I understand what you're saying overall but I also think you may just be one of these angry fans where if we went 16-0 you would say we suck and were lucky. I dunno. The 1st pick was far from luck and he was not anywhere near clearly covered. Robey broke on the receiver and make a nice pick. The 2nd one who cares. The 3rd turnover was the result of Mario doing what he's paid to do and get to the QB...was that luck too? Look I hear what your saying and we have a long way to go but you can sense a different vibe and steadiness about this new thing. I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't win another game all year but I still think we're on the come. Every team needs breaks to win in the this league...some teams get more breaks than others too it seems......so take them as they come.

I have to agree about hackett sucking....I've saying it all year myself. I think his poor calls at the worst times had resulted in leaving a lot on the field. Run, RUn, 3rd and long, throw short and pray Stevie or somebody can break a tackle for a 1st down. He is honestly beyond awful. But at the end of the day I'm a huge Bills fan so I hope that rookie OC improves at a fast pace so the talent on O can be realized....he's holding the team back IMO. Agree on this ST coach....we almost lose that game there on the runback...... But again...we WON, ON the ROAD, in the division!!!!!! 1st time since 2010 if anybody is paying attention Go Bills
-
I disagree...those 2 teams are up and coming, learning and playing much better than in recent years. With any luck the Jets beat the Pats in OT here. We'll see next week how we stack up but we;ve played some good teams so far and been in every single game.
-
1) The Bills won! 2) We won on the road! 3) We won in the dIvision! 4) We can't ever do anything easy! 5) These ain't the same ole Bills! GO BILLS!!!

Things are getting better, now we need wins to show for it
DR109 replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well....I'm surprised how game we are every week. I mean I am not a fan at all of Hackett....IMO he's horrible....but I hope he learns a grows and turns into a good one. For some reason this week I just sat back and enjoyed what was a good game. I didn't get mad when we lost...which is a shock around my house. I think we can all agree EJ wouldn't have made a difference. We played a very good team today.....probably the best one so far....and we had some good spurts and somehow kept it close when I thought it was going to get out of hand. I've conceded this is an evaluation year. Sure we could be anywhere from 0-6 to at least 5-1 but we;re not. Rookie coaches and a slew of rookie players out there flying around and scaring everyone. But now all I really want from this season is to beat the teams in our division. If we can do that I'll be convinced its a new day and next year things are looking up. I've lived in FLorida for 10 years and as a Bills fan I still hate the Dolphins more than anyone...so all I really want is a couple wins in the division. Just hope Hacket can grow as an OC as much as we expect the rookie players to grow. I think the D will come around with the consistency at some point. -
Thaddeus Lewis starting against Bengals

Simplified game plan? you mean run on 1st, run on 2nd, throw short on 3rd and long can be simplified? -

DR109 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't worry....if Lewis is bad or gets hurt then next week Maronne will spend 20 minutes going through his explanation and logic of why DIxon is now the starter and again not Tuel,,,,,,after a few weeks of this EJ will eventually be back and they'll move on. -

DR109 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would be perfectly fine with that. Marrone is giving him the leeway and the knuckle head won't change. If he would adapt and change and show he is willing to learn and grow then its a different story. He may be a great OC some day But so far sticking with this impotent no huddle thing that everybody likes to blame on the players not executing is a joke. I'm pretty sure thats how Lewis gets the call....he fits the offense better than Tuel. -

