Couldn't possibly disagree with you two any more. All of the potential candidates were evaluated, most were interviewed, and the Bills decided that Marrone was the best fit. They were decisive and hired him as soon as the decision was made. Whether they made the right decision remains to be seen, but the process was fine. As far as hiring friends, please find me one HC in the NFL who has not hired people that he has worked with before or knows.

I'm still not convinced Fitz will 1. Win the QB competition or 2. Be on the roster opening day. If the coaches are truly evaluating film from last year, they will see what we all have seen. He is just plain incompetent. Nice guy, terrible QB. I believe he gets cut, Jackson starts and possibly the draftee takes over at some point, but I do not believe Fitz will be the starting QB on week one.

So you're looking for the "perfect" QB? One that does everythiing well? Good luck with that my friend. I don't believe he exists. ALL players have strengths and weaknesses. What Whaley is saying is that they will look for a QB whose strengths fit the system. That is not compromising, that is looking for the right guy for the type of offense the coaches want to run. Makes perfect sense to me.

Perhaps I lack objectivity because I have actually seen Fitzpatrick play. If this team has any chance of turning things around, he absolutely can not be the starting QB. He has demonstrated that he cannot perform consistently, he is incredibly inaccurate and he makes mistakes that cost the team wins. If he stays as a backup and emergency starter, then fine, but otherwise he should not be on the roster. If he starts, I can absolutely guarantee this team will have another losing season. And that guarantee comes from actually watching him perform over two plus seasons.

Thank you Captain Sunshine. I don't believe that Fitz will remain on the roster. If he does, he most certainly will not be the starter. Jackson seems to fit the offensive philosophy of Marrone/Hackett. I would have no problem with him being the starter opening day while a rookie learns the system in order to take over. Seems like a pretty good strategy to me. Mark my words, signing Jackson will have zero impact on the Bills drafting a QB. They still will draft the best QB they can get in either round 1 or 2. Fitz will be gone soon enough and Corp is there as QB 3.

I agree. That was the biggest flaw during the Gailey regime. They were terrible evaluators of talent and did not put players in position to succeed. Good coaches do that.

Not necessarily. If a particular defensive scheme asks a player to do things that are not his strongsuit, then he virtually has no chance of success. Conversely if a DC recognizes a player's strengths and puts them in a position to succeed then that player performs at a much higher level.

You can't just look at stats. You have to actually watch the games. Fitzpatrick was absolutely putrid. Statistics have to be put into context according to the situation. I'd say that 43rd out of 65 sounds about right. There should be no debate. This guy needs to go.

The name Redskins is offensive to all native Americans. What I meant is a focus group made up of Native Americans from various regions. Work together and come up with a name that honors Native American culture. Disagree that team names are not meant to represent or "honor" a particular individual, region or group. I agree that sports is entertainment, but there is no reason that a team name can not represent a region, individual or group without being derogatory.

They should sit down with a Native American group and come up with a name that honors the spirit and culture of that group without being offensive. That way, they keep the tradition and display some sensitivity to the group they are trying to honor.

The team sucked all the way around. The defense sucked and I blame Wannstache. The offense sucked and I blame Fitz. They were equally bad.

No great loss. I remember a thread on here awhile back debating whether or not Jones actually has the ability to catch the football. Apparently the new coaching staff agrees that he is lacking in that department.

I think you would be hard pressed to find 7-10 Starting QB's that Fitz has consistently outperformed for 3 years. I believe both he and the Bills need to start fresh. I would bring in Jason Campell and draft the best QB available in RD 1. Fitz may be capable of being a decent backup, but I don't think his future lies in Buffalo.

You obviously have not been watching the past two plus years. Fitzpatrick is putrid. I'll take almost any of the FA QB's out there over him. It's not foolish to not want someone on your team that can't hit the broad side of a barn. If this guy is our starting QB next year, it makes absolutely no difference who the coaching staff is. They will once again lose games that they should win because the QB is inadequate.

I believe it is a stupid idea. Home playoff games are awarded based on regular season records and the home team has earned any advantage that playing at home affords, including the weather. The Super Bowl on the other hand is held at a neutral site and the elements should not be a factor. I know there have been games played in the rain, but rain and cold are two completely different animals. Holding the game outdoors in New Jersey in February is a stupid idea.

One of my friends said they should just play the third quarter in the dark and let Beyonce keep going. Make them play around the stage. Now that would have been entertaining. Enjoyed the show though. Her musical style may not be everyone's cup of tea, but c'mon man, who doesn't want to look at Beyonce?

Depending on who is there at 8, I would take a QB in the first if Wilson, Smith or Barkley is there. If not, take BPA in the first and best QB available in the second. BPA in rds 3-6, but try and get a couple of LB's. I would also listen to trade offers in the first, and if someone blows you away, then trade down. If not, get your QB.

Beyonce is most definitely a very beautiful woman. Not exactly my taste in music, but I'd be willing to bet she'll be looking good on that halftime show.

Wilson has been my guy since early this season. Even though he didn't have a great Senior season, he competed well in a tough league. Watching him at the Senior Bowl, he seemed to have a great week of practice and a pretty good game as well. I like this kid from watching him at Arkansas over the past couple of years and I think he would be a good fit for the Bills.

I still say Tyler Wilson is the guy. Wouldn't mind E.J. Manuel either. I believe either would provide a better option than Fitz.

It wasn't Fitz's fault. It was George W. Bush's. Probably "single handedly" is the wrong terminology, but IMO there were numerous games over the past three years when Fitz had the opportunity to make a difference in a close game and failed. Add to that the numerous throws that he makes in every single game where he just plain misses the open receiver, as well as the really bad picks, and you have the reason that most people on this board do not believe that Fitz is capable of being a good starting QB. Count me among them.

I agree. Why would fans in Toronto rally around the Bills when it is not their team and the Bills have pretty much stunk up the Rogers Centre every time they have gone there to play? Maybe if they went up there and put on a good show, they might actually win some fans and support and the atmosphere would be different. This makes sense for the team from a financial standpoint and it is up to the team to go up there and perform and win over the fans. So far they have given them very little reason to come onboard.
