But . . . this is not a "funny" post. It speaks to a lot of us. You guys at OBD need to wake up. You should have woken up about 7 years ago. .. ---- I was talking to a friend today. Both born-raised in Buffalo, city of. Both been fans since the 80s. Die hard. About 4 seasons ago i was on the verge of checking out. He kept me afloat for a couple years after. Because (I think) I love football and there is only one team I can possibly root for. But the JOY has long since passed. I told my friend today that I have (5 months) started following a Euro soccer "club." I have bought a couple t-shirts and watched 7-8 games. (I could never follow any team in any sport in the USA besides the Bills). And you know what? . . . I am excited to watch. Win or lose, I feel we have a chance. I actually CARE if the team wins or loses. More deeply, I realized from following this foreign team that, my Bills fandom is not only dead, but has been dead a long time. I havent felt this way about the Bills since the mid 90s. My fandom is awakened. Elsewhere, unfortunately. The bottom line, Pegulas, is this: The Bills havent been relevant in this century. Fix it. The true bottom line is: Fix it or dont, who cares. Me and OP and many other lifelong Bills fans have checked out. You will need to actually WORK to bring us back. Football used to be fun

If you could pick just ONE player

Winner. Bonus points to those who knew, last night, that this would be the scene this morning. -

nobody. Nobody since 1960, beyond those you said were off limits. Because nobody else would have made a significant difference. You chose Andre Reed? Why? He would need the ball actually thrown to him. Sad. -
In an ironic way it would be even more Bills-like for them to somehow make me actually watch another game. Possibly ever. How bad do you have to beat your wife before she finally leaves AND finally doesnt come back?

Were we the worst team playing on Sunday?
maddenboy replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not. In years past I would have been. But I'm numb now. Its different now. I have been kinda dead this offseason, but when they hired Rob, my heart shut off. I have been following the bills since 1988, but . . . I didnt even know they have a game this thursday night until the pop-up today during the televised game. . A friend and avid bills fan was shocked at me when I told him ("how the hell could you possibly not know ???). But its . . . different . . . now. Clown show. We are . . . perfectly . . . irrelevant. It would be like rooting for the Buffalo Braves to win the NBA championship in 2016. , . (please dont tell me LA clippers, blah blah. I am buffalo born and raised. And went to a couple Braves games. I aint stupid. You get my point). What's the point? Really? We are all going to kill at least 75 hours this year following the Braves, and posting about it. -

Yahoo Pickem and Survival challenge
maddenboy replied to NCDAWG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think it should be (nearly) required that ur team name over there is the same as your Poster name over here. Part of the fun is smack talk. Here. (my first year doing survivor, anywhere. should be fun) -
Week 1 Predictions: Bills at Ravens
maddenboy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills 34, Ravens 13. I see both teams moving the ball at will between the 20s. But the Bills doing a much much better job of punching it in. I see the Bills as 6-10 or 7-9 this year. But this game is definitely one of the few wins. -
Your honest prediction for the Bills record this year
maddenboy replied to Spurna's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hated to, but I voted 8-8. It feels so wishy-washy. But I did go through the games, and I found only 8 wins. Wins: Baltimore, Jetsx2, Fishx2, Niners, Brownies, Raiders (surprise win on the Left Coast). Ls: NEx2 (BB v RR = Lol), Jags (surprise loss), Ariz, Rams (surprise loss considering their QB situation), Pitt, Cin, Seattle. Best I could do. Rexy's teams are undisciplined, and there's always a surprise win and a surprise L with this team, no matter who is coaching. . . . which is exactly why I picked both games opposite of you. Bills always surprise (in both directions) in a couple games against middling teams. -
instead of reading the entire thread (I read about 1/3), But having skimmed/read the OP's linked article, I came away with one thought. The article paints Buff as one of the most racially divided cities in the USA. Prolly is. I havent lived there since the early 90s. But . . . I believe it was the 1980 census, where we were waiting with baited breath, for what we saw all around us to be confirmed (or not). And yes, finally, the City of Buffalo was more than 50% black. OMG it was dancing in the streets. Any of y'all remember? (Edit: Apparently I was misinformed. Or our elders mistold us. But still it was good times back then. See pg 63. https://www2.census.gov/prod2/decennial/documents/1980/1980censusofpopu80134unse_bw.pdf )

Pot roast would have to have an awfully big opinion of himself, if he thought that NE cutting him was their "misery" in which he had a chance to delight. But I digress. And I expect he will just be happy to keep getting exorbitant NFL paychecks for just being a strong fat guy.

Kevon Seymour's technique is impressive
maddenboy replied to Cover 1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The video on the site is very well done. I like how you describe what we are seeing, then show it, then roll it a 2nd time. Slo-mo really helps too. I had forgotten you were "dot net" until google helped me out. And the kid does look very very well trained. -
voted for my own last name. Only because a current or former Bills player (who has played in dozens of games) has the same first and last name as me. Kinda cool. Otherwise, Kelly/12. Not big on wearing another man's name on my back, but . . . the savior of my favorite team can get a pass.

It was this thread. (see: the first couple pages) It was just renamed by OP after the news came out.

been saying for years, to anyone who will listen, that we should hurry up and Volunteer for Hard Knocks. Get it out of the way now. So that in a couple years when we are ready to make a serious run, we dont have that distraction.

maddenboy replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yep, i was in that convo. And i did not opine whether he was worth the option. We have him for whatever reason. Water under the bridge. But we have him. and he is awesome. And he is (imho) the best route runner we have ever had, even going back to 1960. -
NFL future power rankings: projecting the next 3 seasons
maddenboy replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dont want to "improve." I want to win the SuperBowl THIS YEAR. Improving just gets me from 6-10 to 9-7. How does that help me? I do not want to improve. I want to win the Superbowl this year. I dont want to barely make the playoffs. I dont want to "make a run." I want to dominate and win the SB this year. Lets discuss how we can do that, instead of discussing how we can get a little bit better, rinsing and repeating. -

i'm 48. I remember a few old schoolers. And I dont like when its skewed towards the newer generation. but it has to be Watkins. That dude is purely uncoverable. like, for real. Hon. mention to Stevie. Super smart routes except that he seemed to improvise so the QB didnt always know where he was gonna be. Watkins is the best route runner we have ever had.
