  1. In all fairness, when they gave Fitz the contract, I believe they were 5-2, he was playing well and most people thought the team was headed in the right direction. It was a good faith move that backfired. Fitz was never the same after taking that hit to the chest from London Fletcher. He lost his mojo and never got it back. In retrospect, yes, it was a bad contract, but at the time, most people thought it was a good idea.
  2. Never lost faith, so it doesn't need to be restored. I'm glad they released Fitz and looking forward to the new regime. Nobody likes losing, and I wish we could have won more over the past few years, but I continued to hope the Bills would win each and every week. That hasn't changed, so I don't need some sensational move to "restore my faith".
  3. My guess is no. It was probably OK when he got the big money, not so much when he sucked and got cut. You lost me when you said he was a serviceable QB. He flat out sucked. Nice guy, terrible QB. Good riddance.
  4. Exactly. That's the kind of guy that is skeered. Don't want anyone like that.
  5. If they sign and play well, no chance they will be released. Anyone afraid of coming to Buffalo because they are afraid of being cut is not a guy that I want on my team.
  6. I'll take him over Fitz in a heartbeat, but stay tuned. I'm sure that will change at some point before game one.
  7. I hate when people say because someone wants to dump Fitz that they believe he is the only problem with the team. We get it, the defense sucked last year. You can not however dump the whole defense. The defensive scheme sucked and the D coordinator sucked and we have already changed those two things. The QB also sucked and he has fully demonstrated that he is not capable of consistently good play at the position. Time to dump him. As stated, I would prefer to sign Jason Campbell in FA and draft the best of the top five QB's, whomever is available in RD2. In round 1, take BPA.
  8. I would take almost any QB over Fitz. The guy sucks and I don't buy your premise. There are several QB's in the draft who I believe would perform better than Fitz. If you're looking for the perfect QB, look on because he doesn't exist. All have flaws and I'd take any of the top 5 QB's in this year's draft over Fitz. As for FA, I'd take Jason Campell over Fitz in a heartbeat. He needs to go if this team has any chance at all of succeeding next season.
  9. This. Jason Campbell would be a good addition. I think he's better than either Fitz or Tarvaris
  10. My mistake, I clicked the link that said Post Combine rankings and that is what it shows. Seems kind of confusing to me, but you are right the one you posted is the third edition and the most recent.
  11. Those were his pre-combine rankings. Here are his post combine rankings. Manuel is not even in the top 5. Quarterback 1. Geno Smith, West Virginia 2. Matt Barkley, USC 3. Mike Glennon, N.C. State 4. Ryan Nassib, Syracuse 5. Landry Jones, Oklahoma
  12. Wouldn't care one way or another. Nelson is decent, but far from elite. He also is pretty fragile and seems to get banged up alot.
  13. Greg Williams only HC experience before joining the Bills was as a HIGH SCHOOL coach. It was a bad hire. Marrone has experience both as a coordinator in the NFL and now as a HC at a Division I college. Huge difference. Trust me, Marrone is NOT Greg Williams. LOL I love to come to this board every day because the sheer optimism of the posters lifts me up.
  14. Couldn't disagree with you more. And the Alabama thing? Please. Alabama is a great college football team. They would lose almost every single Sunday against almost all NFL teams, the Bills included. I can't understand where your pessimism is coming from. If they had kept Gailey and his staff, I could understand maybe, but they didn't do that. They canned him and brought in a whole new staff. Free agency and the draft haven't even happened yet, so there's not telling what the roster will look like in training camp, let alone on opening day. Most certainly this coaching staff is more competent than the last. There is talent on this roster already, so it seems to me that it makes sense that the team will be better this year, not worse.
  15. Relax man, it's only football. Watch the games, enjoy your Bills and don't worry about wins and losses. I watch every week even when they suck and then I move on with my life. I have always and will always be a Bills fan, but we don't control whether they win or lose. I have every reason to believe that they will be better this year than last. New (better) head coach, new (better DC), new (better OC). I truly believe that this will be a good season and even if it's not, I'll watch the games with friends, have some beers and enjoy my Sundays.
  16. So there is absolutely no hope that the Bills can win this season? Not buying it. What this team lacked last year can be fixed. They need to fix the defense and I believe that can be done through scheme and coaching with some guys added in FA and the draft. It can be done this year. And they definitely need a new QB. Fitz made too many poor throws and critical mistakes and replacing him with almost anyone will be an improvement. I say they make the playoffs this year.
  17. I believe at least three or four of these guys would be an improvement over Fitz. I would take Smith, Barkley, Wilson or E.J. Manuel over Fitz in a heartbeat. Fitz just doesn't have it, period. Nice guy, terrible QB.
  18. Fitz will be gone and rightfully so. He had his shot and he failed. Time to move on. I don't think Stevie or anyone else would even blink an eye.
  19. Could not disagree more. Although I would agree that the defense was equally at fault for many of the team's losses. However after watching Fitz for three years, I have to conclude that he just doesn't have it. He misses too many easy throws, makes too many bad decisions at critical times that lead to interceptions and he just doesn't seem to have the capability to lead the team to win close games. He may be a serviceable backup QB, but definitely not starting QB material.
  20. Right, we know this because he wouldn't pay Mario Williams or Mark Anderson last offseason. Oh wait.....
  21. Would love to have Jason Campbell while we develop a younger QB.
  22. Funny. but I seem to remember having two QB on the roster who have started and won games for four different NFL teams. Over exaggerate much? I predict the Bills will have a better record in 2013 than in 2012, merely by the coaching changes. Hope we get a better QB, but if we can improve the defense, it would pay huge dividends.
  23. I heard a Brit say this once. "Neither did the rest of the world, that's what happened to the bloody empire." Now that's funny right there.
