 5 teams rated in the pre-season top 20. I wouldn't exactly call that weak competition. Te'o did not look good against Alabama as did most of his ND team mates. There were numerous reasons for this, not the least of which was the blatant holding that was going on by Alabama the entire game, particularly on those long runs. Hard to be at your best when you are getting manhandled on every play. I suggest you look at film of all of his games before dismissing him based on one game.
  4. That was hilarious.
  5. I say bring it on. I agree that Lindell has been very consistent over the years, but he is getting up there in age and he just can't get the distance on kickoffs or FG's anymore. Nothing wrong with bringing someone in to compete. If they prove they are the better option then keep them, if not, keep Lindell. No harm in competition.
  6. I have to admit that I have had some pretty pissed off reactions to Bills games over the years. This however was just sad.
  7. I like the idea of signing Jason Campbell and drafting the best QB available in RD2. RD1 we go with BPA.
  8. Nassib will be long gone by the 4th round.
  9. I like what they have done so far. Can't complain about the choice of HC, I think Marrone will be a good one. Hiring Pettine from the Jets I believe was a good move as well. Hackett and Marrone have worked well together before, so I see no reason to believe it won't work here. Hackett comes from a coaching family and is an up and comer. Of course time will tell, but since this is a forum for opinions, mine is that they are moving in the right direction.
  10. This. Completely agree. This is a guy who is on the same page with the HC. They obviously know what they want to do with this offense. There are no guarantees no matter who you hire, but at least they have a solid idea of what they want to do.
  11. Alabama played an exceptional game last night. They did everything right. ND program is not quite there yet, but getting to the BCS Championship game this year was a good start. I'm just not buying into the hype. I think they played a great game against an inferior team. Plain and simple. They are a good team with good players and a good coach. Are they as good as people are hyping them to be? Meh, not buying it. A lot of these BCS "championship" games have been mismatches. This one proved no exception. It is the glaring flaw created by the NCAA in their system of determining a champion. Can't wait for the playoff system.
  12. I would like Pettine because he knows the AFC East very well. It would be nice to win some division games again. Having said that, if he isn't that excited about coming here, then let's move on and get someone who wants to come to Buffalo and believes this team can win.
  13. OK, you win. The 2012-13 Alabama football team is the greatest in the history of college football. Notre Dame should be happy that they were allowed to occupy the same field. Happy now?
  14. If you read any of what I have posted I completely agree that Alabama was clearly the better team. I have no issue with that. My point that you seem to be missing is that the officials set the tone early and it definitely had an effect. Not saying ND would have won or should have won. In fact just the opposite. What I am saying is that Alabama was good enough. They didn't need any help. But they got it anyway and it definitely affected the final score. Without the bad calls it probably would have been 28-14 instead of 42-14. I think everyone is heaping way to much praise on Alabama. My guess is that they will not go undefeated next year either. I personally did not believe ND would beat them. ND program is not there yet. Alabama is very strong and deserved to win. It doesn't change the fact that they go plenty of help early in the game and it made a differenc. LOL.
  15. I think that Seattle may beat Atlanta. Based on last week's performance, no way Houston beats NE.
  16. The interesting thing to me was the Jason Campbell rating. I have been an advocate for signing him to be the "placeholder" QB until whomever we draft is ready. I think he could run the "read option" offense that seems to be the current trend in the NFL.
  17. I did hear the official in the booth. Did you happen to hear his accent? Not buying that the ND player interfered with the FC. Just not buying it. And momentum plays a huge part in these games the officials took it away from ND and made it clear they would not be getting any calls. I have no issue with the fact that Alabama dominated. Just think they got a little help early on.
  18. And this is why we don't care. I repeat, it was one game. I agree they got dominated. It does not mean that they can't beat anyone in the SEC. Alabama is the best team in the country and nobody else in the SEC can beat them either. Still calling BS.
  19. This. For all the ND haters, a little BCS Championship history for you. 1999 Florida State 46 Virginia Tech 29. 2001 Miami 37 Nebraska 19, 2004 USC 55 Oklahoma 14, 2006 Florida 41 Ohio State 14, 2011 Alabama 21 LSU 0. These BCS Championship games are rarely close. Not disputing that Alabama dominated last night, but it happens a lot in these games and in no way does it make ND a bad football team.
  20. Calling BS on this one. Alabama played a great game last night, but let's not get carried away. Notre Dame beat 5 teams that were ranked in the top 25 this year. They didn't play well last night and there are many reasons for that. Not the least of which was the terrible officiating early in the game. With the score 7-0, Notre Dame threw a pass for what should have been a first down. That was taken away and they were forced to punt. On the ensuing punt, the Alabama receiver clearly fumbled and Notre Dame recovered. Again, it was taken away by the refs. On the ensuing drive, Alabama scored again to put ND in a huge hole. If the refs hadn't taken away possession twice, ND may have scored to make it 7-7. It would have been a very different game. Alabama dominated last night, make no mistake about it, but it was one game and far from ND's best effort. ND beat every team on it's schedule and five of those teams were ranked in the top 25. Alabama did not. Simple as that. Alabama dominated the game last night, but it was one game. ND got screwed repeatedly by the refs early on and it put them in a huge hole. Clearly Alabama was the better team last night, but it in no way diminishes what ND did this year. If you think it does, then you don't know a thing about college football.
  21. Clearly Alabama was the better team last night. That in no way diminishes what Notre Dame did this year. They beat five team ranked in the pre-season top 25. They deserved to be there and just got beat by a better team last night. Manti Te'o obviously did not have his best game last night, but there are reasons for that. My guess, and it's only a guess based on what I've seen of him, is that he will be a very good NFL linebacker for many years. I understand that haters gotta hate, so hate on. It has no effect on reality.
  22. Love my Irish, but Alabama is just a better team. Fitting if the best team wins.
  23. Really? A thread about how many times he blinked during his press conference? Wow.
