Charles Clay - back in 2019?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Clay hasn't done sh^t since he signed that contract. Waste of cap space and time to find a real TE. -
You look at QB's every year. This is the NFL - Not For Long league. Even if you think you have your franchises guy, you always need a solid #2. If you have him, then you are looking at developmental QB who could step in and play if necessary by year #2. With the cap the way it is, you need a solid QB on a rookie deal on your roster, especially if you are paying your franchise guy in his second contract. You also always need to be looking for that sleeper QB in rounds 4-6 who could be the next Cousins, Wilson, Brady. Remember the Skins drafted Cousins in the 4th after taking RG3 in the first. People thought they were crazy but look how it turned out.

If we sign Skinner long term. He and Eichel are a dynamic duo.

There is no way we will beat the Jaguars

Who would have thought last years playoff matchup would feature two 3-7 teams. I think Fournette is the difference. The Jags seem better on offense since he's been back. I'm just not sure how to read Allen. If his problems continue, we most likely lose. If he lights it up, we have a chance to win. -
Jags Game discussion - what say you?

Bortles is mobile, Fournette is back plus Hyde and Yeldon. Stop the run -- less than 150 yds on the ground and the Bills win providing that Allen does not turn the ball over more than two times. Hit a deep ball or two to keep the D honest and the Bills but up 24 BUF 24 JAX 16 -
McyD a coach of the year candidate?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
that has to be a joke. 5-11 or 6-10 is not going to win any award. -
Is this a playoff team with Tyrod?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Close but no cigar. I think TT gets us to 8-8 or 9-7 again, on the edge. That's his ceiling and why Baker already took the reigns in CLE. We needed to move on and although it is painful with Allen and worse with the others, we needed to take a chance on a real franchise QB. -
WHY is Allen really starting?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He had a rough senior year at USC. At the end of his junior year, he was considered top 10, but he lost a few pieces on offense and his arm was exposed a bit at the combine. Still he has the tools to be a solid QB, and as we saw from the mental standpoint- he picked up the offense quick, made quick decisions and was fairly accurate with his throws. -
So so article, but you are right in Castillo needs to go. I loved Kromer, he was a tough SOB and a good coach. The line stepped up for him and he got the best out of our talent. He's missed. I just hope they can find a replacement, get another top RB steal in ads 3-4 and step up the offense. Then we will sniff the playoffs again.

I'm ok with Croom for now, because we'd be short on depth if he and Clay were to depart. He's show flashes on the field and must have shown a few in the bedroom to stick around. Pegs must like him, he's actually a Peterman, just this one actually uses his Peter for a roster spot. -
WHY is Allen really starting?

Not entirely true. Barkley is only 28, was viewed as a potential top 10 pick. If Allen is not ready, Barkley gives them the best chance to win now and maybe next year if Allen does not pan out. Barkley can sign a team friendly backup deal for 3-4 yrs at 5-8m a year. If he beats out Allen, then we have stability while we look for the next franchise guy. If Allen wins, we have a solid backup under team control until the end of Allen's rookie deal. Win/Win -
Here's what I love about this move. With Foster on the field, a team is going to shift some coverage expecting it's a deep ball or decoy for a run. Add Thompson and/or McKenzie suddenly it creates mismatches as teams try to cover 2-3 speedsters. Zay gets open looks and room in the middle of the field and Shady or Murphy have the flats as a dump off. Add Croom as the catch radius guy in the middle taking KB's spot and suddenly the defenses have to respect the pass. With Pryor on the field these mismatches weren't as strong and there were not multiple options to go deep. As we saw last week, this really opened up the run for Shady and Murphy. Throw Ivory back in the mix and competent QB play completely turns this offense around. We saw that Daboll schemed well once he had mismatches to exploit and a QB to make the throws. If Allen can step up or Barkley can keep it up, this offense could be a lot more entertaining the next six games. We have the extra week to rev this up and make it work.

Derek Anderson Good for Josh Allen?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to Miracle Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's pretty well known in Carolina and from Beane's and McDermott;s statements that Anderson played a role in helping Cam develop. Cam also mentioned and credited Anderson for helping him adjust to the pro game. -
Derek Anderson Good for Josh Allen?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to Miracle Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, its not. Coaching is about having the ability to bring out the best in someone. Guys like Anderson may never be great QB's but they are instrumental in helping the coaches because they have been in the trenches doing the work. Take Jordan Palmer, he was never a great QB but he is widely viewed around the NFL as being one of the best in developing and preparing QB's for the pros. Anderson fits this role, because he can see Josh objectively from inside the pocket, where others are working with him on the outside (developing game plans, plays, etc..) Anderson is not a threat to take Josh's job and he knows his place. He's been around 15 years for a reason. He brings something to the table outside his ability to play. -
They took a swipe at mcKenzie earlier, but the Broncos called him to the active roster. When DEN demoted him again, the Bills swept in. Thompson just got released, Barkley just got healthy. Foster has been on the PS and finally got his game right, so they called him up. Pryor was brought in as soon as he was free. The Bills have been active for awhile, but I think it took Barkley to make them realize that the game plan could work with an NFL caliber QB.

Offensive Line Continuity
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to Flip Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm ok with a G or C or RT in Rd1-2, but I'd also like to see a really good WR. If we sign some FA OL to 4-5 year deals that may also help. But no more Newhouse/Bodine types. -
Is our offensive roster good now?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We need in order: WR1 (Rd 1) RG and C (Rd 2) TE1 (Rd 2 or 3) RB1 (Rd2-4) C or RG (whichever not addressed before) Draft either OLB or CB if we can't get a top one signed in FA. FA OLB EDGE/DE (pass rusher) DT CB This changes if Allen doesn't show promise. Then it's Barkley time and an FA Vet with another QB in Rds 3-4 to develop. -

Spiked Kool aid is the best kind. Did you use Bacardi 151 or some of that good ole' fashioned moonshine -
McKenzie earned his roster spot on Sunday. He was great at returns and did a nice job on the sweeps.

Is No. 1 Ranking Legit or a Mirage?
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Overrated for now. Top 10, sure, but there lots of points given up, lots of 3rd down conversions, not a lot of turnovers or sacks. It's a solid but not elite defense. Let's see how things shape up if we field a competent chain moving offense. -
Looks good. The biggest mistake this regime made was the handling of the QB situation and loyalty to Peterman. They never brought in anyone good enough to compete and wasted time with the NP/AJ fiasco, which cost them 2-3 wins this year. The good thing is that this seems to be corrected and Peterman is finally off the roster (for now) I don't care if he stays on the practice squad but Barkley should be the #1 or #2 for the foreseeable future with either another vet as the #3 or a development guy
