  1. That's why you have scouts. That's why you have to trust your front office. In every draft there are a couple, and only a couple, game-changing players. If you trust your homework and think you know who one of them is, GET HIM. Give your coaches enuf good players and trust them to work their magic. The idea that draft picks are risky only underscores the point. What if your 2nd doesnt work out anyway? You could have used him to move up for . . . Khalil Mack, for instance. And dont look back.
  2. Bills trade up for Khalil MACK. (Cle at 4 or Jax at 3) And live happily ever after.
  3. Dude. Think about what one single player would improve this team most in this draft. And in the top ten, you'd better not miss. Other than QB (which Whaley wont do), or a LT, (which Whaley wont do because Glenn is pretty good), what other player would you trade up for? The kid from Buffalo, who is a stud. Git. Er. Done.
  4. hells to the f*** no. Is you crazy? (because sometimes crazy people dont know they crazy) I wouldnt give you a conditional 4th for Romo. Let him go golfing while my real QBs are working hard to perfect their craft. I want a QB who burns with the fires of hell to be the best QB in the history of the league.
  5. Crap. Now you got me reconsidering. Maybe we move to #3. The price difference isnt much, between 4 and 3. And we'd rather give extra picks to Jax than to Cleveland.
  6. Hate it generally, or just Hate it for Watkins. In another thread I have us trading up to #4 for Mack. Is that better for you?
  7. But why? I respect your opinions on this board. They would only be moving down 5 spots, plus getting more picks, or SJ13, or something. If they want Carr, I fully expect him to be there at 9,
  8. . . . but that's the point. If McShay is saying thay want Clowney, Robinson, or Watkins, THAT means the Bills are feeding him false info. Which teams always do at this time of year. And who says they cant/wont move Mack to DE?
  9. I really think they do want to trade up. I dont think its pure smoke and mirrors. There's nothing to be gained by announcing that you want to trade up, except playing the upper teams against each other to earn your business, which is good. And I think they want MACK. That would be such a feel-good story for the fans. And here is your smoke, to back up my feeling its MACK. From PFT today: “I’ve heard from three league sources in the past week that the Bills are trying to trade up,” McShay writes. “If they do make a move, it’ll likely be to land Clowney, Robinson or Watkins.” http://profootballta...nt-to-trade-up/ Also, Browns wanna trade down, (and I'm sure Whaley and Pettine are still cool). http://profootballta...an-fourth-pick/ And I think they will move to #4 with cleveland. Cleveland wants a QB and can still get one at 9. We dont need to jump to 3 because Jax isnt taking Mack. They need a QB also. And I dont think that Whaley thinks that WR is a position of need. And I agree.

  11. I think Whaley wants to trade up to 4, Cleveland, and take Mack. The fan-base would love it. Then the best RT in the 3rd (having given up the 2nd). I dont think, and I dont think Whaley thinks, that WR is as big of a need as the fans do.
  12. I thought Nicklas is the better blocking TE. ASJ cant block if his life depended on it, per mayock, I thought. http://www.nfl.com/d...kins?id=2543683 Weaknesses Could stand to sculpt his physique and get functionally stronger. Work in progress as an in-line blocker. Not an explosive athlete. Ordinary release. Builds to speed. Tight hips. Does not pop out of breaks. Limited elusiveness after the catch. Receptions and yards fell off by nearly 50 percent as a junior. Character and stability need to be looked into." ---- To me, ASJ or even Ebron is only an upgrade. Neither is a special player. Pass.
  13. I've had this inkling feeling the last couple days, with Whaley's comments about moving up. I think the "plan" is to move up to 4 to get either Mack or Watkins. But I cant convince myself that Whaley sees WR as a pressing need in a deep wr draft. Think how much "feel good" points the Bills would get from the fans if they take Mack.
  14. 1. Johnny Manziel -- Jax 2. Jadeveon Clowney - Houston 3. Blake Bortles - Minnesota 4. Khalil Mack - Buffalo (probably moving up to 4 or 3. Jax can still get Manziel at 9) 5. Mike Evans - Tampa
  15. Opposite. If no QBs go in top 8, that means no one thought they were worth taking or moving up HIGH for. I think we'd be open for QB business at 9. Its like the response to the posters who say "trade down" all the time, and are reminded that if there's no player there that WE think is worth the 9th pick, who else will? But in this scenario, the answer is "anybody looking for a QB."
  16. I think I agree with the OP, if we stay at 9 and he's there. RT will have the most impact on this team. Will be involved in every play. Even moreso than LG slightly. If they move up, it will be for Mack or Watkins, in that order, but not Robinson or Clowney. Robinson > Matthews, but why move up for something you can get at 9, more or less.
  17. very good info. And now that the draft is only 10 days away, I can start to allow myself to care about who we pick. The article links to analyses of QBs, WRs, TEs, and CBs. The only 2 we might take at 9 are WR evans and TE Ebron. But there's wrs and TEs in round 2 we might look at (nicklas, ASJ).
  18. Out of every draft, 5 years later, you look back and think there were only about 7-10 players worth a shtt. Whatever capital you have to burn to get one of them, you burn. I trust whaley. If he's sold on a guy, then get him and dont look back. Dont gamble in the top 10
  19. right. because Detroit is stupid.
  20. If its about fitting within a defense, how about swapping Suh for Dareus? The ol "change of scenery" cliche.
  21. Lions dont need a RB. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/25/draft-needs-detroit-lions/ http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/25/personal-issue-sidelines-mikel-leshoure-for-final-two-days-of-minicamp/ Probably more like SJ and a mid pick or conditional pick. I would even consider Woods instead.
  22. Yes. I smoked a little too much crack this morning.
  23. I've never quoted myself before on this board. But the more I think about it, the more I reverse course and I really WANT Suh. Its part Bill parcells' planet theory (there are only a couple people on the planet like him in his category; see: Wilfork, Vince; Johnson, Calvin; O'Neill, Shaquille) and part of me thinks he is the Sam Adams/Warren Sapp that Dareus was supposed to be. And if he matures, he can be the Bruce Smith irresistible force DL-man. Swing for the fences, methinks. I'll take a 15 yard penalty every now and then.
  24. (i'm pretty sure Mario plays RDE, not LDE, but no big deal. The link to the Bills depth chart is blank w/r/t names-positions. The roster just says DE). I think schwartz doesnt know how to control Suh. Can Marrone? I live in LA. Sports-talk radio is all lakers (and USC football. This, even with the Clippers in the playoffs). They often discuss how Kobe Bryant needs a coach he respects, (ie; championships), otherwise he will run all over that coach. Suh might be in the same mold.
  25. Only possible problem I see is that we dont have a strong locker room. No one to put him in place or keep him in check. That said, I am very much in favor of it. It would be a cheap, incentive-laden deal. Almost no risk. Git 'er Done !!!
