  1. The larger question is: Is the NFL in trouble? will parents push kids to safer sports? Will young adults choose different sports? Will young NFL players take the money and run, rather than risk it. OVERALL, will QB become just another on the list of positions where there's not enuf guys to fill?
  2. No. When I read on PFT that he retired, my first thought was "why walk away from the money? Play one more year to feather your retirement nest egg, like Orton." My second thought was, the NFL is in very very serious trouble. The game I love is in serious trouble. Help.
  3. Looks like Proteus is trying to get a roster spot. Maybe he's secretly Greg Hardy. Or maybe Tim Tebow.
  4. I dont agree that he was ever a "solid starting QB," but instead was in the right place at the right time, to cash in on the ugly lack of "solid starting QBs" in the NFL. That said, I cannot disagree with the bolded statement. I want to. I really do. But I just cant.
  5. Bravo. Well done. That is awesome. And it doesnt have any feel of being a PR ploy. Mostly because MD doesnt need one. He just loves his home and his peeps.
  6. But . . . but . . . I Love Tuel. I love his moxie. I like that he will take shots downfield. Captain checkdown he is not. We need that attitude around here. Tuel plays (correctly) like his job is to deliver the ball to playmakers, instead of staring at the defense waiting for the perfect guy to get perfectly open. Tuel !!!
  7. And we've seen him organizing team workouts in the offseason. And we've seen him hiring QB gurus to train with in the offseason. And we've seen him . . . . yep. Get over it. Teams often swing and miss on draft picks. Be happy that our team chose to swing at a QB, instead of a safety or Kicker or something. And now, to the future ------ >
  8. i voted Woods. Depends on the formation. And who is the better blocker. In Roman's system, methinks the better blocker will see the field more in 2wr sets. If its 3 wide, I dunno. Harvin is shifty in the slot. And I'd like to see more G88dwin for stretching the field.
  9. Unions havent been necessary in this country since the 1940s. Child labor and sweatshops and fire-trap factories are a thing of the past, and are never coming back. If any other Union had its annual election in Hawai'i, the membership would probably revolt. Because NFL players make so much compared to ordinary Union workers, nobody bats an eye.
  10. fixed, because otherwise, who knows or cares if you, personally and individually, stopped watching. (oh, and plus too, you are not going to not watch. You are not. Even if they announce on the day before that they are going to punch your mama in the face on national TV, you ARE watching the Draft)
  11. http://wgntv.com/2015/02/17/elderly-driver-hits-9-vehicles-in-parking-lot-of-wisconsin-grocery-store/ (please dont tell anybody. She's very embarrassed and promises it wont happen again). Why on Earth? You sound like a teenager. Why have "Rodak" (subject) and "his" (subject pronoun) in the same sentence? The "his" is redundant. "What is Rodak's issue?" is fine. "What is Rodak, you know the guy, what is his issue, that guy Rodak" is stupid. We dont need "Rodak" and "his" in the same sentence.
  12. Also, your 13 year old should have said "What is Rodak's issue" is far more grammatically correct than your actual thread title. You shouldnt use a subject and a subject pronoun in the same sentence. "My mother, she went to the store" is bad. What's wrong with "my mother went to the store." I digress. Carry on, sir.
  13. What is the point of this post? Is it anti ACLU? Is it anti "Redskins?" Is it anti Politics? If its anti ACLU, did you think that no one would ever dare to take the counterpoint to the PC argument? Did you consider that they might have a valid point (that if you're going to force a name change, do not do it under this particular piece of legislation, but do it some other way)? If its anti "Redskins," I think Florio could use you in his crusade. Personally, I kinda favor the free market (to the limited extent that we actually have one). If you dont like the name . . . .
  14. Me too. Vividly. He is my Haloti Ngata (even though we actually had a chance at Ngata. Just a player I wanted so bad, the way most of you guys wanted Ngata). But I think "no" to the HOF. Hall of famous, sure. He's a household name. And a very good player. But no HOF for me.
  15. Sounds like he's mailing it in. Most insurance policies cover situations where you Cant play. Not where you dont want to play for the money you're offered. Just the fact that he had offers (presumably after taking a physical exam) shows he Can play. good luck with getting an insurer to pay for that. And good luck getting a team to take a chance on you, where you've shown you're only here for the money (ie; to get injured again and/or to support your insurance claim.)
  16. 1) I love P. Manning. I think he is the best QB ever. And I do mean ever. 2) P. Manning is greedy. I am basing it on how he jacked the Colts into paying him huge dollars to gamble on his health. I dont begrudge Manning his $$$$$. I slightly begrudge Revis, because, while an excellent player, he just seems to rape teams for $15-20MM per year for one guy - in a league that no longer needs a "shutdown CB" with 4 and 5 WR sets. 3) Harvin thinks he is elite. He thinks he commands top $$. He reminds me of Mike Wallace. Dood, how about playing well, for the love of the game. Harvin reminds me of
  17. Slightly off topic here. But a lot of posters call him "Tanny." My brain is dangerously close to reading it as "Tranny." I kinda hope you guys are doing it on purpose.
  18. fully agree with #3. Strongly disagree with the bolded portion of #5. And its a problem. There is veteran leadership on the defensive side. But not on offense. Wood? That's about it. Cassel? hahahaha. I was already worried about who was going to keep Richie in line. And now baby-boy Harvin? ugh. You might say that the side of the ball doesnt matter. But that's only on gameday, imho. During meetings, practice, in the lockerroom, etc., I think guys are influenced by the other guys on their side of the ball. That's why I liked having Orton so much.
  19. I HATE the Harvin signing. HATE. He is a whiny little bi%#c. And he is a mercenary. He is one of the 3 greediest players in the NFL (Revis, P.Manning). We have guys who can do what he does (Sammy, Goodwin (?)). He is a headache. And you gotta feed him the ball to keep him happy. We shall see.
  20. the "need" for a big WR is always due to the inaccuracy of the QB. Big WR = larger margin of error. Its not about jump-balls. If a guy can get open, he can get open. If the QB can get him the ball, . . . Touchdown. If the QB cant get him the ball, "we need a big huge red-zone target" = "our QB sucks in the red zone."
  21. Neither? So you would cut both of them?
  22. i like the dood. Because he is a football player who is fast, instead of a fast guy trying to play football. He might have to play special teams really well to make the squad. I am not in favor of us getting Harvin, partly because of its impact on G88dwin.
  23. No sir. No way. Whaley has "cover" by saying it was a group pick (ie; Buddy Nix). Pegula couldnt care less Rexy couldnt care less. Ditto for Roman. Nobody in the building is beholden to EJ or to the pick itself. They didnt bring in guys to challenge Tuel. They brought in guys who they think can edge out EJ. The current regime has more invested in Cassel than in EJ. Marinate on that for a bit.
  24. DAMN you beat me to it. And to the OP's point . . . pretty much. I think it just shows the frustration 'round these parts.
  25. I said this to a friend (Bills fan too) about a month ago. I gave the odds of EJ starting opening day at 10-15% Because the FO is not bringing in any QB who they dont think can beat out EJ. They are not bringing in guys to compete with Tuel. And you arent spending millions on a guy you dont think can beat EJ. And because its a new offense. Who really thinks EJ could have beaten out Cassel in the old offense, much less a new one? Hell, Orton came into an offense EJ "knew" and took his job in about 4 weeks. Every QB on this team is starting from scratch. And the other guys are better NFL QBs than EJ. Sorry. But our QB situation is shtt.
