9 In 1 Season How Much Different Could It Be ??
xsoldier54 replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually with quite a bit smaller of a sample size, Thad Lewis' numbers were eerily similar to Ryan Fitzpatrick's. Both turn the ball over way too much with fumbles and INT's outnumbering TD's. Fitz had a QB rating of 82. Lewis was 81. I don't believe things would have been much different if the team had kept Fitz. They had seen enough of him and decided to move on. Suggest we all do the same. -
No OL in the first three rounds? I don't think that would be a good draft. I like the ILB and WR picks, but we need help at OL desperately. Gotta draft the best OL available at some point in the first three rounds.
-
Thad Lewis is under contract for next year. He ain't goin anywhere. He proved that he has some talent and can fill in when needed.
-
Number one WR. Gotta give the QB a big target to throw to. Someone who can go up and make plays. We just don't seem to have that. OL could use some help as well.

This. I love the "experts" on this board that make posts like this. Of course they have all the requisite knowledge to not only coach, but run the entire organization. Why has nobody in the league hired these guys yet?
-
Why have you got one? Having two RB's with over 900 yards rushing tells me that they did something right on offense. The problems with the offense were at the QB and WR positions. They still don't have enought depth at WR and the QB situation was completely unstable. I don't think that this staff, with the possible exception of ST coach Danny Crossman did anything that deserves firing. There is no excuse for how poorly the kick coverage teams performed and our complete lack of a return game on the other side. He needs to go. Marrone, Hacket and Pettine? Not so much. There were winnable games that were lost this year and that has got to be corrected. When you have a chance to win a game in the NFL, you have got to figure out a way to get that done. This season they did not and hopefully they learned a bit along the way.

2hd half thread Bills at Cheatriots
xsoldier54 replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And that got us exactly what? Beat by 14 points. Total yards doesn't mean squat if you can't stop the run and can't tackle on ST and take stupid penalties. Same old Bills. I didn't see any reason for optimism this off season. They looked like the same team we have had for the past 10 years or so. Different coaches. Some different players. Exact same result. -

I agree. This team should have won at least 9 games with more disciplined play. They gave away at least 3 games just by their own stupid mistakes and poor ST play. Different staff. Lots of different players. Exact same result. -

Sorry guys. I just can't take this one too seriously. I had absolutely no expectation that the Bills would win this game. They are playing their typical Bills game. Mistake filled bumblefest. All I can do is laugh. -

NE is NOT MIami. Did you really expect this team to go into New England and beat a team that is playing for a 1st round bye and home field advantage? New England is just a better team. There was no way the Bills were ever going to win this game. 6-10 again and really no indication of progress for this team this year. Hopefully next year will be better. -
Wouldn't mind this idea, but you could still keep the divisions in each conference, just rearrange geographically.

I admire your optimism. Go Bills!

Why don't the bills run sweep plays with spiller
xsoldier54 replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One good season does not make him an All Pro. I ask again, did you watch yesterday's game and have you been watching him THIS YEAR? He shows no desire to do anything except head for the sideline at every possible opportunity. He has regressed this year and the coaching has nothing to do with it. Neither does the play calling. Freddie had no trouble yesterday grinding out yardage and eating up precious clock at the same time. Spiller will NEVER be an elite back. He doesn't have the heart for it. I realize you like him, but I have no stake in it whatsoever. I want him to succeed, but what I saw yesterday was pathetic. It is not the first time I have felt this way and I am not alone. You can call it short sighted if you want, but I am only commenting on what I see. If he is of no use to this offense, then get rid of him and draft someone who will be more productive in this offense. -

Did you watch the game yesterday? Spiller is a kitty who loathes contact of any kind. He should not be featured in this offense, only a bit player. And if he won't turn upfield instead of running out of bounds at every opportunity then he needs to sit his ass down. -

