  1. to the OP: First, what the hell does your SIG mean? "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength" I hope its some sort of joke, or sarcasm that doesnt translate well to the written word. Second, and to all of you, why is everybody SLOBBIN on the Bengals? Yes, they have some decent, and maybe previously overrated players, but in the NFL you still gotta have heart. And know how to win. And I've seen all 3 Hard Knocks episodes. I saw more heart from the Dolphags last year. (not that there's . . . .) I loved Dalton pre-draft, and so far he is just a Game Manager ++. And I love the James Harrison signing. He's a man's man, but he's the only one on the team, with Geno Atkins as backup, and that's all they have. So guys, why slob them so hard? Here's my top 6 AFC teams, in order: Denver (especially after Miller gets back) NE (only, only because of that metrosexual QB) Houston (but they will never win a playoff game with Schaub) Ball-mer (and if you havent, you really should watch "The Wire") Buffalo Indy --- Honorable mention: Cincy, . . . and that's about it.
  2. Is it just me, or just that I currently live in California, or is ". . . and parking for Fifteen Thousand Cars" just not nearly enough for a stadium that big? Even if every car is filled with 4 people, its still not enuf.
  3. According to the closed-captioning at the gym on ESPN, Adam Schefter I believe: --Byrd reported during week 3 of preseason to save money. If he had reported after the 4th preseason game (or at any other time), he would have been subject to the Bills placing him on the 2 week roster exemption while he got up to speed. If Byrd missed 2 weeks of regular season, he would have lost 2 game checks. At roughly $6.95M, that's about $890K. So now he forces the Bills to exempt him for the final 2 weeks of preseason, where he would not have been paid anyway. In short, since he was gonna report anyway, its best for his $$$ to do it now, to be sure he gets all of his $6.95M
  4. (fixed) Not sure 2.25 is enough. Its gotta last him at least 50 years. And its 2.25 BEFORE tax. He's gotta walk to be able to work. Because by "retire" I assume you mean "fund his retirement nest-egg for 30 years from now, when he actually retires from working." And that's not counting buying a house for his mama, putting his kids through college, fending off his cousin who wants to open a pizza shop, his sister who "needs" her nails done every week and a touch-up for her weave every month, etc.
  5. Truedat. But, if somebody said "This injury is going to happen this weekend to an NFL team. I'll let you choose the team," which team would you choose? I'd choose Miami. Instantly. Most fans younger than 35 would probably choose New England. And nobody cares about the Jest currently, because they are pretty much "on the clock," locked in a pitched battle with Jacksonville in the "Clown for Clowney" race.
  6. I think I agree with all of this. Its a good thing I (sometimes try to ) read all posts before I post something myself, so i dont repeat or plagarize. I think the bubble decision will be Troupe vs. Searcy. Carry on, sir.
  7. Meaningless. i read last year, predraft, that Belichick brings in every qb every year. To pick their brains and scout them, and make notes, in case he ever has to play against them. This, folks, is preparation.
  8. I live in Cali now. I remember about 3 years ago something I heard on sports radio and couldnt believe. Until I thought about it. The 3 oldest stadia in the NFL are all in California. I guess because there's no weather, they dont deteriorate nearly as quickly. And fans in SD are crying so much about a new stadium. And fans in SF finally broke down. And if you count the Colliseum when the Rams / Raiders were here, I think that would be the top 4 oldest.
  9. Are you out cho fuk&in mind? Did you watch either of the two preseason games? Maybe the Rams and their fans think so, but I doubt it. I cant imagine anyone else thinking so. Dude ??!!
  10. That's just sick. How do you live with yourself?
  11. This might be the genius work-around. If you dont track live, then you arent hoping that so-and-so gets 50 more yards against the Bills. Or against anyone else. You just wake up monday morning and find out whether you won. But still. Its just . . . dirty. And still, part of my OP is that I cannot have a Dolphin no matter what. Anyone here old enuf to HATE the dolphins down to your DNA? (i'm only 45)
  12. (Idea from a topic earlier this week on Miami's Girly Uniforms) (Also, if you dont HATE the dolphins, you must be younger than about 35) -So the issues are: (1) Do you keep, and start, division rivals on your Fantasy team, knowing you will have to root for them to do well? (2) What if ANY of your players is playing against the Bills that week? Do you still start 'em? I never ever ever ever have a dolphins player on my fantasy team. I'm in a 12 man league, with basically the same guys for 10+ years. There is one dolphin fan. And there is another life-long Bills fan besides me. I cannot and will not be caught dead with a dolphin on my team. Exception: I might draft a Dolphin in order to trade him to the Dolphin fan. The dolphin fan knows this, and will draft Bills players in order to create a bidding war between me and the other Bills fan. But this all works out BEFORE the season starts. I will never have a Dolphin on my roster (unless he's at the bottom of my bench as trade bait). It would make me physically ill to have to actually root for any dolphin to do anything to give me points. ------------------------------ Funny aside, maybe very telling about the difference between Dolphins fans and Bills fans. The Dolphins guy in our league has no problem whatsoever with starting Bills players. I'd rather be dead.
  13. I'm sorry to ruin your thread, but . . . why should I care? ESPN should sue all these movies and TV shows that make fun of them.
