Brady admits to throwing the ball away
PDaDdy replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can do anything you want outside the tackles as long as the ball makes it past the line of scrimmage. Brady was inside the pocket albeit a collapsing one. -
Really? I tried looking that up. Do you have any information on that? If McShay IS Scouts Inc then it is not the source of independently evaluated talent that I thought it was.
-
Well it's actually based on the players ranking by scouts. Scouts Inc specifically. This isn't Kyper and McShay grading them who have actually had some successes to back up their speculation. Kyper in particular. So the concept of a reach is what it is. You can't make it go away because you want it to. Given that the draft is inherently risky teams usually try to go with the players that have the "better odds" of succeeding which they attempt to equate to some sort of draft stock rating. I get that you are in love with Upshaw. I wouldn't be upset at all if we took him at #10. What an AWESOME "consolation prize" he would be. I would still prefer Coples because I think he perfectly fits our needs and would be without question the highest ranked player on either side of the ball if he fell to us at #10 which he won't Upshaw also fits a huge need for us as well and was a teammate of Dareus which I think would bode well for the Bills.
-
Despite his detracters Coples appears to be EXACTLY what we need. I'm not a huge fan of moving up or even discussing it due to a realistic lack of trade partners. If we could however throw in one of our 2 or 3 extra picks this year to move up just ahead of the Dolphins and Panthers to say where the Jaguars sit at 7 I would not be pissed one bit.
-
Things will obviously shake up after the combine but right now Upshaw is listed as the 16th best player or something like that on espn.com. If the draft took place today they would say he fits a need but was a reach. I could be surprised but I don't think that anyone will be blown away by his measureables boosting his stock too much. He's a bit short with short arms. Hes nothing special in the speed department that I am aware of but he is a SOLIDLY built player. Measureables aren't everything but I would say that they are likely the largest contributing factors to post combine draft stock rises. There should be no question that we should at the very least be able to get Upshaw. That being said I would love for Coples to fall to us. I don't buy the "he played not to get hurt" and "inconsistent motor" BS. The guy is a beast! You can't teach that but you can motivate it. Let's not talk ourselves out of the next Orakpo like some of us did prior to the ?2009? draft. Of course nobody expected Maybin instead but just sayin.

Chris Brown SPECULATES Bills in play for V Jackson
PDaDdy replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way we should franchise SJ. Contract talks were in the $8 million range. If as another poster said the WR franchise tag is $13 that is ridiculous. We could sign him for 5 years at $9 million using the extra $5 million spread out over 5 years to get a deal done. I don't recall every single year but I don't think the Bills are one to franchise players. -
I would be inclined to think that we will likely find the WR in FA and get the pass rusher in the draft. Depening on if Nix gets snow jobbed by Merriman again or not he might not think DE is a need and be more inclined to get a OLB like Upshaw and get a DE to "develop" behind Merriman.
-
It think it is very possible and almost a sure thing that they would have lost more games along the way. Information is power. Bellicheat always seemed to be 1 or 2 steps ahead of the opposition. This would play into that belief. Your other two items I could speculate on but as you already know nobody can really put a number on them as we weren't privy to every little bit of stolen information and how they adjusted their game plans.

If Evans gets cut do you want him back
PDaDdy replied to ALLEN1QB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes for the right price. I would also like to see him used in a Wes Welker kind of role at times. Lee has all the tools to be able to do so and he is still a lot faster than Welker. Roscoe Parrish was excelling in that role this past season until he again ended on IR. Lee has more size and other than last year with the Ravens had been VERY durable and played pretty much every game. -
OK...This is just a wild hunch but given this teams history of drafting DBs in the first I bet we get a CB in the first. I would hate it but it is a very real possibility. Regardless of front office personnel and coaching the Bills have drafted a DB in the first round something like 30% - 40% of the time if memory serves. Even though we got Aaron Williams in the second round last year we are overdue. That being said maybe the switch back to a 4 - 3 will make McKelvin, another first round pick, feel more comfortable and at least be productive. Not talking shutdown. Just productive.

FJ and CJ: Utility or Futility?
PDaDdy replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was indeed talk of that. It never came to fruition though. Hopefully this year they really figure it out. Spiller played some WR this year and we know Fred can catch. Since we are so devoid of WR talent it might make some sense to have both guys in in the back field and have the option to motion either or both to the line of scrimmage for empty backfield sets. In the run game 2 backs would allow for misdirection but I don't know that either would really be good as a lead blocker for the other. Fred is definitely the better blocker of the two but using a 31 year old RB as a lead blocker might be too big a pill for Fred to swallow as well as pride issues. -
Oh spygate was a huge deal. People have blown it off and forgotten it now but their spying made a big difference in my opinion. When New England was winning super bowls though they had a better defense to go along with what was always a steady high scoring offense. You need both sides of the ball in abundance.

