My early read on Nix
Mike in Syracuse replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't disagree with a lot of your post but I'm still not sure about Modrak and Guy. We just don't know who was pulling the strings in the OBD war room on draft day. Guy has done a fair job going out and finding players when we were crushed by injuries. Granted, none of them were amazing but he could have done worse and we did get Brohm. That might be a steal, might not...only time will tell. -
[Link] Are Cowher, Bills In Contract Negotiations?
Mike in Syracuse replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Supposedly he's looking for a commitment from Russ Brandon ("RB") on what they're willing to spend on player salaries. On a side note, does this tool realize he's using a local municipalities website to become the next Drudge? -
National Championship - Alabama vs Texas
Mike in Syracuse replied to ProjectPat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You stay classy Austin! Bama is going to CRUSH Texas. If it wasn't for Nebraska's idiot kicker they wouldn't even be in this game and would have lost to a VERY mediocre Nebraska team. -
Leslie Frazier, Tampa 2, and Run Defense
Mike in Syracuse replied to silvermike's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why is it everyone equates the Tampa 2 with having all undersized fast guys? Just because Jauron ran it that way doesn't mean everyone will. Hell, I think if he could have Jauron would have run a Tampa 10 with 10 db's and a tackle. The Tampa 2 is primarily a coverage scheme. Frazier uses a blended version of the Tampa 2, big guys up front with a T2 scheme in the secondary. There's no reason you can't -
Why are we so eager to ignore history
Mike in Syracuse replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really? You really want to be the first team to lose 5 super bowls? You do bring up a good point though. Maybe the yardstick shouldn't be rings but SB appearances. Parcells and Holmgren have taken 2 different teams to the dance which is a MASSIVE accomplishment. -
It's been stated time and time again. NO coach in modern history has won a second super bowl ring with a different team. None, no one, nada yet we seem to be screaming for a named coach, preferably one already wearing a ring. Shouldn't we all just take a step back and wait for the Bills to go through their process and select the best coach for the team. Wearing a ring is no guarantee of future success. Matching your leadership to your staff/personnel is.

True, Pat Williams is many things, fast is not one of them. Perhaps you're right Lori, I just have visions (aka nightmares) of another Greg Williams experiment.

I'm not crazy with the coordinator route but I did read something on the official Bills cesspool...errrr...forum that I found encouraging: I actually had a discussion about Frazier with MasterRWayne last night pertaining to the Broncos. We both agree he will likely get the job, and may lure Raheem Morris to Denver as the DC. Frazier's temperament is ideal for Denver. Let's face it: The Broncos have a lot of cocky dudes on their team who love to talk even though they ain't never won nothing. Guys like Cutler and Marshall need someone even keeled to keep them in line. Frazier fits the bill there. He is very much from the Tony Dungy school of coaching. John Madden once said he was more a Buddy Ryan-style coach. I must say, I do like the STFU and win something approach. Here's the full bio: http://boards.buffalobills.com/showthread.php?t=213936

This doesn't make any sense. Frazer is a Tampa 2 guy and Nix is on record as saying small and fast doesn't work here. If the Bills hire another flunky coordinator I'm done. I'm not putting myself through another 3 years of failure and misery till we "clean house" again.

La Canfora says he doubts Cowher comes to Buffalo
Mike in Syracuse replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Cowher isn't talking (which he isn't) and the Bills aren't talking (which they aren't) then nobody knows squat. My advice, ignore everything that doesn't start with "(Cowher/Brandon/Nix/Berchtold) said......" -
My kingdom for a linebacker that can get off a block and not get run off the screen. That's never gonna happen if we keep putting 220lb LB's on the field. With that weight/size differential it's like me blocking my son.

Perry Fewell to interview with Giants and Bears
Mike in Syracuse replied to BLZFAN4LIFE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"Fewell said he considers himself a long shot for the job with the team preferring an experienced coach" Translation: No Brian Schottenheimer, no Ron Rivera, no Leslie Frazier, no Cam Cameron, no assistant projects etc. Ironic since Fewell has double the head coaching experience of any of those guys. -
I have bad thoughts about my great uncle
Mike in Syracuse replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As long as you don't have thoughts (or memories) of your uncle jamming his hand down the front of your pants I wouldn't worry about it. -
There is absolutely NOTHING you can do in a gym that prevents you from breaking your arm or breaking your leg. I didn't see what caused Poz's break but there isn't a training technique or philosophy that would've prevented Wood's injury. A tremendous amount of today's sports injuries are to the connective tissues. I think it's becoming obvious that the human frame can only accommodate a certain amount of musculature. Overdevelop and you're just going to rip up the squishy stuff that holds you together. Bodybuilders don't fit in this equation because other than lifting the weights, they don't do any of the athletic moves that a modern NFL player does.

I wasn't happy to hear that Welker was injured. It seems like that kind of mentality just begs for bad karma. I would have laughed hard though if the Houston CB had stood over him and screamed: "YOUR KNEE !@#$ING SUCKS"
-
Like many of you I don't have a clue what's going on at OBD. Nix sure is playing the hell out of this though, not bad for a first timer. Is there any scenario short of Lombardi being exhumed and revived to take over the Bills? I think I've read every possible combination today. Apparently the Bills are interviewing EVERYONE!

PER KFFL: Jauron Favorite For Giants DC Job
Mike in Syracuse replied to KentHull's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't wait to see the Giants D facing at 3rd and 3 only to see Jauron's 8 DB package all playing 10 to 15 yards off the LoS. -
It would have been far more entertaining if Buddy had gone all Glengary Glenross on them. "Put that coffee down" Coffee is for guys who make the playoffs...........
