In the past 5 years, have we re-signed...

Your right signing and trading for high profile players such as drew bledsoe, takeo spikes, london fletcher, and T.O is how you win. -

Billls open to trading Evans
Estelle Getty replied to Coach Klein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since so many people are freaking out about trading are "star" wider receiver. 37 catches with 578 rec yards and 4 tds with a legitamate starting QB last year. He has only had 2 years out of 7 with over 1,000 yards receiving and over 50 catches just three times. He has never caught 10 td passes in a season. He is still one of the highest paid receivers in the league. How good of a leader can you be to all of the young guys when you have only had 1 winning season in your career? What can he possibly tell them? "Just go Deep". Im not a Lee Evans hater but the guy is one dimensional and 30 years old. The lame excuse of "he never had any one who could throw him the ball" or "he never had a good #2 receiver" is played out. "Star" wide receivers can find ways to be productive even if they have Estelle Getty throwing them the ball. While were getting rid of players who don't know what it is like to win lets cut Kelsay. -
I have watched him for about the last 8 years. He is not very good. Doubtful that in his 9th year he really "turns the corner". He would be a solid backup DE in the 4-3.

Do we really need Lee Evans?

That is my prediction. "On pace" for 800 yards is not exactly setting the world on fire. I think the only way he stays is if evans does get traded. -

I wouldn't mind trading evans for the simple fact he doesn't know what it is like to win. Hear me out on this. I compare this situation to aaron schobel last year. Evans is a decent talent all be it one dimensional, however we are stacked with good young wide receivers. We don't need all of are young players surrounded by guys such as kelsay and evans who don't know what it is like to be on a winning team. Thats my case and Im sticking to it. On the topic of WR I think a suprise cut will be Roscoe Parrish. The emergence of nelson and roosevelt and the signing of brad smith to play a slash role along with an aging (29 not young for a speedster) parrish coming off of a major surgery is my rationale behind this. He is also fairly expensive for the role he plays in the offense. -

Aaron Maybin only weighs 228lbs
Estelle Getty replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is almost funny that teams usually try to trade a player after a few good preseason games or a decent season. We try to trade Maybin after having an assist on a tackle in practice. -
Donte say's his heart is in Buffalo

For custodial purposes? Your right the bathrooms at the stadium could be cleaner. +1 -
hope not....if I see him get burned by a slow white tight end one more time......

Aaron Maybin only weighs 228lbs
Estelle Getty replied to Chris in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not hard to see what Maybin did. He put on about 25 pounds of muscle for the NFL combine which Im sure was very hard for him to do. I am also sure his best friend Lavar Arrington told him it was his golden ticket into the NFL and he wouldn't have to do anything after this. So he boosted his stock at the combine and after getting drafted he stopped working out and went back to his natural physique because he does not have the work ethic or desire to maintain a decent OLB playing weight. Mystery Solved -
All kidding aside....If the Bills front office stopped using all of their energy trying to figure out how not to have to spend money in the opposite way, such as the jets and colts, and use their time on how to figure out how to get away with spending the most amount.....our team might be better.
-
Ahh that makes more sense that they have all season.
-
Thought they were about 35 million under a 107 million (or there about) cap. We all thought they would be forced to spend a good amount in FA but eh....guess not. Any answers? -As much as I like Nix it's hard to justify his obsession with signing 2nd and 3rd teir bargain bin free agents. This is due to the fact the Bills are in the NFL. What are they trying to prove by doing this? There are only 32 NFL teams in the world, this is not unicef. You should always try to get the best available.
-
In not resigning Poz he showed that he wants as little competition as possible. I question if his hip is fully recovered from slipping on his tapioca pudding during casino night at the "home". Will he possibly make the switch to OLB? He can probably beat out Davis or Kelsay if he gets his WW1 flashbacks during training camp practices. My only doubt is that his 91 toyota tercel can consistently get him to the stadium on time.

no he sucks.....wait to see what cher's demands are, maybe we can sign her.

ain't that the thruth

I respectfully disagree. Although it is unclear on how much of his contract is guaranteed you simply do not give out 4 year 24 million dollar extensions for a situational pass rusher. Oh wait we did do that with Aaron Maybin....although he is more of a situational special teams player. Well atleast Buddy Nix wasn't responsible for that. I must say though Dwan Edwards didn't look to hot before he got hurt last year but that contract was more of whaleys fault. Also that Cornell Green signing by him was awful since we are talking about bad contracts.
-
Now let's not forget we gave him a 4 year 24 million dollar extension last september. And you don't give someone roughly 6 million a year to be a second string linebacker. So we have to pencil him in as a starter at OLB. Trust me I do not like this notion either but it is a fact. In my opinion we should have let his contract run its course and been done with him. He was a "nice" player for us on a losing team. I compare his value to that of Josh Reed. Someone who was not a Donte Whitner type bust(although they both have the same Coy Wire type of coverage skills)....But he is no Bruce Smith or Phil Hansen for that matter. I fear he will hold back solid young players such as Moats. Just my honest take on the matter.

and knocked him over
