Getting angry with the media
Mike in Syracuse replied to VA Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We can't get positive stories from the media IN BUFFALO. It shouldn't be surprising that the national hacks don't do their homework. -
See what happens when I show up in PPP once a year. I'm such a moran! Sorry guys, back to your bickering

I think the most positive portion of this report is the backdrop. Trent is getting a TON of reps with the majority of completions being quick slants and timing patterns. That's not the most important part though, the most important part is that he is completing passes against our secondary. There are many problems with the 2010 Bills, the secondary is not one of them. Completing passes against the Bills secondary is a VERY positive sign because if he puts the ball in the wrong spot at all our DB's and safeties are going to pick it off. Let's hope it carries into the regular season... Thanks for the report

Just a pro tip here, if you're going to call someone a "moron" you should spell it correctly. Otherwise you look really stupid.

I've Heard This Tune Before

Tell that to the Patriots because that's exactly the situation they're in. They have a clear advantage at QB but they've also got an aging Randy Moss, a #2 WR coming off a massive injury and an inconsistent RB. We beat the Jets, we beat the Dolphins, we should have beat the Patriots so yes, those games prove to me that this team has the personnel to compete. Regardless of how they got there, the Jets were a playoff team. Last years offensive line was a cluster!@#$ of historic proportions. Our head coach was in WAY over his head and our offensive system was rudimentary at best. So YES, I think there is enough talent on this team to win some games. Do I think the Bills are a playoff team? No, I'd say they're still 2 maybe 3 years away but they are heading in the right direction. Unless the IR bug bites again there is no way this years OL is worse. I'd prefer to look at the progress we're making. -

First game that the Jests give up 4 TD's through the air will be the week that Revis gets the money he wants. -

So last years wins over the Jets (playoff team) doesn't count because our OL isn't filled with pro bowlers? We were one idiotic fumble away from an even split in the division. We lost to the almighty Patriots by a combined 8 points. There is NO WAY this years OL can be worse than last years injury riddled shufflefest of craptastic nobodies. Why don't you let them play a few games before you draw a conclusion. -
Can we start another secret message board where only old timers are allowed to post? We could call it the Hyperbills Nursing Home!

Trent Edwards' confidence
Mike in Syracuse replied to The Helmet of's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thing that astounds me is that many fans seem to think an NFL offense should consist of a Madden playbook. There's a whole lot more to winning games than having your fastest WR run a go route on every play. If that were the secret every team in the league would do it on every play. Go look at the average completion distances and please stop talking playground football. -
Apparently Gailey is able to see qualities and abilities in Edwards that you, the average fan can't. I understand that it's much easier to be a lemming and follow the "Cpt. Checkdown" crowd but if Gailey has determined that Edwards is the starter then I'm fine with that. Sorry your guy didn't get picked. Implying that you're more knowledgeable than Gailey is absurd at best. If you're older than 12, using "fail" is pitiful.

Brandon Spikes
Mike in Syracuse replied to Wilson from Gamehendge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's great that New England is getting some solid LB's through the draft but their OL is rapidly becoming a disaster. A combination of age, injuries and hold-outs is going to get their QB put in the hospital. Good thing they're stockpiling on the defensive side of the ball because their offense might just suck. -
If T-Bone shows up my year will be complete! Now that the old guard has risen from the ashes like the proverbial phoenix, how do we get Ms. Lori back? And where the hell is Cindy?

In my opinion, the biggest difference between then and now is the consideration that was given to others opinions and a level of maturity in the debate. Sure we had our characters but other than a few crusaders it was largely an intelligent debate. Modern forum discussion (not just here but everywhere) has devolved into what I like to call Xbox live chat. People say unbelievable things to others online that they wouldn't dare say to them in person. Unfortunately the most vocal and most caustic seem to also be the most prolific. There are still a great many people here who understand football and can carry on a mature intelligent debate without resorting to the least common denominator of name calling and flaming. When TBD loses posters like Lori and TG we all lose. Whether you agree with them is largely irrelevant. They elevate the level of discussion and their presence is greatly missed. For those of you who have never had the privilege of meeting Lori I can assure you of this; she is one of the most knowledgeable football people I have ever met and her insight on the Bills is world class.