Spiller showed me yesterday that he will never be an elite running back regardless of what plays you run. He is afraid of contact and runs wide and out of bounds almost every single time he gets the ball regardless of the play call. That play at the end of the first half epitomized C.J. Spiller. All he had to do is go down in bounds and the Bills could have let the play clock run before punting and Miami would have had about 5 seconds left in the half. Instead he gives them the ball near midfield with a minute to play. Very lucky that the D saved his ass. I haven't been happy with his constant attempts to get outside all year and yesterday he was just plain putrid. The Bills should get whatever they can for him in the offseason and move on by picking a RB in the draft. Someone with a bit of toughness that can run north and south instead of constantly running out of bounds. Time to move on. -
I always root for the Bills to win. However, I don't think anyone who wants them to lose to get a better draft position has anything to worry about. I don't see any chance of the Bills going up to Foxborough and beating NE. It just isn't realistic. NE's offense is not Miami's and they are extremely tough to beat at home. As far as I know, the Pats are still playing for home field advantage throughout the playoffs and I see no reason to believe that this team that hasn't won a game that meant anything in over a decade will suddenly rise to the occasion. Nice win yesterday, but let's not get delirious here.

Sorry folks but I just can't share the optimism that many have displayed with regards to this game. This team has been too inconsistent and error prone to make me believe they will win a game against a team that is fighting for the playoffs. With Lewis starting I have no idea what to expect. I will watch and root them on like always, but I am not feeling too good about their chances of winning.

Not to be negative about Woods
xsoldier54 replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The helmet was knocked partway off on the score. He took it off and then put it right back on. No penalty for that. I noticed it too, but when I saw the replay, it was clear that the helmet was knocked partway off. He had every right to take it off and re-adjust it. -
CJ Spiller is an Outstanding Football Player
xsoldier54 replied to Rob's House's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spiller is a tremendous football player and athlete. I disagree however that he runs the plays that are called. More often than not, he runs sideways instead of north and south. And please don't tell me that is because the hole is not there. It is by choice. He does not like to run the ball between the tackles, period. Now having said that, I applaud his playing through the high ankle sprain this year and maybe that is the reason he tries to bounce everything outside. Can't say that I am pleased with his production this year, but the injury probably has a lot to do with it. -
Unrealistic Expectations = Disappointment
xsoldier54 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe this team has played below it's potential. There is enough talent on this roster to be a playoff team. What they seem to lack is discipline. Too many mistakes that have cost them winnable games. When you have an opportunity to win a game in the NFL, you have to take advantage of that opportunity. That is the difference between this team and some that will make the wild card. It's not talent, it's mental toughness and discipline. -
Anyone want to discuss the Jags?

Anyone else feeling like they just don't care?

Very sorry for your loss. You are absolutely right. We should cherish the time that we have with friends and family because you never know when it might end. All the best to you and family in this time of loss. -

I agree that it is about more than the football. And I agree with the poster that said it's a family event. My son and daughter-in-law and my two grandsons and my buddy John come over every Sunday to watch the games and I enjoy their company. But when we're watching what happened against Atlanta and Tampa, it drains any ounce of fun out of watching the game. LIke I said, I'll be watching the next three weeks as long as the team gives me a reason to watch. If they are as bad as they were last week, we definitely will be switching to a better game. I remember a few years ago when I was in the Army in Oklahoma I used to watch the games on Sunday ticket and there was this young Captain that used to come over and watch the games with me. He always brought some wings with him. During one particularly putrid performance, I switched to another game. He got so pissed off, he left and took his wings with him. I didn't care that he left, because he used to drive me crazy talking to the TV as if the players could hear him, but damn, he could've left the wings. Obviously not my first rodeo, I have been watching this team since it's inception, but man it gets old. -
I have tried really hard this week to muster up some interest in reading the various stories and discussion threads, but I'm finding that it just isn't in me. After so many losing seasons and so many years with no playoffs, I'm finding that I just have very little interest in what happens between now and the end of the season. After the past two weeks, I just have nothing left emotionally to give to this team this year. The games are meaningless and the stories just don't interest me. I'll watch these last three games if they are watchable, but if they are anything like last week, I probably will switch to another game. Other than that, I just can't find the energy to give a crap about what anyone on this team does. That includes players, coaches and front office. I know I can't be the only one that's feeling this way.

I challenge you to watch as many of the Bowl games as is convenient for you this year. Not talking about just the BCS bowls, the lesser ones are often more entertaining. Then if you feel that they are not more interesting and exciting to watch than the average NFL game, I will concede your argument. I personally have been amazed at how good most of the matchups for the Bowl games have been over the past few years. Lots of excitement and close games. Just my opinion, but I tend to agree that college football is more entertaining than the NFL.