I totally understand what Marrone explained....to paraphrase...they like Tuel and if they put him on practice squad they risked losing him. Lewis was a lower risk and longer term they think Tuel is one to keep. Ok I got it. What doesn't make much sense is that somehow Lewis has a better grasp of the offense. Tuel has been in there every week. I think the short week leading up to Cleveland was tough but he should have been ready. I think the real deal is that they know the pressure is going to continue coming and the line won't handle it well.... and the young Tuel can't scramble, will make bad decisions and hurt the team and ultimately his confidence. So I'm like everyone else...if we're worried about that why did they keep Tuel and make him the backup. I want to trust this coaching staff but the OC never had my confidence and now the HC is making weird decisions on the fly.......we can't find an experienced guy we like, we dont trust our backup, so lets take the practice squad guy and promote him. WTF is what I say. Its hard to have confidence in this staff with all this, Here's the best part.....they are going to continue to run this ridiculous no-huddle and it was probably more about that than anything. When they called in Lewis to give him the good news they should have also said 'thats the good news....and the bad news is you're going to be running for your life all night long...and we have confidence you can run for your life well.....' Man I hope I'm wrong and he makes the HC look like a genius...but I have a bad feeling about this. Maybe if the OC wasn't doing what he's doing I'd feel better but this no-huddle was bad as it was but now to exacerbate it with the practice squad guy..... I dunno.....I'm stupified...... ...go bills....?!....? -
it wasn't that bad.....it was obvious he felt the questions were stupid I mean "what were you thinking when...." what he's thinking is "....what in the &^$#&^% kind of stupid question is that. I'm running around making plays can't you see that you moron ....." LOL Gotta love the killer eyes of a serial killer though...scare the daylights out of a few peeps.
-
I agree.....but I definitely feel we should be 3-1 but for the coaching decisions in game 1 specifically. It why I have been angry after the 1st 3 games. Young team with a bunch of talent and I feel that while the execution may not have been there the coaches blew it by not slowing things down so mayabe they could execute, or at least burn some clock and let the D catch a breather and try to hold on. Totally agree on the thoughts around the D. I'm excited for this team but the coaching staff needs to shake the rookie-ness more than the players IMO. SO I expect more anger following games. I mean if we get outplayed thats fine but if we lose when we could have won like against the Pats, then I tend to get upset. Ways of a life long Bills fan paying DTV so I can watch the games in Florida! Go Bills!!!
-
Me too! I guess I have to agree with you for the most part about Hackett today. There were a couple times I was scratching my head though. But the penalties need to be fixed pronto. Against the Pats...should have won that game
-
It may not have been pretty but it worked. Even though they didn;t huddle they burned clock in between plays and committed to the run which further slowed it down. And of course executing those runs is what made it work. Hackett still not stellar but its a start. The run D was stout and considering all the injuries the secondary played big. Penalties continue to kill but I firmly believe the time of possession flip this week is what kept the D fresh and earned a W. I still think we should be 3-1 and we better learn how to win in the division quickly.
-
personally I think its just frustrating because the rookie players are doing a decent job and the coaching staff has their heads up their asses. Yes thats the problem. Be patient all you want....we have all been patient for many many years. Hell, I didn't expect to make the play offs anyhow....but when I see the potential there the last 3 weeks being wasted I lose patience. The only change I want is for the no huddle to be shelved or tweaked. This team will scare many this year....but I think we can win a few games too and thats all I ask for.

ESPN...Teams targeting tired Bills D
DR109 replied to Kemp2Warlick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
its always a question of execution....and since the O can't execute at this point it would be best to slow it down. As many of us agree the D needs some rest. I would submit Hackett needs to look at the defense he;s against once in awhile too so he can make adjustments and calls that may have more success. Too many 3 and outs and some real craziness like last week after the sack 3rd and long and nice play on the side line and out of bounds 4th and 7 if I recall ... and they rush right back to the line, the The D comes hard again and EJ is forced to throw a bad pass. It was one of the more bizarre things I have seen in the NFL. No secret they were going to come hard and we don;t think it would be good to huddle up and talk about it. It was make a 1st down or game over so why no huddle. Its going to continue. We have a rookie back there and the opponents will keep coming until we can execute effectively and repeatedly and i don't see it getting better. Its a real shame too because this team has some talent and EJ has a future if we can keep him upright and confidence in tact. Well we know they don't listen to us experts so here's to rooting for the Bills and hoping the O suddenly starts stringing 1st downs together.....and hoping the D doesn't get demoralized. Go Bills! -
[closed]Is it time to scrap the no-huddle/uptempo offense?
DR109 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
all the more reason to sloooowww it dddownnnnn! We all want it to work...but its not at this point and the D is out there too much. -
[closed]Is it time to scrap the no-huddle/uptempo offense?
DR109 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
of course its poor execution....which is why it should be scrapped or changed at least from majority to when it makes sense. If you can't execute it, slow it down! If its poor execution is has to either be the offense or the play calling or the players.... they seem to think they have the right players since this staff put the team together so if the players can't execute it then the offense and/or play calling is the issue. Heck if its a normal pace offense and it doesn;t work its the execution. What the hell kind of argument is that anyway? 3rd or 4th and criticals should huddle up, take a breath, take a look, talk it over. They hit a big play go no huddle maybe. But my biggest issue with it is that the Defense is on the field too much due to the poor execution -
the offense is the bigger problem. The secondary is depleted and they picked on it but the D is on the field far too long every game so far....1,2,3,punt...45 seconds gone, D back out there....thank god for commercial breaks. Do I think the D looks good? No but I think the impact of this dumb no huddle plays a bigger part of the success of the opposing offenses against our D than many people want to admit.

