All Time Underappreciated Bills
please stop the pain replied to st. pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I always thought that for devastating hits there was no one better than Leonard Smith. Unfortunately he seemed to average around one of these per game out of bounds. Great hits; bad personal fouls. Did make some receivers somewhat twitchy though. -
What is Chad Kelly (Jim's nephew) hinting at?

Sooner or later he is going to have to throw the ball, or the entire play-action concept is going to fall apart.
-
no kidding. that has to rankle somewhat. Hopefully the Bills will reward him. He has been one of the few bright spots over the past couple seasons. Still hoping spiller turns out to be incredible, but meanwhile freddie is

So far, spiller is NOT doing particularly well. He has not been finding the holes and struggles moving forward following contact. The idea that we should compare him to other backs as equal after we remove their longer runs is frankly moronic. He appears to me to be hesitant and spends more time dancing than committing to the run. I was giving up all hope when he did produce the TD run. Gave me hope. Way too early to identify as a bust, but seriously what has he shown so far? He did average 4.5 in the preseason..... I really don't think Freddie loses any sleep hearing footsteps

The cost cutting reason
please stop the pain replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Does anyone seriously believe that Ralph Wilson is trying to lower the overall payroll so it is easier to sell the team when he dies? For me, I cannot imagine anyone really wanting to go out a loser. Perhaps he also has plans to screw up all his other business interests and wind up homeless? Is this a pattern someone has noticed in his other business holdings?? Sounds more like WGR negative crap to me. Baseless speculation. Ralph is old and the team has sucked for way too long. Correlation does NOT indicate causality. Really hard to read some of this crap sometimes. Makes me wonder about correlation between posts, IQ, level of intoxication, and overall number of conspiracy theories people accept as fact(there is no evidence, therefore it must be true!). -
Wow. Lots of effort here. Hope they sign a CBA soon, or I will begin to pursue conspiracy theories. Who knows what will happen. By the way, all the worry people have about Ralph W and the Bills... I get a bit weirded out when people get upset that Ralph hasn't sold the team cause he's gonna die soon. Seriously? If you owned the team would you really sell it just because you are getting old. Hey, I'd want to win a championship while I still own the team. Imagine how it would feel to sell the team and thenhave them win. I will be completely bummed if the Bills leave Buffalo, but I have no hope of control here. Will there even be a season this year, or has the collective greed of the owners and players finally signed the death warrant of the NFL. What other organization out there seriously expects such an ongoing increase in revenue every year in this economy. Does anyone really believe that New York State can really afford to pay for a new stadium with the deficit we have.... wow random rant

Kiss the #1 pick Good Bye
please stop the pain replied to coldstorage5's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Winning attitude first. Don't hope to lose and expect some new kid to come in and change the program around. Change the atmosphere, fight for everything and keep building. Not all the best players start by being the first pick in the friggin' draft. If I recall properly, the superbowl has been won by many different teams in recent years. Not all those quarterbacks were #1 picks. Teams had the right attitude though.. -
Maybin Vs J.Scott
please stop the pain replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I cannot believe i am saying this....You would recommend Maybin replace Kelsay at defensive end?? Kelsay reeks as a linebacker, but has been so much more effective these last 2 weeks lined up as DE. I'd say keep Kelsay there -
I noticed while listening to the game on 1180 WHAM that they were playing random music during breaks in play. Odd until I realized they were covering what should have been commercial spots. You would think during a blackout week a radio station would be able to sell spots knowing an increased number of listeners would be tuning in... I guess not with the product the Bills are putting out.

Opinions on Cam Heyward (OSU DE)
please stop the pain replied to ohiotim's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah. I think I said that last year too. Way too early to worry about the draft although everytime I watch a college game I'm thinkin' whichever player is dominating would look good in a Bills uniform. (so far mostly running backs - thank god I don't draft for the bills -

