Chris Brown - Bills "Reporter"
Mike in Syracuse replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Brown can't "break" stories because the Bills won't allow transactions to be reported until they are finalized and approved by the league. Now as for all the other Buffalo journalists, I have no idea? -
If my son were dying in a hospital bed I'm pretty sure I'm not showing up for work. Doesn't matter what I do or how many people want me to be there. Some things in life are just more important.

For those of you missing Levitre
Mike in Syracuse replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Going into the Cleveland game the Bills owned the NUMBER TWO ranked rushing attack in the entire NFL. Someone please explain to me why we're so decimated by not grossly overpaying a mediocre guard? Levitre was not and is not worth $8M per year, not be any stretch of the imagination nor by any rational breakdown of his onfield performance. He was a good pass blocker but a barely average run blocker. He also happens be someone who got turned into a perennial all pro in the mind of some Bills fans. The Bills front office is absolutely responsible for not bringing in an adequate replacement for him. They should have been able to do that for half of what Levitre got paid. -
It's amazing to me that none of this stuff is ever broken by local guys.

Is Byrd Replaceable?
Mike in Syracuse replied to WhitewalkerInPhilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Searcy is not a viable replacement for Byrd but I do believe that Byrd's value to the current Bills defensive system is questionable. Byrd became an interception machine in a cover two defense. That type of defense is perfect for a ball hawking safety like Byrd who can just sit back, play center field and close on the ball. Pettine's system is VERY different. He'll be asked to be up on the line of scrimmage and will play a very different role. He may still be an amazing player in Pettine's system but I think that's part of the reason that the Bills weren't overly eager to sign him to a long term deal. The franchise tag should have given them a one year tryout. But........... -
Sorry, this was supposed to be a cut a paste of my response on the BB.com site. I left off the last two sentences: Now everyone that felt the need to jump to Kiko's defense can put the knives away. I realize the kid's in his 3rd game and has a massive ceiling. Point it, it's his youth and exuberance that's making him miss, not his ability. Very fixable! Rogers on the other hand.................

Aaron Williams mic'd up against Jets
Mike in Syracuse replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The press coverage scheme that Pettine uses is much more suited to Aaron Williams playstyle than the Cover 2 used by previous DC's. It's obvious that WIlliams is a big, strong kid who could easily fill in at CB in Pettine's system. If Byrd's healthy this week I'd put him and Leonhard in a safety and play Williams at corner if McLovin's not ready. -
After his implosion last week I couldn't help but notice Summers didn't see the field this week! Connors would be a HUGE upgrade!

Tell me more about drafting CBs...

Who was the Bills coach that said "You can NEVER have too many CB's"? -
**Official Buffalo Bills @ NY Jets GDT**
Mike in Syracuse replied to sven233's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please please please, let this be a statement game. I want the Bills to announce to the rest of the NFL that they are legit! -
How do we stack up against the Jets?
Mike in Syracuse replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it's fair to say that the Jets defense isn't anywhere near as good as the last two we've faced. Meanwhile our defense is getting better each week and Mario might just become a one man terror for Geno Smith. This should be a great test for our young team. -
Panthers fan analysis here
Mike in Syracuse replied to Happy Panther's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have difficulty understanding how a front 7 that starts Dwan Edwards and an unproven rookie could be close to best in the league? I think the bigger matchup on Sunday is going to be Pettine's defense against a very banged up Carolina OL. Unless I'm mistaken they just lost another starter to a season ending knee injury. I'd expect the Bills to spread it out against a very aggressive Carolina defense but I agree, I'd expect it to be a very close game. -
My understanding is that's a handicapped seating area not a "standing" area.

Don't blame the kid, blame the parents. -
As impressive as the Phlly offense in the 1st half I don't believe it's sustainable for two reasons: 1. NFL defensive coordinator are too good to not figure out a plan to counter it, or at least slow it down. 2. Vick and Jackson won't survive the season.

Marrone - this loss is on you both
Mike in Syracuse replied to BreezeMafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're right. It's all on Marrone. He should've converted that 3rd down on that last series, he should've run the play clock and given the ball to Brady with 3 minutes left. That certainly would've been the difference in this game. Or maybe he could've committed less penalties, I mean seriously, who does he thing he is putting his hands in someones face or jumping offsides on defense. Oh, and what about the drops, what the hell is up with the drops. Why can't Marrone catch? And his fumbles! Don't even get me started talking about Marrone's fumbles!!! His decision to not "slow down" the game was absolutely irrelevant. Implying that it was the reason the Bills lost the game is just ignorant. It shows a complete lack of understanding of football. -
Let's turn to Carolina... a few thoughts
Mike in Syracuse replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it makes you feel better Dwan Edwards is starting for Carolina.
