  1. 3 OL, at least it's something. Are they waiting until after week one to work out Vets so they don't pay guaranteed contracts? Seems like Boone and Joeckel should be brought in. Someone posted a link to 15 Cuts that the Bills should be looking at. I couldn't find the thread or link, but remembered there were some interesting names on the list.
  2. Seems more like a Kay Stephenson level, although we have a better coach now. Early Chuck Knox, pre-Levy era talent.
  3. That's kind of where I'm at. I've gone through a **** ton of bad seasons with the Bills, but I'm always a die-hard and haven't missed a game in over 40 years. Maybe it's the political climate, the players attitudes, the money they get that they don't seem to appreciate, but the NFL as a whole is becoming more of a turn-off. I love the game of football, but the business of it has taken over and it's not the same as it used to be. I really enjoyed college football last weekend. It felt more pure and exciting. I think between my Fantasy teams and FanDuel bets, I'll get excited once the bullets start flying. And if the Bills actually show some guts and improvement and are competitive, it will be really easy to get excited. If the pre-season carries over, I'll still be watching, but with a little less enthusiasm and maybe watching the games on NFL Game pass that night and enjoying my Sundays again.
  4. We all love the Bills, we just hate and are tired of sucking. If you grew up in Buffalo, this team is in your bloodline and you can not and will not ever let go. But rooting for them is so hard sometimes when we are continual bottom feeders making horrible decisions for 50 years. That said, I think we finally have a mostly competent staff. Although some of this years off-season moves have not seemed to work as intended. If they win 7-9 games, this will be a banner year, because it will be a lot to build on with the cap space and draft of 2019. If we win 6 or less and are not competitive in at least 12 games, if we are less than 3-3 in our division, then this will be a big step backwards with a lot of ground to gain. Losing is hard to take and Bills fans have had their fill.
  5. McD is a stickler for effort. He expects it all the time. At practice, on the field. If it's a lack of effort, he would have been cut. He's just slow and acclimating to this defense. I hope the Pats CB we picked up is better.
  6. Mine are "A Chicken Wing and A Prayer," "Beasts of the East" and "Billsaholic"
  7. Exactly! Unfortunately, the price was too high giving up 2 1sts.
  8. Agreed on all points above. It's pretty obvious what his strengths are. Hopefully we move the ball and the O-line holds up. He's Fitzpatrick Pennington Edwards but should have a long career as a backup/spot starter.
  9. He will, but they are giving him time to pick up the nuances of the offense and adjust to the speed of the game. The only starter of the five 1st rounders is Darnold. Lets see how he fares when the bullets fly next week.
  10. sure it does. You can trade for a great player who is taking up cap space that another team can't assume or doesn't want to commit too. FA isn't the only route.
  11. Dallas is 2nd with 26m in dead cap. We are 2x as bad as the next worst team. That's kind of sad.
  12. Strange... If we let Ducasse and Bodine walk. I wonder who would have taken a flier on them?
  13. How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie-pop... 1... 2.... the world may never know... Hopefully "Tootsie Pop" Foster stays in bounds, catches everything in sight and continues to get separation on deep routes... Marquise Goodwin clone.
  14. We could have had Mack over Sammy ?
  15. Put in claims and calls to all, see who falls to us or wants to come here. Pick up at least 1G to replace Ducasse. 1 T to replace McDermott. Then Pully in, Bodine out. Groy would have to start at C for the first few weeks while they learn the playbook. Nobody is going to come in and make line calls cold off the street.
  16. I agree, but we have to factor in TTs rushing yards and defenses taking in his ability to do this. AJ did a decent job against scrubs. Allen has shown he can be mobile in the pocket and aware enough to take yards when needed. Peterman has not done as well as a runner, but he gets the ball out quicker. For some reason the O-line moves forward better... In the run game, they get leverage and can move people out of the way to create running lanes. It's the back step of pass protection that throws them all off balance. I don't know if it is scheme or coaching but these guys can not handle a stunt, a blitz or a straight up bull rush in the pass game. They get turned around or moved into a weaker position where they have no leverage to handle their opponent. Now if indeed, we have not seen the true offense yet, then I am happy. I would expect to see a lot more 2 TE sets with Croom and Thomas rotating in like a 3rd WR but able to chip in on blocking and get separation for short routes using their height to their advantage, creating mismatches while Clay runs the middle of the field or Lee stays in to help block and be a dump off giving us a shot at a deep ball. Both Peterman and Allen have shown that they can consistently work these throws to the middle. Allen is particularly good in tight windows getting the ball to a receiver fast, where Peterman is quicker with the release. This type of offense if used properly should move the chains. Red Zone work will be paramount here or there will be a lot of FG's and we will be playing a field position game hoping our defense doesn't give up big plays. This kind of offensive scheme could help defenses back off a little and open up the run game. The key to this (believe it or not) may be Logan Thomas. As we heard, he is very adapt at recognizing defenses and making adjustments on the fly. As much as we loved O'Leary, he is not that guy. With Thomas helping TE's understanding who to pick up, the extra .5-1 sec can make a huge difference in the pass game, especially if that TE is blocking then releasing into a route as a 2nd or 3rd option. When the QB's really grasp making 2-3 reads quickly and getting the ball out accurately, this offense can do damage. I think this season, it is all on the TE's to make or break the scheme by helping the O-line and making contested catches. We've already seen Lee become more of a weapon. When all 4 TE's can do this consistently and block, the mismatches will open up the field for everyone else. I think we will see Logan on the field more and his influence rub off on Croom and Lee. Hopefully Clay stays healthy and becomes a big contributor.
  17. those high level meetings must not be paying off.
  18. Yup we kept Foster over Coleman, Holmes over Streater. I'm ok with TE. Logan T is almost like an extra coach and he is helping everyone improve. We made a few head scratching decisions this off-season. I hope we do not implode. We need to make a few moves this week.
  19. Yeah, I've settled on the fact that this is the reason. They must think he's coachable and can correct his route running. Coleman got his money and checked out. He probably didn't study the playbook and thought he'd get by on speed. Foster has a relationship and trust with the OC. That was probably the difference. I fully expect that 6th spot is a bubble spot and the Bills will keep looking for WR's, OL, LB, DE and possibly 3rd QB for PS. The next few days should be interesting.
  20. The lack of being able to execute basic fundamental football in the pre-season is worrisome. The O-Line will have to be maulers run blocking and we will need a 3 headed monster of Shady, Ivory and Murphy wearing teams down. If we can establish this with a mix of screens, quick passes over the middle and the occasional deep ball to keep teams honest then putting up 20 points per game is not out of the question, though I think we will avg. 17 Defense is where we need to dominate to win. From what I've seen we are soft in the middle and have no pass rush. If we can run enough blitzes without getting picked apart and can win the turnover battle, then there's a chance to hold teams under 20. Field position and special teams will have to be rock solid. With a few big plays and solid kicking, it may win us a game or 2. This is the difference between a 5-6 win team and a 8-9 win team. I don't see us going higher or lower with the early tough road schedule and talent-lacking roster. Prediction 7-9
  21. I'm sure AJ is feeling just fine. My wife looked like that in her 30's too. She's still got it.
