  1. He sure would be more attractive because he's about 8 years younger, has proven he isn't a bust and the sky is the limit. Problem is we would then need to spend yet ANOTHER first round pick to replace the aging Fred Jackson. You do realize there isn't much more mileage left in him trying to carry the load all by himself right?
  2. I love Fred. It won't happen. If there were a trade partner out there that would trade anything for a 31 year old RB even if he was having the best season of his life you pretty much have to take it. If Gailey has half a brain Fred and CJ should be splitting carries next season and we should utilize our RBs much more in the offensive game plan whether it be rushing the ball or throwing it too them....but....a first round pick is a first round pick. Nobody gives those up for RBs.
  3. The QB stuff REALLY gets tired. People apparently have different opinions on what a franchise QB is. To some there are only about 5 franchise QBs in the league. To others a franchise QB is a QB that is effective in your teams system when there is an actual team around them not a revolving door of crap at WR. Perhaps if we had WRs that were higher than #6 on the depth chart, were actual WRs not wild cat QBs or guys driving trucks or bagging groceries before getting called up to the bigs Fitz would have continued his stellar start to the year. If Fitz is a backup QB in this league then there are only 10 - 12 guys in the league that are starters. People need to wake up and get a clue. When the team was healthy Fitz was quite literally and statistically a top 5 QB for about 6 weeks. What changed? WR dropping like flies, your aforementioned crap we have at LT, lack of a defense that kept us in games so that we didn't become a one dimensional pass happy offense, etc. People see sports center and think no team will ever be anything without Rogers, Brady and Brees. That's BS. There are only 3 of those guys in the league. Look at who those guys are throwing the ball too and the lines protecting them. Then think how they would do as a Buffalo Bill. That should give you some perspective. As far as CB we have already restocked the position. Get us a pass rusher or 2 and our CBs will suddenly look a LOT better.
  4. Anyone who is not CLEARLY the 1st or 2nd best in the draft at a position of need. IMO the only positions of need worth consideration in the first round for OUR team that is already 2 years into it's rebuilding process are: Pass Rusher (DE or OLB) LT WR Out of that group you take whichever guy will be a day 1 starter for your team. Spending a first round draft pick on a development guy or someone to challenge at a position you personally don't think we are good enough at is a waste of time, talent and retards the rebuilding process.
  5. I didn't want to believe it myself but knew that Lynch was going to be moved off the team. Although never being found guilty of anything or serving jail time the conservative western NY fans turned into a pitch fork and torch wielding mob trying to run him out of town. Freddy was 29 to start the 2009 season and that is a lot of eggs to put in one basket for the FUTURE of your franchise. I think the front office DID know Fred was that good and that the fans had tired of Lynch. Despite Spiller so far proving everyone COMPLETELY wrong since he was thrust into a starting role due to Fred's injury people keep calling him a luxury pick but have to eat crow on the "bust" label. If you accept that Lynch was getting traded and knew how old Fred was at the time the "luxury pick" label couldn't be any farther from the truth. Spiller, a young RB with rare quickness, flat out speed and pass catching ability, was a huge need. That being said I would have been just fine with keeping Lynch AND Jackson and using the Spiller pick on a defender but the fans had already made that choice. Lynch had to go! It got so bad for Lynch that people started embellishing and making things up like stealing $20 from a cops wife at TGI Fridays or something. Good job fans! We played a role in the Spiller pick because we made a new young RB a necessity after the front office determined that Lynch's days were numbered.
  6. Nobody wants to get rid of Stevie and I think it is a perception issue. It's when some of the drops occur like when he is wide open with nobody around him and a line to the endzone or all alone in the corner of the endzone. It's not many but it has likely impacted the perception. I am glad he is on the team and want to keep him here. It's the same guff that Fitz gets with a line that can't afford him anywhere near 3 seconds consistently, losing perhaps the best RB in the league in week 11 and having a rotating cast of truck drivers and grocery baggers every week due to injuries. People like to look at things in a vacuum and B word.
  7. I have high hopes as well but realistically look at our plan that we have implemented. Late round picks and UFAs. I'm not saying that to be negative but I think that is just our general strategy. That being said we have gone against it before where we give retreads and people looking to get their career back on track. We did get Owens. We did get Lofton way back in the day. We did get peerless price back even though he didn't pan out.
  8. Nobody ever wants to listen about Jason Campbell. For his entire career he has basically had a new OC every year. His numbers are just fine but everybody dogs him. I wanted us to bring Campbell to Buffalo when the Trent Deadwards travesty was still in progress. Everybody said how terrible he is etc. The guy is just fine at QB. He's not a guy you want to MAKE your team but he can be a good QB ON your team. Kind of like Fitz. Don't expect him to BE the team but he is good enough to be the starter ON the team.
