  1. Unfortunately you're not the only one who likely believes this and it is not to insult you but you don't understand or appreciate the differences in defensige schemes and FS&SS

In Pettines D it is easy to miss how Byrd and AWilliams differed but watch some tapes again and you'll see how muchbetter pass coverage was with Byrd. Not to take away from AWilliams but he doesn't have the instinct nor ball skills of Byrd.

To put AWilliams @ FS creates a larger hole at SS, a position many regard as more important, anyway.

I disagree to some extent. Go back and look at who was starting at CB when Byrd was sitting on the bench nursing his sore feet. McKelvin and Gilmore coming back had far more to do with the performance of the secondary. The Bills had for play A Williams at corner because there was basically no one left on the roster. A maple tree would have been an improvement over Leonard.

I'm not saying Byrd isn't a great safety but he's not worth $10M per year.

  2. It's called a sign and trade, people.

Need a partner to trade people, you can't just force another team to give us something for a guy they might get outright.

If you don't think Parker was working the rooms at the combine you're delusional. He's got a damn good idea what he can get outside of Buffalo, hell he might even already have a couple of offers on the table.

  3. If it's a 5 year deal and the last two years are 4$ m salary and they gave him a huge signing bonus, because that is what he wants, it's an 8m a year contract they would think is an insult.

Maybe so but $10M for a safety in any year is idiocy. He's a safety! Not a CB, not a WR, not a LT. He's a safety, one of the least important positions on a team.

  4. Apparently $10M per year isn't enough for Byrd. If the Bills give him that much money they're idiots.

The #Bills offered a multi-year contract that would have paid Byrd about $30-Mill over the first 3 seasons.

Like I reported a week plus ago, Byrd is offered 10 mil a year, way past my north of 9. Glad my source came through. Byrd is killing us.

  5. If that were true he wouldn't be about to get a monster contract. You're just wrong.

    '

Really? I'm wrong? Then you tell me who is lining up to trade for him.

There's a reason the Safety position has the second lowest tag number just about punters and kickers. Byrds a great safety, spending $10M or more per year on a safety is just stupid and that's why the vast majority of other teams in the NFL don't do it.

  6. True . But a poor trade is better than No trade isnt it ?

In order to trade him you have to tag him. Then you have to find a trading partner who is willing to give you something tangible for a player who they can't sign to a long term deal. You have to find a trading partner who is willing to take a guy they only have for one year. No team is willing to do that for a safety with a chronic foot condition.
  7. If they can't get a trade, just tag him, something could happen by July 15 deadline. If he signs his tag and reports to training camp ready to play, just keep him at least another season for $8.3m.

If they tag him I'd bet you a months salary his plantar fascitis comes back mysteriously.

  8. I think your definition of a dynasty is very limited. Ever team starts out with a goal to get to the SB. A dynasty by my definition is dominating your conference over an extended period. The Bills clearly did that! Where the 91 Redskins a dynasty, or the 90 giants for that matter?. The Dynasty of the NFC during that era was Dallas.

There's a lot of teams out there that have gotten to the SB and some have won it. They weren't "dynasties".

When you have four chances to win your a championship and you fail all four times, twice in spectacularly comical fashion, then you're a very good runner up.

The 90's Bills were an amazing team but they weren't a "dynasty".

It's very unlikely that anyone one team will ever go to four consecutive SB's again. The salary cap and free agency will make sure of that. The C

  9. Yes, its a quarterback driven league unless you have a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees,Ben Roethlisberger or Aaron Rodgers you better keep drafting quarterbacks until you find guys like that, because if you don't you're going to be on the bottom of the s*** heap for 14 years just like the Bills are.

I'll just point out that the Jets made it to the AFC championship game with Sanchez and the Ravens won a super bowl with Trent Dilfer. Yes those are anomolies but it isn't just about the QB.

  10. Are there crossman defenders?

I don't know if they are necessarily Crossman defenders but I think a lot of folks, myself included, don't think it's always just the coach. Buffalo's special teams were fine at the beginning of the year. Yes they dropped off and gave up some key plays but is that necessarily the coaches fault? A coaches job is to put players in a position to succeed then it's up to them to make the plays.

Bruce Dehaven was widely regarded as a great special teams coach until a certain game against the Titans. What that his fault, probably not but the "fire the coach" mantra gets repeated all to easily.

What wins championships is great players and stability.