  14. Wait. What? What Kolb was promised when he signed was . . . money. Kolb is a career backup. More importantly, Kolb KNOWS he is a career backup. He knows that if he wants to keep earning a million or two per year, he has to act like he wants to start, act like he CAN start if needed, act like he doesnt wanna sit on the bench, etc. But he knows what he is doing. I picture him on the phone with his financial planner immediately after every practice. He doesnt have any fire or passion. He doesnt stir the troops. He just wants to make as many millions as he can while he's young. In the world of "lead, follow, or get the F outta the way" he has chosen to follow. To be a good second. Like Spock to Kirk. He is soberly realistic that he is not a starting QB and never will be, but a backup QB in the NFL is a valuable commodity and can make good money.
  15. FYP. Agree wholeheartedly. I was just telling this to a fellow Bills fan the other day. Jets are in a death spiral and nobody on the roster seems to care. Seriously, the Jets could get a top three pick. And LOL if they take a QB. Fish are overrated, the darlings of the media (after the Cowboys and Jets), and are just . . . unmanly. I'll take a split with the Pats because, if nothing else, the players and coaches approach each game as grown-ups who have a job to do.
  16. What ??!!! A Black Man cant be both Strong AND Free in this country??
  17. Right. I emphasized that "after one preseason game" I "almost" like Tuel more. The sample size is stupidly small and I recognize that. I was just trying to give Tuel an "attaboy." He is not going to win the starting job even if he outplays EJ. I'm just saying that, whether garbage time or not, Tuel looks to be playing more like a field general.
  18. Its not slow motion. Its "screwed and chopped." Texas rap dude. Get wit the times. Herm is planning his next career. http://en.wikipedia....ped_and_screwed As example, see: Paul Wall video (pronounced "Pow Wow"). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXZjBdv43Mo&list=ALBTKoXRg38BD7vxiHi-hdBa90RMjwXjgV
  19. I saw what you did there. Well played. Per my Sig, I wanted EJ in the worst possible fugging way. And when Goodell said "with the 16th pick, the buffalo bills select E . . . ." I was apoplectic with joy. But after one preseason game, I almost like Tuel more. 2 reasons: (1) Tuel goes through all his progressions. You can see his head/helmet moving around before he decides to make his throw. Accurately (2) Tuel is looking to go downfield first. We have excellent downfield weapons now. If EJ is going to checkdown for the rest of his career with that huge cannon on his shoulder, then maybe he needs to step out of the way. Case in point: At about the 6:41 mark of the 4th quarter, Tuel rolls out right on a designed roll-out. The TE in the flat is waving that he's open. Tuel is like "yeah, I see you, but hold on a second." You can see Tuel's head move back to the middle of the field, scanning for something downfield. Finally he "settles" for the dumpoff to the TE (who dropped it, but that's not the point). People here on TBD have said that Tuel could be the next Frank Reich. To me, Tuel is Kirk Cousins. A legit NFL starter who happens to be stuck behind a legit NFL starter who was drafted higher (and yes, I know Tuel wasnt drafted at all, but you get my point).
  20. Yeah, cuz like on the streets yo. Thug life. This is following a mans jock? In the old school they read newspapers. This day and age people use the internets. The point is not about "thug, yo" or whatever you think you mean. The point is closer to "everything I ever needed to know, I learned in Kindergarten." Many of us werent raised by a traditional family. Many of us were raised by our friends, uncles, cousins, grandfathers, and all of the above in the families of friends in the neighborhood. (the old saw that it takes an entire village to raise a child). Just sitting around their houses, or on porches, or in barber shops, etc. It just seems . . . wrong and . . . unmanly to care what Stevie Johnson had for breakfast.
  21. It seems to me that Twitter is just internet Jockage. Why would a grown man "follow" any other grown man? (Unless his name is E.F. Hutton or Warren Buffet). And to paraphrase the immortal Ice Cube: "but I was taught, back on my block, that you dont ride on nobody's jock." (. . . "for anything he do, Fu@k him AND his crew, unless, you was gettin paid too.") --- AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted Ice Cube - May 16, 1990 © 2003 Priority Records
  22. I'll tell you what. While Russell Wilson is a bona fide up-and-coming star in this league, I'd rather have EJ and the extra 2nd we got this year (Alonzo). I think EJ is an up-and-coming above-average qb, with insane weapons at his disposal. But I'll say this: Even though in my Signature I wanted EJ at 8 (and I love that we got him), if he doesnt learn to go down the field, he might righteously lose his job to Tuel. Tuel ALWAYS looks down field first, then he will dump if he has to, and he wont be happy about it. (case in point: There was a play in the middle of Q3 where the Bills were in opponent's territory, around the 35. Tuel rolls right in what appeared to be a designed roll. The TE rolled with him and was wide open in the flat, about 7 yards downfield, waving for the ball. But Tuel saw him and looked away to scan downfield some more. Finally, when nothing was open, Tuel came back to the TE with a dump off. THAT is what a dump-off is for. I didnt see EJ ever preferring to go downfield. EJ was just excited to have somebody open). We have DOWNFIELD weapons, and we'd better have a qb who uses them. Give a player a chance to make a play.
