Merriman will quiet his doubters this year
Mike in Syracuse replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If any of you saw the 4th preseason game, Merriman wasn't playing all-pro, he was playing all-world. If he can play like that this year this team could have the best defense in the NFL. There's a whole lot of "ifs" in that statement and guys need to get and stay healthy but our DL on paper has the potential to be one of the best ever. If Merriman and Kyle Williams come back fully healed, you have FOUR defensive lineman that cannot be blocked one on one. Not only does that put a MASSIVE amount of pressure on the QB, it will force opposing OC's to completely alter their game plan. -
Ralph is........SAVVY?

You know there's a mutual respect there because Jim is continually referring to "Mr. Wilson". -
Always gonna Be negative People
Mike in Syracuse replied to EldaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's true but there also a number of guys who are collecting salaries they don't deserve. We've got a good portion of Williams salary tied up in guys that are mediocre football players. Evans and Parrish are gone so they're no longer an issue. I wouldn't be shocked to see Dwan Edwards, Spencer Johnson, Brad Smith or Chris Kelsay cut. -
Here's a few standout quotes: That's a great statement no matter how you look at it. He could have moved this team and made a LOT more money but he's remained loyal to western NY. Ralph is cheap! This says to me that he's going to let Buddy and Chan build a champion. I'm good with that.

Facing the offense, he will be on the left side. It's typically the side you put your bull rusher at. Just think Reggie White. RDE is more typically a speed rusher like Bruce used to be.

Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
Mike in Syracuse replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't care how you look at it, this DL is freaking formidable. Other than Kelsay, there isn't a single guy that doesn't demand a double team on almost every play. You can't play seven OL so good luck. We're starting to build some depth with players like Heard and hopefully Troupe, Edwards and Johnson. -
Sal is on WGR tonight. Great show
Mike in Syracuse replied to Hammered a Lot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sal is actually turning into one of the best hosts and I'd have to think that the guys in charge realize it. He brings a ton more to the table than Schoop (sp?) and Brad Riter has been solid as well. I'd like to see them replace the afternoon show with a Coach Sal/Brad Riter show and move the other nitwits to the morning. -

Priceless, absolutely priceless. Thanks for making me push Dr. Pepper through my nose! -
Free agent Mario Williams is still in Buffalo this morning and is currently at One Bills Drive. Williams is meeting with GM Buddy Nix in his office. Earlier this morning he had his physical, which is standard procedure on free agent visits. We’ll keep you posted on Buffalobills.com. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2012/03/14/mario-update/

Yeah, let's not talk about the fact that they're WAY overpaying. -
What is plan B at Wide Receiver?

I'm not sure I could take another "Royal" on this team. I'm still having Robert PTSD -
What is plan B at Wide Receiver?
Mike in Syracuse replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Everyone is freaking out and it's really unwarranted. A #2 WR isn't our biggest need, the ability to generate a pass rush is. There are still a LOT of options out there for us at WR: 1. Remaining unsigned FA's 2. Draft 3. Cuts 4. Easley Take a deep breath. -
Unfortunately that's not what he said. He said he and the team "believed" that could win. BIG difference. Shoddy journalism.

Internet meme. It's supposed to be that way -
We are on the precipice of going from an average to legitimate playoff team. Yes, I know we're still a world away but when you've got former players making comments like "Oh my goodness" about the potential line you're now RELEVANT! MY GOD. What an amazing day to be a Bills fan.

Don't overlook the importance of Wannastache on that flight. He brings an assload of credibility to the position and dude's got rings. -

Um, they're switching to a 4-3, Kelsay (despite his less than knowledgeable detractors) is a solid DE. If you put him next to Marcel, Mario and Kyle he instantly becomes a GREAT DE. -

WHERE THE HELL AM I?
Mike in Syracuse replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He didn't say that, he said that he and the players believe they can win the division. There's a huge difference between believing you can do it and predicting you will do it. Frankly, if they have players that don't believe they can win they should probably go get some different players. -
WHERE THE HELL AM I?
Mike in Syracuse replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a very good point and look at the defense that followed. God damn, Kelsay, Dareus, Williams and Williams is a !@#$ing frightening front 4. Kelsay may have sucked as an LB but he's a solid DE and next to those three he will be Hansen 2.0 -

You guys are old timers, have you ever seen a FA like this before with the Bills. I realize we haven't signed anyone but I've never ever seen Bills front office people fan the flames the way they are this year. -
Did I go to sleep last night and wake up in bizzaro land? Gailey's predicting a division win Brandon's saying they're opening the vault Nix going all in Williams on his way to Buffalo Meachem on his way God damn guys, stoking the fire of BIlls fans is one thing. Throwing freaking gasoline on it is another entirely. I want Williams to sign and pull a WWE and say "I'm looking at you Brady, I'm coming for you"

We're about to find out how good of a coach Boeheim really is. The bigger question I have is; did they know about this before they were seeded #1? -
Mario Williams: Officially a Buffalo Bill
Mike in Syracuse replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't want to get ahead of ourselves here but adding Williams makes this defense potentially frightening. There's a lot of questions, Kyle's foot, McGee's knee, Merriman's body etc. But if, and that's a HUGE if Merriman could come back to form and Kyle returns at full strength you could be looking at a front line of Kelsay/Dareus/Williams/Williams with an LB group of Merriman/Sheppard/Barnett. That creates a MASSIVE problem for your OL because you'd have to double team 3 of the 4 guys. If you apply this to say a matchup against NE that means that Gronk isn't out in every pattern because he'd have to stay in just to keep Brady alive. If, and again that's a HUGE if, this defense were to play out the Bills would be sitting sweet on defense. Draft a WR and CB and we could be down right nasty.