  9. Man you bring up a great point. The defense really hasn't been effective since we lost Schobel. He was our only real outside pass rusher. Nix even said it himself the whole defense should get better with an improved pass rush and if you give an NFL QB that much time "they will wear you out". That being said don't reach for a pass rusher. As someone else said BPA. If that happens to be one of the top 2 LTs because the premier pass rushers are off the board then get an LT. It's a position of need. Good teams have a guy they know is THE guy at LT not a bunch of fodder that they rotate in and out waiting for projects and experiments to pan out.
  10. A half second plus of time is a lifetime to an NFL QB. It can be the difference between incompletions and completions. It can be the difference between hurried "gun slung" balls and crisp rhythm passes. It can be the difference between a clean pocket and numerous QB hits. Little known facts!!!! 1a) Fitzpatrick was the second fastest QB in the league getting rid of the ball 1b) The Bills were 2nd WORST in the league with their QB taking 3.1 hits for every one of their 23 sacks 2a) Hasselbach was the fastest QB in the league getting rid of the ball 2b) The Titans were THE worst team in the league with their QB taking just over 3.1 hits for every one of their 24 sacks What might we infer from this? The QBs in the league that get rid of the ball the fastest take the fewest sacks. Some are actually just barely getting the ball away before being sacked as some are the most frequently "hit" QBs per sack given up. This doesn't even take into consideration "hurries" which I haven't found stats for. I agree that pass rush is our biggest problem but I would be just fine if one of the 2 best LTs fell to us and a premier day 1 starter at DE or OLB isn't there. Get your education on! There ya go! An informed football opinion based upon the team as a whole not looking at LT and the QB in vacuums.
  11. You answer your own questions here almost. Your statement that offensive coordinators can account for an aggressive pass rush is SPOT on but you were focusing on the wrong team! It is the BILLS whose offensive coordinator(Gailey)/scheme accounts for an aggressive pass rush. Fitz was the second fastest QB in the league getting rid of the ball quickly because our line can't hold up. We need a LT so that our QB actually has time to chose between a few options and go through his progressions instead of making the best guess based on pre-snap reads and letting it fly. That being said pass rushers are a BIGGER need but if the right LT falls to us at #10 and there isn't a pass rusher that isn't considered a reach I would be ecstatic if we got an LT.
  12. I agree but I contend that Gailey uses the pass to set up the pass. We have two VERY productive RBs and we don't take advantage of that. For some reason Gailey kept Spiller on the bench when it was show he was very much ready to play. Not only did he play but he excelled and in some statistical categories was better than Jackson. I'm not taking anything away from Jackson when I say this but: Fred Jackson 209 touches, 6 TDs CJ SPiller 146 touches, 6 TDs I'm not stating this to dis Fred but how do you not use a guy that scores more points per touch than the starter. How does he not get at least 12 touches a game when Fred is healthy? Last 3rd of the season why would we take our TD machine out of games around the goal line and short yardage situations and use Tashard Choice? Why would we throw the ball so much with both of those weapons at our disposal?
  13. Oh GOOD call. I'm still going with the obvious answer and I believe the only pro bowler on the team Peters but Pat Williams is a really close second. In all seriousness have we been able to stop the run since he left?
  14. BWhhaHAHahAHahaHAahAHahAHaHA....DUDE that was so funny I spit out my drink. Lock up a LT made of china who hasn't been able to stay healthy or hold of a 4th round pick rookie?
  15. We DEFINITELY need a WR but I would say get one in free agency. There will be a few good #1 or #2 WRs that could be had if we actually wanted them. I sometimes think CB but given that we have perhaps the worst pass rush in the league those guys have a REALLY tough job. Improving the pass rush should indirectly give us an upgrade at CB.
  16. Do you even watch the games? Spiller has PLENTY of 3 - 8 yard runs. You make it seem like he is some weak ineffectively little scat back that basically sucks 90% of the time if not for breaking a big run here and there. Spiller is a solid back and produces down after down. Any negative yardage plays he takes now are not due to running backward of sideways but usually being tackled immediately after the hand off indicating a blown blocking assignment. Boo sir! You have attempted to greatly misrepresented his production to support your weak argument. Refreshing! Someone that can look at it with open eyes and not the I'm a whiny ex-girlfriend I hate Peters bias. These Madden NFL GMs need to go. Were people worried that Ralph might go broke if we paid the guy what he was worth? I just don't get it. The lame and I mean LAME sour grapes excuses are funny though. They used to piss me off now I just laugh. For everyone still trying to open peoples eyes about the Peters issue being Buffalo's front office's problem there is someone beating the dead horse of lame excuses for why they think a perennial probowler wasn't worth market value eh Promo????...Keep up the fight!...LOL
  17. Don't go and bring reality and logic into this! How will people be able to continue to believe it was Peters fault he left if you keep dispelling these illusions?
