  1. Those weren't F-15's. Those were T-38's which are old as dirt. I'm shocked they're still able to actually fly!
  2. The Bills seemed intent on trying to use Spiller's speed to get outside the tackles. There were two problems with this theory, first this is the NFL and everyone is fast. Second, Miami had a DB shadowing Spiller the entire game. SDS and I were talking about that at the tailgate after the game. Everywhere that Spiller went he was shadowed by a DB, the Dolphins came into the game with a specific plan to minimize Spiller and it worked. The reason Jackson had more success is because he's less willing to bounce it to the outside and can make yards up the middle. Our three strongest lineman are Wood, Hangartner and Levitre. Why we insist on running outside almost every time is beyond me.
  3. Awesome tailgate! Thanks to everyone that make this event possible.
  4. I couldn't disagree more. I focused intently on the WR's patterns during the second half yesterday. We were sitting high up enough so that you could see every pattern and the reality is that Edwards is VERY reluctant to throw a WR open. There were times that the would break up and get separation but the ball was not in the air and the defender's had plenty of time to react and recover. I'm not saying the Edwards can't ever be a competent QB but as of right now he doesn't have the courage to use his arm to uncover WR's. An improved line would help but you could build a brick wall in front of him and there are times when he wouldn't pull the trigger. I heard Trent Dilfer say it best. In high school you throw to open receivers. In college you throw to the WR's as they're breaking open. In the NFL you have to throw your WR's open.
  5. The reality of today's loss is that it was a 3 point loss at home to a team who is supposed to be MUCH better than us. The GOOD: 1. The Bills defense made some nice adjustments and did a decent job controlling the run and taking Brandon Marshall out of the game. 2. There were a couple of Aaron Maybin sightings. Yeah I know, he's has a LONG way to go but let me tell you, that kid is FAST...unbelievably fast. If he ever does hit a QB at full speed he's putting someone in the hospital. I'm willing to give the guy a couple more years and I think he may just become a football player. 3. Special teams were much improved from the preseason although Mormon's punts seemed to be mediocre. The BAD: 1. Troupe needs to turn into our number 1 NT and fast. I like Kyle Williams a lot but he was thrown off the line of scrimmage on multiple plays. 2. The Dolphins offensive line was getting WAY too much push. 3. Cornell Green is awful. He's not just bad, he's terribad. 4. The was very little room for the RB's and virtually no holes. The UGLY: During the second half a bunch of us from the TBD contingent watched the WR's downfield to see if they were open or not. Here were my observations and a something particular I noticed. 1. There is not a lot of separation between our WR's and the defenders. The one exception was when we went 4 wide, trips left with Trent in the shotgun. The fins looked to be in a soft nickle or zone and our WR's were finding some holes. That was also the drive where Roscoe scored. 2. There were times when WR's were coming open but it was also at the same time Trent was running for his life. I'm not apologizing for Edwards but the Dolphin's were pouring through the line of scrimmage. Cornell Green should probably be cut tomorrow because he is flat out AWFUL. 3. Trent does not throw WR's open. He looks as though he waits to SEE them open then he throws the ball. In the NFL you have to THROW the WR's open, this isn't high school. Finally, someone needs to send CJ a note and tell him he's not at Clemson anymore. Half the guys on the field are almost as fast as him and running side to side is not going to get it done. I love Spiller but I almost think Jackson needs to start and get the bulk of the carries next week.
  6. Well that's not what I wanted to see! This will be my first opener where the weather's not in the 90's!
  7. I'm curious how much of the last few drafts are the result of Levy vs. the recommendations of Modrak. Modrak is the director of scouting but he doesn't actually make the picks. A couple of the recent debacles are the result of Levy's incompetence as GM.
  8. A couple of C-17's out of Ft. Drum would be damn impressive!
  9. I think a formation of 3 MQ-9 Reapers would be cool as hell but you'd never hear them because they're pretty quiet. There aren't any on site right now so unfortunately that can't happen. The MQ-9's aren't currently fitted with transponders so the FAA won't let them fly out of a commercial airport. http://twistedsifter.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/predator-b-drone-mq-9-reaper.jpg
  10. Where is the nearest base to Buffalo with F15's? I doubt that they're coming from Cape Cod.
  11. I wonder what effect this will have in the locker room?
  12. Wait...wait...the Dolphins cut their starting center 2 days before their 1st game? Is Dick Jauron working in Miami?? WTF??
  13. I saw his interview yesterday and he just comes off as an arrogant douche bag. I also noticed he's starting to take on a bit of the Skeletor look. Elways was a great QB and Davis was an amazing RB. I'd like to know how many comeback wins they'd have if they didn't play a mile in the air. It's easy to win when your opponent can't breath!
  14. The day is coming when the Pats and Bellicheat either cut or trade Tom Brady. When they do, chowderhead nation is going to implode!
  15. Hopefully Edwards is smart enough to find a way to get Williams and Troup on the field at the same time. Adding in Stroud as a DE only makes it more enticing!
  16. What you describe is pretty much standard operating procedure by a lot of posters. The fact that these crusades are wrong about 80% of the time doesn't seem to limit their number!
  17. Interesting considering that when the Bills release Reed a lot of people used it as evidence that Nix didn't know what he was doing. Apparently he knows more than a lot of posters here!
  18. Today is cut day and we've all had players that either didn't make it past the cut or couldn't make it onto the field. Others made it on to the field but didn't last long... Who was the one player you really rooted for but just couldn't make it on the Bills roster? For me it's a toss up between Sean Bryson and Sam Aiken.
  19. I like my coaches to not be afraid to be honest with the fans and with their players. To me that demonstrates confidence which is an essential trait of strong leadership. Strong leaders, whether in the NFL or business don't ignore the issues, don't skip over them and for God sakes don't sugar coat it. I'm a big boy, I can see what's happening on the field. Gailey's true measure as a coach will come on game day. He acquitted himself well in Dallas but only time will tell. I don't expect the Bills to be great this year and I don't expect them to be in the playoffs. I do expect them to be improved though. Insisting that Gailey and Nix in one year to rebuild a roster that has been riddled with 5 years of bad decision is just unrealistic. I also find it much more enjoyable to be optimistic. This place seems to be filled with people who take great joy in bitching, complaining, crying whining, yelling and pissing & moaning about way to many things that they have way too little understanding of.
  20. His ability to change direction and accelerate in the opposite direction is truly Sanders like. I wonder what it feels like to be able to run like that?
