Zay Jones & Robert Foster - Advanced Metrics
1st Ammendment NoMas replied to DCOrange's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Foster has grown on me over the course of the year. He's a Buffalo "blue collar" kind of guy and he's good for the team and the city. He could be the kind of role model every team wants and hopefully his production will continue to rise. He has gotten separation at this level and it's important. Now once the rest of his game comes along, I think he could be a great #2 or #3 and get 45-50+ REC, 700+ YDS and 6-8 TD's annually. Hopefully more. Zay could be a #2 possession type receiver and/or #3 slot guy working the inside of the field. I don't see him as the stretcher that Foster is. I think all we really need is the #1 WR. The contest catch machine who makes big plays, can stretch the field and draws double coverage so others can make plays. Neither Zay or Foster are the mismatch creators. My goal would be get that #1, shore up the line with 3 new bodies, get a real threat at TE, and find a new bell cow #1 RB. That's a big order for one off-season but I feel we don't need 2-3 new WR with the emergence of these 2 and McKenzie as a #4 and special teamer. -

If 8-8 is lofty then Pegulas are screwed. -

As much as I want to lynch the FO for this dreary season and the boatload of mistakes, this year was the mulligan and they knew it. I expect a 10-6 or better playoff season next year. That doesn't happen or at the least 8-8 with tons of upside then we can ride them out of town to live with the Ryan twins in Canada. -

Start with Brady, then Gronk, then Michel, then Gilmore. -
Has a WR made a great catch this season????

together sure. They each have one "tough" catch per game. Sometimes 2. OBJ, Antonio Brown, AJ Green usually have 1 a week. It's that catch that our receivers don't make to keep the chains moving. Then there's the right in your damn hands Clay type drops that kill drives, along with stupid penalties by our OL. Top receivers rarely drop the easy ones that hit them in the hands with no one around. We seem to have 3-4 of these per game. Give Josh 5-7 more completions per game on catchable passes and his numbers look way better. I bet that keeps momentum going, instills confidence and puts 7-14 more points on the board per game. Our WR are a MAJOR problem along with the OL. -

you said it, tough- not great. Every #1 WR in the league should make that catch. Theilen and Diggs do it 2-3 times per week. -

I see your comments and raise you a big "no". The aforementioned catches were good, but not consistent. Every receiver can have a moment. I had mine back in the day. But there was a reason I did not go pro or even to a D1 college program. Consistent great catches, the ability to get separation at the next level. The ability to put a game on my shoulders with a "just get the ball to me" mentality. Cooper is flashing what a true #1 does to an offense. How a great WR can change a game. And his team didn't want him. Not one of our receivers can even be a solid #2 on any other NFL team. We've got some borderline #3's, mostly #4's and guys that would not even be on another roster. Yeah McKenzie, Foster and Zay are showing a little progress, but someone has to be the recipient. We need help at WR and none of these guys is a viable #1 WR. -
Target the Offensive line in 2019

Agreed on OL but I want 2 experienced starter FA's who are on the rise and have played at a high level. 2 High draft picks in Rds 1-5 and then fill with UDFA, low level FA with high upside, maybe someone coming off injury that we can take a chance on and not be hurt. But WR with our first pick. We need a true #1 who can grow with Allen. #2 OL #3 RB #4 TE #5 OL, #6CB -
I think it's more that he didn't take the chances he took to run in the first half. He tried to win with his arm, but received no help. Yes the Jets put a faster guy on him, but Daboll devised no set bootlegs, RPO's or runs for Allen in the second half. We had no run game and the OL was terrible. Josh needed to run more and he didn't.
