Bills (5-1) vs Fish (0-6) Game Balls!

The red unis look good and I'd like to see them more often -
Bills rank 6th in one of the most important categories...
cage replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was about to post the same. It really shows how historically bad the Dolphins have built that team to be. Conversely, we have to feel pretty good about where we are on this one. Good metric, I haven't seen it before! -
Seems like he should be on our Practice Squad

I like the Reds!

Who will we get next week? So far the Fins are the only team who are yet to experience FitzMagic, unless that 4th quarter today counts? #MakesMeNervous

2 trades to win this years super bowl...but at what cost
cage replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, but they don't need a starter at LB, just a strong back-up and ST contributor. Plus again, he wouldn't cost anything in trade compensation. -

There's 2 games before the trade deadline and I would think that Beane will take a close look at what he has using these games as a test. First up the Fins. My guess is that they'll have a pass happy game. Lets see what Duke Williams can do now that he's had a game under his belt. And I imagine Robert Foster will be back. They'll take a close look as to whether this WR core can handle some more aggressive passing and determine whether they need another WR. Second is the Eagles which will be a big test for both the O and D against some stronger competition. DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffrey should be back by then and we'll see how the D handles all that. Also plenty of test there for the O to show a complete balance game. I would think that any deal would be triggered after those tests. Maybe someone like Emmanuele Sanders (in last year of contract) could be a WR target? Also, I'm thinking Geno Atkins DT from Bengals as an upgrade over Peko might work. If they need a LB, it could be someone like Bucannon who was just cut by Bucs and they don't have to give anything up for. They should be able to get all three w/o parting w/ 2020 first round pick... -

I checked out his post-game press conference and to his credit he handled it well. I was half-expecting him to be in meltdown mode as well

Truth,... with that one INT being mentioned over and over again

At this stage there's no way anyone is paying a 1st for Green. To me even a 3rd is too high. I'll bid a 4th.

Revisiting Beane's most subtly brilliant move as GM
cage posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While there are other more high profile moves, I'd like make a shout out to an under-the-radar move that shows how good Beane really is. The trade for Ryan Bates. I can't recall another example of a team trading and established NFL player for an UDFA rookie and scoring the win in that trade. Eli Harold was an established NFL player. Not a star, but certainly established and still young. He wasn't going to make the team and as players like Darryl Johnson were stepping up. Beane not only pulled off the trading of an asset that was going to be cut, but targeted a rookie who nobody else knew. Bates demonstrates his value, makes the team, offers position flexibility and yesterday was a key part of our 4th quarter victory. I don't know what Bates will eventually turn into, but it kind of reminds me of when Polian snagged Steve Tasker, a guy nobody knew at the time, as Houston tried to sneak him through waivers to bring back from IR. https://www.mcall.com/sports/eagles/mc-spt-eagles-column-saturday-moore-20190915-5nsoc6ujfzfkdj3r5442vus56u-story.html- 106 replies

Status of AFC: Should Bills Go All In For 2019?
cage replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This a very good topic for the bye week as the NFL has now become a much more activity trading league. The trade deadline will see the lower rung teams dumping players for draft picks like we've seen for years in the other major sports. The article below shows several teams that gearing up for a big run. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/patriots-chiefs-ravens-saints-eagles-seahawks-among-teams-already-laying-groundwork-for-frenzied-trade-deadline/ Where do the Bills fit into that is the question that I'm sure they'll be talking about this week. I love the way they built this team from the ground up and this new trading trend kind of flies in the face of that. Plus Beane got burned on Kelvin Benjamin trade two years ago in a similar situation. If they're going to make a move, I'd love to see them get Geno Atkins from Bengals (sending Peko back to PS for this year). I'd also like to see us get a better 3rd RB. I'm mixed on Yeldon and Gore will need more help as the season progresses. I don't think I would trade for Gordon, so it would have to be someone else. Maybe Drake or Bellage from the Dolphins? Von Miller would be amazing, but the price would be pretty high, I imagine. -

If the Bills Trade at the Deadline.. What Position?
cage replied to elijah's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think its important to look at some of the video review articles and not just come to knee jerk conclusions based on an untimely penalty or a couple bad plays that stand out. For those who subscribe to The Athletic, Joe Buscaglia does an All-22 review of each player for each game. Based on first four games this season Dawkins is ranked in that weekly analysis as the #4 highest graded player on the team, top rated OL, and would be highest ranked offensive player, except for Singletary who has very limited snaps. https://theathletic.com/1258181/2019/10/01/bills-all-22-review-dissecting-josh-allens-day-and-why-theres-more-to-zay-jones-than-meets-the-eye/ I don't think we'll be looking to trade a ton for Trent Williams... -
Would Kyle Williams come back to the Bills if needed?
cage replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While we all love his career, I'm not sure that a retired player is working out and pushing himself in the way that an active one needs to, particularly at a physically demanding position like DT -
Nice to see and well deserved. Keep moving up... https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-rookie-power-rankings-week-5-devin-bush-leads-a-wide-open-rookie-of-the-year-race/ 14. Dawson Knox, TE, Buffalo Bills Stats: 4 games -- 8 receptions for 144 yards and a touchdown; 1 carry for nine yards Knox cracks the list after trending up each of the past two weeks. He has made some high-difficulty catches, including a body-contorting reception this weekend against the Patriots. He was also part of a Buffalo team that enabled Frank Gore to rush for 109 yards.

Bill Belichick Defends Jones Hit on Josh Allen!
cage replied to jethro_tull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to agree with this view. Allen committed to the run and knew where the first down flag was. He was going for it and was going full steam to barrel into anyone in front of him to get there. 15 yard penalty none-the-less, but I don't think its a deliberate attempt to injure. -
We need to draft a big, physical WR...

Great observation(s). I think this is an area that they'll examine closely and will improve during the year. 3rd quarter has been rough so far, but then he finds his groove in the 4th.

They get rid of every promising player and pick up a clear bust.... what is the strategy??