The bills have one hell of a lot of needs and not enough picks to get everything they need. They will have high picks in each round, but will really have to score big in every round to make a difference. Won't grabbing free agents be tough next year with the cap issues?? No cap would make it difficult to propose a contract to a player that won't screw the team if a cap is re-established. O line, d line, LB and QB. What order? Dunno. Young qb needs protection, strong running game to help him. This means o-line help. Needs defense that can stop the run so he has time to use the run game to win games - not forcing the qb to throw (carry the team on his arm). Need d-linemen. Defense also needs to hit opposing quarterback often to disrupt the passing game and keep the score low enough to help take pressure off our Offense. Need Linebackers. Its gonna need to be one hell of a draft. -
Don't Draft a QB!!!
please stop the pain replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree with addressing the O and D lines. Fitz or Brohm would probably do OK behind a strong line especially considering the running backs we will have: Jackson, Spiller and Bell to start. I'd recommend starting with their strengths; there have been many successful teams that are run-first oriented and only had middle of road talent at QB. Giants a few years ago. Strong D as well. Just thinking if the plan is to re-build, which if any of the linebackers would you keep? Other than rookies who haven't had enough time to be judged I wouldn't keep any based on performance against the run this year. Can't say they have done anything to put pressure on QB either. So 4 more draft choices needed here. Hope we get plenty for first pick... -
If someone had told me prior to the start of the season that Trent would be given a chance to prove himself; then cut after 3 wks I would have denied the likelihood. Now that it has happened and another former starter has also been waived, I have begun to wonder what is next. I cannot recall another team that has used a season to evaluate players and make a lot of cuts. Is the next step to begin trolling other teams practice squads for 'diamonds' and give them an in-season tryout? If you are going to have a losing season already, this approach could have some benefits. This could be a novel approach to rebuilding with many possible negatives (chaos), but with so many needs to be filled could this give the Bills a jump-start on the process. Purely speculation of course. Who would be cut next to give someone new a tryout? Maybin perhaps? Don't like your kick returner, 3rd string reciever or linebacker? Cut them and give some practice squad guy the chance to make an impact.

Hey, Scott Norwood went to James Madison. Not sure if I have a point here.

Andrew Luck

INTANGIBLES---Seriously?? Why is it that lately everyone has begun listing "intangibles" when comparing players? Can someone actually have better intangibles than someone else?? Would anyone care to rank someone's "intangibles" on a scale of 1-10. By definition these could be negative as well as positive undefinable or non-quantifiable characteristics. Sorry for the rant, but this is starting to drive me crazy. Or perhaps it is a symptom of my previously existing crazy. I mean really, I'm not overtly psychotic (having learned to hide the really cool thoughts I have - or hear in your heads)but people often walk away thinking 'that boy is not quite right, we should hide the car keys, and the chain saw and the knives...yeah, the knives.... you really can't put your finger on it, but there seems to be something off here...(wait for it) yeah its INTANGIBLE -
HOLY INTERCEPTIONS! BILLS KEEP 10 DBs???
please stop the pain replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DB is really the Bills 2nd strongest position after RB. Believe me these guys are gonna get a lot of work this year. Maybe plan is to rotate them a lot??? You gotta figure this group is going to make the most tackles as the D-line and linebackers both look weak. No penetration means lots of time for the opposing QB to pass downfield. So far it doesn't look like the Bills can stop the run near the line either. I think that the Bills NEED to lead the league in interceptions. If they can manage to get turnovers to keep the D off the field...returns to get good field position....give the running backs lots of opprutunities..????? Perhaps Chan's overall plan is to use these 2 team strengths to win games?? Probably crazy. I would have had more hope for receivers if easley hadn't been hurt and more hope for LB corps if I didn't think Brian Scott wasn't better than several of them. Can the Bills win games based on the running game and its defensive backs? -
Bills should claim Max Jean-Gilles
please stop the pain replied to Maddog69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we sign a new tackle, who else gets cut??? Who gets cut when Nelson comes off suspension?? There seem to be a lot of positions that are depending on rookies including undrafted rookies for backup. Overall I would say the O-line looks kinda weak overall. Good points about recency of surgeries and lack of depth and experience. Here's hoping we are looking at "good enough". -

Love your avatar. Still giggling -
Yep, first person who popped into my head too. I was unproductive (no suprise as I'm at work) thinking of anyone else who even compares. I do recall some announcers that I hate, but not their names. You know the morons who talk forever about someone they have some man-crush on and glorify everything they do all game; especially when the object of their affection is only having a moderately good game. I hate monkeys too. Clowns. Man yeah, clowns. Sometimes I meet people who irritate the crap out of me immediately and invariably end up being clowns as some kinda weird side thing. Crap learn to golf or something. poodles dressed up, particularly dressed up as clowns. I gotta find a new therapist.