  18. Great point K-9. You can line up in a spread formation but still focus on the running game more. The spread is a formation nothing more. You can decide to run or pass from it.
  19. Right on man. When a team that is devoid of talent lets what little they have go because they won't pay fair market value it shows they don't want to win. I don't get how people are pissed at Peters because old money bags wouldn't pay him and he was justifiably insulted. Were they worried Ralph might go broke being under the cap as we always are? Yes we are well under the cap and in actuality are lower than we appear due to some financial trickery that will soon be eliminated when certain provisions the new CBA go into effect.
  20. Non compete clauses only come into effect when you are taking a job that may "compete" with the company that hired you. It doesn't mean you can't take ANY job. Just very specific ones with very specific competitors. It's apples and pork chops anyway. Non compete is really not a good example or analogous situation.
  21. Nobody is Barry Sanders but they are both REALLY good. I'll give you that our line is definitely better at run blocking than it is at pass blocking. Not that any of our statements have anything to do with how good Peters is and why we were fools to let him go. We could have made a homemade super star a hero not a villain if we had done right by him.
  22. I don't look at it as caving. I look at it as paying a guy what he is worth. Nobody seems to recall he signed that contract as a RT. He was then promoted to LT and started making probowls. He should have been pissed about being promoted and not getting a pay raise. Bell sucks and has nothing to do with Peters. Wood could have easily been drafted with our other first round pick that we used on Maybin. Technically I don't even consider the two linked despite the obvious. Not sure what relevance this statement has at all. Peters is a perennial probowler. Useless statement. No individual player including QBs don't win games. Teams win games. Teams win games by having great talent at as many positions as they can and coaching them well. LT being one of the more important positions helps the success of the team. That is so unbelievable simple I hope you understand it. It's not pining it rubbing it in the face of all the whiny bills fans who were oh so worried about Peters taking more of Ralph's money. We have the fewest sacks in the league because we were the second fastest team at getting rid of the ball. I'm sure you can see how the QB can't be sacked if he doesn't have the ball right? So...in short Peters had a huge impact on his team protecting Vick's left side on an island without constant TE double teams and RB chip block help. LT is an extremely important position and trying to devalue it by comparing it to QB which is THE most important is laughable. Peters is ELITE. We should have paid him. We didn't...get over it. Stop making excuses for our front office screwing up and move on.
  23. Well we would still probably be ranked #1 in sacks specifically but Fitz would have 3+ seconds to throw not 2 or fewer? Nice try though providing stats in a vacuum without discussing all and the most important factors in how they were obtained. Fitz was ranked as second fasted QB in the league getting rid of the ball. I think that might have just a LITTLE bit to do with it eh?
  24. WRONG!!! What a loser attitude. We screwed up not Peters. Maybe you are a big enough wuss to get a promotion with twice the responsibility and continue to work at your old salary for 2 years but most people have balls and want to get paid when they get promoted. This is professional football. Any job other than professional sports you can leave your job tomorrow and go make 3 times your salary somewhere else if someone is willing to pay it to you and you are worth it. Because of contracts which owners can tear up and void at any moment a player's only recourse is to hold out. That's the nature of the game and the business. Quit acting like a little girl and whining about it. Buffalo's front office didn't handle things well. Peters was using the only strategy available to him other than working for relative peanuts for years. What a joke.
  25. Of course he made all pro. Despite what some of the whiny Bills fans say that acted like jilted ex girlfriends when he wanted to be paid like the elite LT he was and is he is a tremendous talent. They make up all kinds of sour grapes loser excuses like "he didn't want to be here", "he wasn't that good", "probowls are a popularity contest" "how many games did team 'X' win with him". Laughable! Morons. It's funny that the guy was making probowls on one of the most UNPOPULAR teams in the NFL, the Buffalo Bills. We took the time to develop a UFA TE into a probowl LT and then as usual instead of reaping the benefits for years to come we let talent leave the team and tried to get by on the cheap. I wish the guy all the luck in the world and instead place blame where it is deserved on Ralph for refusing to give the guy a pay raise when we was promoted from RT to LT. Every probowl that this guy CONTINUES to make makes his detractors in Buffalo look more and more wrong year after year. Despite his continued performance there will be whiny Buffalo fans that don't have the integrity to admit that the guy is good, REALLY GOOD and it was Ralph's fault he's not here! It's not like we were in danger of going over the cap or anything