One reason why the Bills OLine are injury prone
DR109 replied to Dean Cain's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be happy with the O-line blocking for a change......not sure injuries have anything to do with that at this point........ -
Well said MDH, well said. Now we get Baltimore .... ugh .....at least their stats are in the bottom half of the league at this point
-
perfect example!....there's many others. Its just not working. A simple tweak such as if we get a 1st down or big play go hurry up. But when there's a negative take a few seconds to re-group. Right...so slow it down...let the kid think about it...execution will come...there's a lot of talent there....the coaches are being hard headed
-
This not huddle, up tempo, whatever you want to call it is a joke. Some jerk off accused me 2 weeks ago of being a nutty fan when we lost to the Pats....the damn thing doesn;t work. The D is on the field too effin long while the O goes 3 and out time after time after time. Then the jerk will say the D is the problem. Come on man...4th down and we go no huddle knowing full and well they're coming hard yet again after EJ....which predictably ends in a bad throw. Come on coaching staff...slow it down...let the D hang in there while EJ gets a second to set his feet please, maybe a second to think who he's throw to or against. Ease into it later in the season or after we get a 1st down but just stop already with the 3 and outs, 45 seconds off the clock and punt. Flame suit is on for you jack offs who tell me I'm a terrible fan. Hey they're better than I thought we'd be but this is a joke. The Jets tried to give us the game and we eff'd ourselves to another loss thanks to the no huddle BS garbage. If I'm a defensive player I'm calling BS at this point.....I'm tired watching the poor b'tards....not to mention the secondary is depleted.... COme on Marrone....man up and admit you were wrong and grow a set and tell Hackett to slow it down....get EJ up under center and let him get a look. Worse case is the D gets a break and be able to hold a hair better. This young team can win some games if the coaches get their heads out of their arses. enough already....

Its the way of the fickle sports fan. I obviously don't post here much and you personally don't know me but flip flopping I'm not. The not huddling up at the end was just the worst part. Not huddling early on was just not nearly as bad. It didn't work for the vast majority of the game....if it was working I would agree with you but it wasn't working at all. So with 5 minutes to go and critical to score I think it would have been wise to take a breath, talk it over, and try to get some 1st downs and maybe in field goal range. You saw the panicked time outs soon as they got a 1st down...it was like a light bulb went on that time was running out. Time of possession was lopsided in their favor. Like you said Brady only needs 30 seconds...so you're happy giving him almost twice as much time to do it? And have our defense out there that long? And then point at them for blowing the lead. No huddle is great when you get 1st downs. We had a lot of 3 and outs...you can't be a fan of that. Again the best way to beat the Pats is to keep Brady off the field and 2-1 time of possession won't get you a win....no matter how dominating a defense Brady will beat you. And we weren't dominating, we were hanging in there and making some plays against a team without 2 star tight ends and 1.5 receivers. But look...I think there were a lot of positives and I'm really encouraged. I'm pissed because we could have won that game a number of different ways and we didn't. Did I expect going in to win? No...but once we had the lead I thought we should have with some better coaching decisions and game awareness. But thats just me. Go Bills!

Did Pats kick FG on 5th down at 21-17?
DR109 replied to Boatdrinks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
+1 Thats what I recall...and yes the entire TV crew missed it but you could hear it in the background while dierdorf was droning on over the replay -
Aside from all that....nobody thinks this up tempo no huddle was a problem? To me its why we lost. Its pretty common knowledge that the best way to beat the Pats is to keep Brady off the field. Going 3 and out while taking 15 seconds per play off the clock and giving it back to them we're just asking to lose.." here Tom try to score again" WTF All the penalties and turn overs were meaningless once we were up but yet we burned no clock in the 4th qtr....and with 5 minutes to go they can't stop to huddle up? burn some clock, figure out a play that might actually get a 1st down, give the D a couple more minutes to rest, etc etc etc.... The D was stout but running on fumes. That 3 and out with no huddle using 10-15 seconds between plays was as close to incompetence by a coaching staff as I can imagine. All that aside I feel good about the EJ and the D. Marrone & Hacket have me really worried though...should have seen quickly CJ was not making good decisions and Freddy was as usual....then their game management....ugh...I'll stop now. But I am more hopeful than in recent years and remain positive and will continue to pay DirectV too much money to follow my team. Go Bills!
