Eric Wood's Cap Hit
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a tricky situation, but there should be some kind of rule that wouldn't handicap teams for career ending injuries. What if Luck has to retire, or Rodgers, Big Ben? Would those huge salaries drag those teams into cap hell? Teams should have the money to replace a comparable player at that position. Not the same amount, but something like the league average for a starter goes back to cap relief for the team that loses the player, or a compensatory draft pick based on the loss like free agency. -
I was just reading that the Bills will take the 8.2 million cap hit in 2018 because of Wood's retirement. Retirement due to a career-ending injury should not be a cap hit. I think it is unfair that the league punish a team like this. The poor guy is not cleared to play, so why do we end up taking a hit? Is there any way the Bills can make a move like putting him on IR or medical leave or something so we do not take the hit?

I'll watch a little, but if the refs take over, I'm out. -

the only way to watch this is with the sound off. that said, he made some nice throws, but no higher than 3rd round QB -
This is an easy question. Watch a Patriots game. The blatant calls they get are so disgusting. The way the refs constantly give them PI calls to extend drives, penalize the opposition with holding calls and an assortment of drive stopping gems. Then if all else fails, they start with the damn catch rule and use it whatever way favors the Pats. It's so bias and disgusting, no wonder they are hated. The #fakenews video circulating about them is so true, but it's satire. This team is not the greatest, not invincible and not even ahead of all the other teams in the league. If officiated fairly, the Pats would be 10-6 this year and would not have made the SB. They probably would have achieved half of what they did. Still a good team, but not the dominating Gods the NFL has chosen to make them.

If the Bills get a veteran QB...........
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to njbuff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you trade up you better be 100% sure this is the long term solution and get him ready. We can add some great players who will be instant starters with picks #21,22 and possibly our 2nd and 3rd rounders. 5 potential starters trumps a project QB any day, but losing 2-4 starters for a franchise qb is a little easier to take. -
this is the difference of the Jags and Bills. When Lewis broke the tackle 2 Jags were there to stop that first. The Bills end up giving up the first after a missed or broken tackle. A few more solid defenders and we can have a D like that. Our secondary was good, it was the DL and LB's who need some improvement.

Damn did I call it on the f'kin money. my response from another thread. couldn't figure how to link, but tell me this **** isn't scripted. Pats can't win on merit. The refs will make a bunch of momentum changing calls as usual, hoping to derail Jags drives or prolong Pats drives. Then there is the one call that really helps the Pats and leads to points directly before the half or early third quarter. If the Pats take advantage, then it leads to a 2 score lead and eventually the Pats win. If they don't and the opposing team is in position to tie it or go ahead, then there is usually a holding call or some other momentum killer that gives the Pats the ball back. This is where the will of the opposing team usually breaks and the Pats march down the field with the aid of a PI, defensive holding or roughing the passer call. A crucial 3rd down is converted with the aid of this penalty and Brady marches it in. If for any reason the opposing team comes back again and somehow makes it close, then we get the crucial OMG WTF was that call that seals a Pats victory. It is so scripted, watching every Pats game is the same. An opposing team really has to totally outplay the Pats and the refs to win. I put the betting line at +10 (points affected by adding to Pats or subtracting from opponents) for each game. So you have to beat them by 2+ scores to win.
