  1. We need a QB who burns with fire to be the greatest QB of all time. (we used to have one). Whether he makes it or not doesnt matter. Honestly, I'd say Tuel is closer to that than EJ on our roster, and Thad Lewis is the closest of the bunch . Sigh. So draft another one. This shtt is not funny. We need to win now.
  2. Me too. But we all should know that it wont be. For so many reasons. Since it wont be, I guess it should be whatever will help us evaluate EJ to make a definitive decision. Since (sigh) we arent winning the superbowl this year no matter what. So go ahead and get him some protection or some toys. Its a QB league. My sig notwithstanding, I am not feeling EJ so far. We need a QB. bottom line.
  3. yes, i wanted EJ. Not because I wanted EJ. But because I wanted a QB. So far, it doesnt look like we have one. So yes, I'm for drafting one in the first round. I realize that's not going to happen. But the tone of this board should be winning the superbowl this year. The tone of this organization should be winning the superbowl this year. I'm tired of wrangling over what will move us from 7-9 to 9-7.
  4. I was slogging through every post in this thread. And I realized something. Almost every Bills post on this website, for the last several years, is really, when you boil it down, a REBUILDING post. How do we rebuild? How do we get "better?" Who do we fire/hire? How do we make the playoffs finally. ------- Instead, lets start talking about "How do we win the superbowl this year?" What will put us over the top? Stop plugging leaks and rearranging deck chairs. We need, in order: QB. That is all.
  5. Or why they ever, ever, ever, gave up Anquan Boldin. Ever.
  6. its just not the Hall of Very Good. In his era he was very good. But not feared. Not a game-changer. You could narrate the history of the NFL without mentioning his name and it would be a complete story. I went to those games. I loved Andre. But I also love the NFL, and i'm kind of a purist. (FWIW, I think maybe the biggest travesty is Curtis Martin. Some people say "if Curtis Martin (or so-and-so) is in, then Reed should be. But I think there should be a stronger argument to kick Martin out than to say "well its diluted, so lets keep going along that path")
  7. This. And only this. I'm sick of missing the playoffs and being a joke and being irrelevant. There is no other position we can draft that will potentially get us to the playoffs other than QB. If it hurts EJ's feelings, too bad. If it creates excellent competition, great. If we draft one and they both suck in 2014, draft another one in the first round in 2015. You MUST have one. 2 is fine. Zero is not an option (unless you enjoy missing the playoffs). (the real problem is that Whaley probably wont).
  8. These. We havent had an "open when not open" WR since Moulds. Losing Spiller for a 3d wouldnt bother me. A 2nd would be a steal.
  9. Not only are you 100% correct, but another thought occurs to me. Since this is clearly a QB league, and since drafted QBs dont cost an arm and a leg anymore, smart teams should draft one in the first round EVERY year. (unless you truly are just a player away from the SB, or a superstar talent is available other than a QB [Jadeveon maybe]) Why not? Develop QBs EVERY year and trade them. Develop them and keep them. Develop them and start them. Or wash them out, rinse, repeat. Since QB is the top commodity by far, smart teams should do this. Why not?
  10. This is dumb. Comparing stats of qbs is dumb. Stats do not make a franchise qb. Jimbo was the unquestioned leader from day one. EJ is just trying to fit in and get by and improve. Jimbo was trying his heart out to make plays all over the field. EJ is trying not to mess up Jimbo was trying to be the greatest QB in history, from day one. EJ is trying to do his best or something. You can tell when you have a real franchise QB, even in his rookie year. And you can usually tell when you dont.
  11. I dont want a real good qb. If you guaranteed me that EJ would become "real good" i would demand we draft a qb in the first round next year. We need a Franchise QB. One who burns to be the best qb in the history of football. I dont want to wait 3-4 years to see if EJ can "become" Matt Schaub or Alex Smith or Sam Bradford or Carson Palmer "under the right circumstances."
  12. fixed. Remember, spelling counts.
  13. no. I'm kinda tired of hearing this. No one ever thought Manning was a bust, or even close. Manning had crappy stats after a few games. There was never ever anyone who even thought he would not be a very good QB after those few games. Manning was basically Russell Wilson. The unquestioned leader from day one. They knew what they had in him. EJ has crappy stats after a few games too. But more than that. EJ has crappy footwork/mechanics. EJ has not taken charge of the team (like Manning, Wilson, and others did). Manning would never have been confused with Captain Checkdown 2.0. EJ . . . I just dont know. But he does not "feel" like he has that special something. It feels like he's a guy who plays QB, trying to do his best. It does not feel like he is killing himself to be the best QB ever. I want a QB who is trying his very best to be the best QB ever. If its EJ, fine. If its Manziel, that's fine too.
  14. Sorry dude. But this is the thinking that has us where we are today. Lipstick on a pig. There is only one key missing piece. When the Colts went 1-15 and drafted Luck, and the players and coaches said "we are not rebuilding" everybody laughed. But they were right. Nowadays, rebuilding means "trying to find a QB." After you actually get one, you dont need to rebuild anything.
  15. This is the only post in this thread that I DONT agree with. This is the most lucid thread I have read here in a long long long time. No whining. No kool aid either. Just a nice, sober reflection on the current reality of life as a Bills fan. (If you havent read every post before mine, please take a minute and do so). We do not have a franchise QB. Until we get one we will not be competitive. Period. I dont care about the upcoming draft. I think I know how Barry Sanders felt. I think "rebuilding" in the NFL must be redefined. The new definition should be: "Still trying to find a franchise QB." Re-tooling at any other position doesnt matter at all. However, if you find your QB, your rebuilding is complete. Then, you're just tweaking the roster a little. Put another way, the Bills arent currently tuning up their car. They have been shopping for a car to tune, for the last 13+ years. Or, not shopping, but waiting for one to materialize out of thin air.
  16. I was about to agree. But now I think its the "culture of not having a Franchise QB." Why bother if you dont have confidence in the offense? Even down 20-3, if that had been Andrew Luck back there, or Manning or (etc.), I think this young team woulda played like wild dogs on both sides.
  17. This. Sigh. Keep drafting one until we get it right. I don't care about "wasted draft picks." Until you get a franchise quarterback they are all wasted pics. Talent going to waste all over the field. Why bother drafting the best pass-rushing OLB in the draft (or insert your favorite non-qb position) if your QB will only lead you to a 6-10 season?
  18. Tuel over EJ was my point. Prefer to what i'm seeing on the field today.
  19. Because, yet again, EJ's footwork sucks. And with leg injury probably didnt work on it when he was out.
  20. Hard to when your FOOTWORK sucks. And, my Sig aside, I am cooling quickly on EJ. He does not WANT to throw downfield. True, the Pitt dbs are playing way off. And Polamalu said pregame that EJ waits to see receivers open, instead of throwing them open. A work in progress. In some ways I prefer Tuel.
  21. Not quite my point. Maybe I didnt articulate it well. My point is that past regimes waited until we had a defined need, then went dumpster diving. Whaley didnt wait. "Oh, you have a guy on your PS who is better than what we have in the pipeline, lemme git 'er done." to me, this is a truer example of the stock phrase "we are always trying to improve our roster." This time, I think we mean it.
  22. Agreed. Run it.
  23. Wrong. Fullback Mack Strong. It might as well be Punkbitchess Ashardasican. And if you wanna know what makes linebackers crazy, try growing up with the name Dick. Butt. Kiss. Yeah, i'm sure the kids in the neighborhood never noticed that one.
