  1. or you could supply them arms. we don't have any problem supplying israel arms, do we?
  2. the ends don't justify the means, imho. it's their fight, not ours. lets just help to make it a more fair one. isn't what we've seen in syria, libya and egypt exactly what the neocons desired and anticipated from emancipating iraq? the least we could do is to give those emboldened by our actions a chance to fight for what we precipitated.
  3. cha cha is considered ballroom as are east coast and west coast swing. others include waltz, viennese waltz, foxtrot, samba, rumba, salsa, merengue, mambo, tango, argentine tango and i'm sure i'm forgetting some. not all events include all the dances but most do most of them. none are patterned -all lead- follow except choreographed routines (we never go to events like this).shag, nightclub two step, and texas 2 step aren't usually considered ballroom (nor polka) but many ballroom dancers cxan do them and they sometimes play one or 2 at an event. they taught a lesson on 2 step at a the recent west virginia event i linked. anyway, if you're looking for more dances or instruction, see if there's a USA dance chapter in your area. i consider myself a noob as we go long stretches without dancing and i'ver forgotten way more moves than i remember. never thought i'd like it but my wife threatened to stop skiing with me if i didn't try.
  4. who's talking about "any and all"? selling artillery and ammo isn't exactly that. i've read the insurgents were paying a couple bucks a round for bullets. couldn't we sell at prices that the syrian govt gets, at least? i might have meant "my apologies for getting your nationality wrong"...and it is a very nice country.
  5. and assad is a friend to israel? so what? my apologies.
  6. how bout arming the insurgents to the level of equivalence? sure, there are problems with this...are they going to be better off with them then the current regime? will they turn on us? dunno, but don't we westerners proclaim our love and support for democracy very loudly and publicly? hasn't this reasoning been recently used by American leaders (especially conservatives) to justify more costly interventions? this seems a measured response to an ongoing massacre. they're laying landmines meant for refugees fleeing the country and shooting into turkish refugee camps. didn't foreign powers help arm our insurgents in our revolution?
  7. didn't expect him to...but at least he tried. more than i see most of the rest of the world willing to do so far.
  8. kofi, former sec general of u.n. trick question?
  9. no, ballroom. they do it twice a year on off seasons to fill the place up. some very good dancers from virginia, pa,ohio, west virginia there. i'm thinking new hampshires a bit far. don't know of anything similar near there but there might well be. i know of a similar weekend in nashville (opryland hotel, and yes, it's ballroom with big bands) for more than double the cost. theres also one at the grove park in asheville.
  10. unfettered greed in action. what/who will stop this evil bastard and his enablers?
  11. no, he's a pretzel choking moron manchurian candidate. the evil geniuses pulled the strings. nobody heard santorum's kid was hospitalized? or just too cynical to believe that might effect his decision? yall need to listen to more npr.
  12. don't know how close to west virginia you are but this is an excellent dance weekend plus they have a nice little 18 hole mountain golf course . price is good, too.
  13. ballroom dancing is a contact sport. good thing she wasn't doing the horizontal mambo. that can be very aggressive.
  14. AVG didn't report anything when i went there. sorry if it's so. here's a presumably safe link that might represent handshake interruptus at about 3:15 in a different ceremony. at the very least i think you could say bubba and billy aren't real comfortable around each other. and what's the "whoa" about when bubba starts talking about clubhouse staff? anyway, a great win and finally a lefty that i can cheer for enthusiastically.
  15. i've had a few awkward handshakes but this was epic. i missed it live but saw a clip of the ceremony on the course where bubba got his green jacket and it looked like it happened again. anybody else see that?
  16. have no idea if she had insurance. i checked with my agent when i got home from that trip and he told me i wasn't covered. i don't doubt you can be insured for a cost (maybe not for guys who do salvage work and such). I love snorkeling, too. probably would have loved scuba if not for the idiots that "taught me". this was a rare example where the threat of a potential lawsuit would actually protect the public.
  17. i'm not so sure. i did one of the 20 minute training dives in jamaica. spent that time in a pool learning how to put the equipment on and the next thing was at the bottom of the sea 30 feet down. i quickly realized that i didn't know what i was doing and got anxious. started stacking breaths (i don't know if thats what divers call it)- taking more air in than out so there wasn't enough volume in my lungs to take full breaths. i pointed to the dive master to go up but he ignored me (guess he didn't want to spoil the dive for the other divers). eventually i calmed down and was ok but will never dive again. there's a reason why life insurance excludes diving.
  18. anika sorenson can join me (or my twosome or threesome) anytime. and she can play golf pretty well, too. it really is about tradition in the south usually. some traditions are harmless and some not so much. i belong to a formal dinner/dance society that only allows men as members. of course, wives and girlfriends come to every event. wouldn't be a very good dance if they didn't. but traditionally they're not members of officers in the club. interestingly, when i've mentioned dropping out my wife immediately objects.

  20. lots of golf clubs (especially putters and drivers) - no matter what they say, you can't buy game. guitars ukeleles a pawn shop trumpet
  21. geez, i'm so embarrassed who knew you were the keeper of points for a man card? i always thought it had more to do with possession of an appendage and not a card.
  22. another movie with the same natural dialogue and flow as "before sunrise" is "once". unfortunately not yet on netflix despite it being made 6 years ago. still worth looking out for. made for about $200k. has made $9million. won best original song oscar. steven spielberg said it inspired him for a year.