FJ and CJ: Utility or Futility?

Don't go using them smart college boy facts on them CJ Spiller haters. Don't you know he is a luxury pick bust that can't hold Fred's jock???? Idiots!!!! -
Surprised how little attention is paid to Fred here.
PDaDdy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hear ya man. It's all just typical bone headed forum talk. They can't call him a bust anymore. Some are still sticking to their BS he was a luxury pick statements despite the fact we were getting rid of Lynch and Fred was turning 31. They ignore the facts and stick to their guns. Nothing wrong with having a strong opinion if you know when to admit you are wrong. Not many here have the integrity of character to do so unfortunately. I've been wrong before on Losman, KW and probably others. I've admitted that freely. There would be a lot less useless BS on this forum if others could do the same. -

DUDE!...Wow. Forget the numbers right? I agree Fred is a better all around RB when it comes to things like experience and pass blocking but the guy is 31 and about 7 years older than Spiller. Seriously! Take a look at the numbers. CJ had almost exactly the same yards per carry as Fred. Had a respectable yards per catch close to Freddie and for the big one....HE SCORED MORE TDS PER TOUCH THAN FREDDIE!! Let's also just forget the fact that Spiller did this without the benefit of our best offensive lineman Eric Wood. Projected for a year Spiller gets around 1700 combined yards and 12+ TDs. Sitautional at best? I'll take that situation ALL DAY EVERY SUNDAY!!!! And that is if he doesn't improve one bit in what will be his 3rd year. How you can ignore that and say that Spiller is situational at best and Fred is the best is ridiculous! They are very close in this important thing called performance not opinion. People have to come to grips with the fact that Fred is 31 and still under contract. MAN. If Jason Peters had this kind of support we would still have the perennial probolwer on our team. -

PDaDdy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Uh SJ is young. Fred is very old for a RB. There is no question which one you keep if it comes down to keeping one of them. That being said we should be able to keep both. -
Some interesting Super Bowl Tidbits
PDaDdy replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They mention favoritism because it exists. Funny how elite, short throw Brady looks when he has a real defense in his face and they aren't playing with a 20 point lead by the 3rd quarter. -
Surprised how little attention is paid to Fred here.
PDaDdy replied to Jim in Anchorage's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
People are too busy whining that our QB isn't the best ever. Fred is a dead issue. I'm pretty sure and I truly hope he is retained but the guy is going to be 31 and coming off a broken leg. He is also still under contract. Sadly football is a business and he shouldn't expect a big pay day unless he takes the Jason Peters route. If he did that you would hate him anyway. -
So he came in at a HUGE 281lbs instead of his listed weight of 285lb? How is that even the slightest bit relevant? That speculation is baseless. Let's not miss out on the next Orakpo because we're too busy trying to find fault with everyone's consensus top guy on defense.
-
I have heard this as the only supposed blemish some he said she said stuff about his drive and desire. Obviously not a problem with his production and every single talent evaluator during the senior bowl process said he was the best out there. Did you know that his last year he was moved to DT? He was playing out of position due to someone else's suspensions or injury. Don't disregard his obvious talent and ridiculous size because of rumor mongering. I hope we are lucky enough to get this guy. If not Upshaw would be a great consolation prize.
-
THIS HAS NEVER BEEN BROUGHT UP BEFORE! Can we create one consolidated post for the whiners? Seriously. It's tired. Did you bother to take a look at how good those defenses were that won? Did you bother to see how they played in the playoffs and how they compared to the oppositions defense? Which elite QB should we get? What? Nothing? Thought so! Go cry in your cereal.
-
But but but ....we need a messiah savior that will somehow turn a team with one of the worst defenses in the league and a dearth of talent at WR into an immediate super bowl contender. Don't you realize all is lost? We should just take a QB with every pick for the next 10 years hoping to hit the lottery. We can worry about building an actual team then. By the time we get that team built the QB will be dead or have his confidence and career ruined. ROFLOL!!!!!!!
-
I don't understand the hate for Coples. The guy is a monster and was the best player on defense and throughout the whole senior bowl process and practices. We would be lucky as hell if he actually fell to us at 10 but people seem like he somehow isn't an option. My worst fear is that he goes to the Dolphins at #9 and he beats up our late round and UFA tackles for the next 10 years.
