  1. Good information..any wat to tell which is which? i'm thinking this http://www.sears.com/craftsman-42-in-21hp-briggs-stratton-hydrostatic-turn/p-07128851000P?prdNo=9&ViewAll=true might be a husky and the $1150. 42 inch i looked at today is an mtd.
  2. what do you know about the 100 series mowers? my neighbor works at a Deere dealer and was selling a tractor with 40 hours on it at his house for $5700!! said he bought it for $7100...after i politely told him," neighbor, that's a bit more mower than i need" we talked and he told me what i said above. he said they have several replacement transmissions in stock for folks who decide to try to haul with their mowers. now i've got no plans on hauling (at least anything huge) and i can't complain about a 26 year old JD dying but he kinda scared me off. waddya think? yep. that's a concern that is very sad. Sears is an American institution.
  3. That's strange though, i searched "lawnmower" and got nothin. looks good! does it cut in reverse? or do you have to do some mods?
  4. my very old john deere l160 is dead. i've already put way too much into fixing it. So i'm hunting a new mower and my grass is getting higher by the minute. I'm told that the Deere's at Lowe's and Home Depot are no better than any other brand as they're built to the price point those stores require and thus cut corners, especially on the transmissions. A "true" JD starts at about 3K and that's more than i want to spend. So i'm looking at husqvarna or craftsman from sears with the 5 year service and warranty contract. Anybody have experience with these and especially with the service. the contract is about $100/year but that's the cost of yearly service anyway if you get it done on at a dealer. they supposedly come to the house to do it. and the salesman said if they need to repair it 4 times during the warranty, they give you a new replacement mower. Seems too good to be true. anybody know?
  5. agreed, except uconn might revoke your man card for using the word "boobies".and i've got a bone to pick with whoever recommended "rescue me". i liked it but my wife really, really liked it. other than the news, we watched it almost exclusively for several weeks. 6 seasons? really? the italian crazy mistress got really annoying about 1/2 way through.
  6. i missed mumford but have heard it was great fun. dawes and townes earles apparently put on good performances as well.make sure you see red molly at this years r and r.
  7. my yearly ihttp://www.bristolrhythm.com/ invitation to the best festival deal i know of. $40 buys some very good times. hope to see some Bills hats this year. yall come on down to Bristol. if the recent mumford http://www2.tricitie...wnt-ar-2124879/ show is any indication, Bristol's becoming a music destination.
  8. unfortunately the linky thing doesn't work here (old browser)) but do a search on "rasmussen bias" and read a few articles with the data. i particularly like "rasmussen polls were biased and inaccurate. Quinipiac, Survey USA performed strongly" Nov 2010, NYT.
  9. according to rasmussen, just about every major election in the last 10 years should have gone republican. his polls are outliers by definition.
  10. is it just me on this thread that thinks romney seriously worsened his chances for a fla win with the ryan pick?
  11. Anyone that considers vinyl siding an advancement deserves to have their judgement questioned continuously.
  12. wow, painting a pretty vivid picture there . so, OC, which is it? yep. did you read "the New Yorker" article on the fussbudget. was the timing of that article divinely inspired or was the info leaked?
  13. i find it kinda scary. but, i'm a weak, withering liberal, don't ya know? ok. if he's the intellectual leader, then i'm albert einstein.
  14. haven't read the rest of this thread but "intellectual leader of the republican party"? (meet the press started today's show with this romney sound bite). Doesn't that word alone raise the hackles of a significant contingent in the party? or is it just an oxymoron?
  15. the mens 200 was stunning. watched it in a sandals bar packed to the gills with hotel staff and amazed guests....magical! just f%^&ing euphoric. i don't think the jamaicans ever thought they could go 1.,2,3. nice tie in to their 50th year of independence. appropriately felt like we were watching history being made.
  16. the guy's phenomenal, as was the race. liked the women's 100 just as much. women's basketball, not so much. women's track is really good.
  17. by your reasoning, all of the almost 18000 doctors in this organization are not "good" doctors. this includes some very distinguished and respected clinicians and researchers. you might want to check out the cv and publications of Arthur Kellerman who was referenced in the wiki article on rationing in the us that i cited. by your criteria, he's not a good doctor, either. i'll happily keep the company of such people, your opinion notwithstanding.
  18. kind of like i just did for the freestyle double entendre.
  19. there really are very few moron doctors (at least with degrees from us schools). the volume of material required to digest and retain precludes them from making it through much less getting accepted in the first place. overall, the only more selective application process that i'm aware of is vet school. now douchebags, that's adifferent story.
  20. competitive swimming: fly=butterfly. freestyle usually means crawl but literally means any stroke. get it? watch the olympics. so far they've done the im (individual medley) but there is also a relay race with four swimmers on a team each doing adifferent stroke. the anchor (last swimmer) does freestyle. in the meet i described the last swimmer started in butterfly rather than crawl. fly is gnerally slower than crawl, especially in high school. his team still won. some thought he was showing off. the point is that not all racers in an event must do the same stroke as tasker incorrectly said. whew, that was so worth it!
  21. actually, not true. i've seen it happen in a medley relay in high school. the freestyle anchor for 1 team started in fly and had to finish in fly. still won. wouldn't admit to it being intentional. i've always favored freestyle.
  22. i always felt that the purpose of communication was, well, to communicate. it appears i did that. you discerned my meaning. you didn't like it. that's a different issue entirely. if you are at all perceptive, i'd assume you've noticed that i'm not a big fan of convention. i'v certainly noticed that you are. different strokes... i said that the use of the word was technically correct. i had a problem with it stylistically. that's subjective so i don't know how i could be terribly wrong. and if you weaken that grip a bit you might cure that duck hook.
  23. wasn't aware you were a high ranking member of the word police. when were you appointed? i really don't much care what words you're concerned with. couldn't you find something of a bit more gravity to direct your concern on? you know: like that snap hook that's creeping into your game causing you to hit a couple shots ob in your rounds with the docs. oh, and while technically acceptable, "coiner" seems awkward and contrived. it concerns me.
  24. i didn't create the term (see "definition"). seems to me you've already entered a debate.
  25. Being ranked 37th offends me. we all have different thresholds.
