I've supported Gailey because I thought he needed more time. I think he's probably a fantastic OC but he appears to be in over his head as a head coach. Some of his quotes from this morning were bordering on delusional. Howard asked him about the fact that the defense has given up over 100 points in 2 division games and he refers to it as "stat twisting"! WTF Chan, there's no twisting, your defense has sucks donkey balls and has been grossly outschemed and outplayed in 2 division games. Stache had no answer for the Jets and when the Patriots adjusted the Bills were lost. That's not just on the players, that's squarely on Wanny. Is there ANYONE that believes that if Wade Phillips were the DC here that we'd have given up 45 points in the second half? Wade may John freaking Holochek look like Ray Lewis for 2 seasons. This team has underperformed consistently for 2 years...that's on you Chan and you need to get this **** turned around and fast.

Yeah I know Ralph is old, Ralph is cheap etc etc etc. One thing I know for sure is that Ralph Wilson is a businessman. If Ralph is still of sound mind, I'm guessing he made a phone call that went something like this: "I spent $120 MILLION DOLLARS on a defense that looks worse than last years. Could someone please tell me why I did and got less ROI?" Someone is going to have to answer that question.

If you send a safety or CB blitz on every play you take one of them out of the equation.

The Patriots OL isn't great so the Raven's throw blitzes at Brady the entire evening and FORCE Gronkowski to stay in and block. That takes Brady's second (or maybe first) favorite weapon out of the equation. Sending additional blitzer's is a proven way to alter the Patriots gameplan. So what do we do, we alter our entire defensive strategy in some feeble attempt to cover Gronk. We take our two best run stuffing LB's off the field and instead we spend our afternoon watching Wilson & Scott chase Gronk all over the field. Oh, and as an added bonus, we let previously unknown RB's gash us for 12 yards per carry. I would have put a safety on Gronk as a spy and have him blitz from whatever side Gronk was lined up on. Force Gronk to block or just hammer him to throw off his timing. It may not have worked every time but it couldn't have been worse.

FWIW, the switch looked "on" to me for two games. If their coaching staff is going to put them into a no win scheme then I'm not surprised they got whacked.

I don't think so, here's why: Smith is no Brady. We can play base with Shep and Moats back in the game and we'll be MUCH better against the run. Loss of Glenn and Urbik is going to hurt.

Wanny said back in camp that the longer the guys are in his system the more comfortable they become. They react instead of thinking and as they get comfortable they get faster. Shep is getting faster!
