John, Last night I broke down all of the snaps Fitz took because the knuckleheads on the BB.com site apparently can't understand what they're looking at. One thing I noticed during those snaps was that the pocket looked like it was collapsing on several occaisons but I think a lot of times it was actually the view. There were several passes where I thought "How did Fitz get that ball off" because it appeared that the DT's were right on top of him. When they went to the view from behind him their was actually an arms length or more between him and the nearest defender. It may not have been Tom Brady room but it was enough to complete a pass. I do wonder why our OL seems to surrender so much ground on pass protections. I realize they aren't trying to stonewall the DL but in some cases it looks like they're conceeding 5 yards across the line. As a former OL, can you help me understand that.

Underage Drinking Sting at the Ralph
Mike in Syracuse replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I personally don't care if people drink before they're 21. What I do care about is when people of any age get so stupid drunk that they become an annoyance to others. If your so purpose of going to a Bills game is to get so drunk you can't stand then you ought to take a look at your life. Go to the game, have some drinks and have a good time. Just don't be a douche bag. -
I just re-watched all of Fitz's snaps for the second time. Let me point out some notes I jotted down that I think are being ignored:: 1. We threw almost exclusively out of no back sets. I think there were a half dozen plays where we actually had a back lined up behind the QB. 2. We had 6 drops of balls that should have been caught. 3. A TD was called back on a quesitonable call 4. A missed defensive holding call negated a first down 5. The Redskins were blitzing on EVERY play 6. We ran no motion 7. We ran no play action 7. There was absolutely no attempt to disguise what we were doing. It was purely a set of "beat your man scenarios". I also watched the 1st quarter of the Patriots/Saints and Jets/Bengal. We didn't look any worse than any of those offenses, in fact, our OT's looked a hell of a lot better. So step off the ledge, relax a bit and lets see what happens next Friday.

Watching the Jets/Bengals game

Pearl, it's on NFL Network on Verizon FIOS. I just purchased the NFL Preseason package so I waiting for the Bills game to come off of the blackout. -
Mauluaga, Dunlap and a starting OG. We may have played poorly last night but it was a total victory for us in the injury department. Oh, and the Jets first team offense looks terrible. I'm also trying to figure out if the Bengals will be triple or quadruple blocking Maybin. You know, since he's all-world now.

And yes, it was nothing more than a glorified scrimmage! - We have defenders that can get into the backfield FAST. On the first 3 series there were defenders in the backfield almost instantaneously. This is a HUGE risk/reward scenario. When we play teams with a non-mobile QB they're going to be terrifying. One thing is for certain, Bills defenders are going to blow up some plays this year. - Brooks can play. I wouldn't be shocked if he's a starting DB before mid season. - TJ Graham is fast, really freaking fast. - The Bills offense may have looked crappy last night but lets not forget they lined up on multiple plays with an empty backfield. That pretty much tells the defense what's coming. - Stupid penalties and atrocious calls negated one, perhaps two scores. - Jasper was MAULING people. - Merriman looked pretty damn good - Anderson was having a blast out there and it going to be a great upgrade.

GDT: Washington Redskins @ Buffalo Bills 8/9/12 7:00PM
Mike in Syracuse replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why does everyone forget that PRE season football is basically a glorified scrimmage? They interviewed Fitz on the sidelines and he said that was the plan all along. The PRE season is about working out the kinks and getting a good look at the 2nd and 3rd level guys. Let me remind you: 1. We had a TD called back on a penalty 2. We had a 2 no calls, 1 PI and 1 illegal contact. Anyone want to talk about the fact that Merriman is looking pretty good or the fact that TG Graham is insanely fast? -

NFL Preseason Live - Watch Games Online
Mike in Syracuse posted a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I keep seeing this over at the BuffaloBills.com site and I'm interested but not fully convinced it's worth it. It appears that all of the blacked out games will be available after 24 hours which isn't much different than watching the rebroadcast on NFL Network. Anyone buying in? Edit from SDS: If you go throught he link on the home page: http://www.twobillsdrive.com/ the NFL will throw a couple $'s in the tip jar. Thanks! -
Dareus is all giggles about the D
Mike in Syracuse replied to GoBills!'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can someone please explain to me how our opponents are going to block Mario, Marcel, Kyle & Mark with five guys? Seriously, they're going to need a minimum of seven blockers to contain these animals. That's gonna alter some game plans. I sincerely hope that fat blowhard Rex Ryan sends his OL up against the Bills man to man. Sanchez won't survive the 1st quarter. -

The Jets OL is a freaking mess. Not exactly the scenario you want opening against the Bills. Sanchez might not survive the game. -

I think a rotation of Williams/Merriman & Anderson/Kelsay makes a lot of sense. I'm a bit surprised that Tank Carder is still in 3rd. That said, we've yet to play a preseason game. -
CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

I commented on this earlier but it's even more evident that Fitzpatrick is throwing the ball a lot better. I'm not seeing the wobbly ducks that were so prevalent in the past and that's going to make a big difference in the winds at RWS. I think we all might be in for a shock, I'm betting Fitzmagic has a HUGE year.

Mario Williams isn't just a pass rushing DE. He's arguably one of the best all around DE's in the game and the guy was asked to play out of position @ LB in Houston. At almost 300lbs he's not going to be easy to move off the line and should be able to contain the left. On the other side, you have an apparent rotation of Kelsay, Anderson & Merriman. Kelsay's strength is the run and Merriman played great (with a bad leg and shoulder) at DE for the 1st four games last year. Bring in Anderson on obvious passing downs and you've got a rock solid set of DE's. On the interior you've got Dareus and Kyle Williams, one pro bowler and one soon to be pro bowler. Our DL is as good as any in the game so lets look at MLB. Sheppard and our rookie from FSU are bangers, they'll have no problem getting to a RB because the OL won't have the luxury of getting to the second level. So much of our LB play the last few years has been hampered by free ranging OL. That problem is gone. We don't have a banger at safety but I'll think we'll be fine. Against the run. -
Ahh, the sweet smell of vindication...
Mike in Syracuse replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't ever recall Kelsay playing RDE but they refer it as his "natural" position??? Kelsay is more of a power rusher and not a speed rusher so why is RDE his natural position? Kelsay doesn't need to be amazing this year, he just needs to be solid. He'll contribute to a rotation that is going to cause massive problems for the teams they play. Keep in mind, the LT's going up against Kelsay/Anderson/Merriman won't have the luxury of rotating out. I'm interested in who's going to rotate opposite Mario? I guess I assumed it was going to be Kelsay rotating with him. -
Fitz comes out throwing as Bills open camp
Mike in Syracuse replied to bowery4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What happened in any of the prior years doesn't matter. All that matters is what's in front of you. You can't change the past. If Fitz plays solid this year and doesn't lose half of his offense to injury there's no reason the Bills won't make a run at the playoffs. Can we please just calm down with the statistical over analysis. -

Manning doesn't struggle with accuracy or throw in the wind at RWS 7 times a year either.
