  1. Way to put a negative spin on a tough guy who played through injury. Even while hurt he was by far the best option on the team. By the way, when did QBs start playing every position on the field? Football is a team sport last I checked and TEAMS win and lose games. I suppose Fitz gave up all those yards on the ground and in the air on defense and was also responsible for not sacking the opposing QB. LOL
  2. Couldn't agree more. Mercilus, if I am not mistaken, is a one year wonder. Nix and Gailey fool everyone by telling them exactly what they are going to do in the draft but nobody believes them. It is highly unlikely we draft Mercilus.
  3. I'm not trying to knock him when I say this but statistically he doesn't rank very highly in categories like yards, TDs and first downs. I would not go as far as saying he is better than most teams #1 because 1004 yds and 7 TDs isn't setting the world on fire but he is BY FAR the best we have. Pay the man his money and then focus on the draft and FA. Put in some bonus clauses to cut down on the unsportsmanlike penalties and find another mid to low tier #1 to put opposite him. He'll be in his 5th year in 2012 but I think he still has some upside left especially if we get another quality target. He could easily improve on those numbers with a full off season for the entire team and another year in Gailey's system. Give Fitz more than 2.36 seconds to throw reliably and I bet his accuracy improves. It has been an issue at times after the rib injury. Honestly though I think it is really more an issue of consistency not accuracy if that makes sense. Most of his passes are very accurate and look good but on occasion he throws up an obviously bad ball thats a head scratcher. To be fair, SJ dropped a would be TD and a likely TD this year all on his own when the ball hit him in the hands. I'm curious. What plays were you watching where SJ lost 3+ TDs due to Fitz's accuracy?
  4. That is a choice that the team makes whether to amortize the bonus over the length of the contract or pay it all up front in the signing year's cap number. The Bills as many other low budget teams take the hit all up front which always makes our cap number look like we are spending more than we really are.
  5. 20-25 carries is way to many a game for a 31 year old RB especially considering he is active in the passing game. The split should be more 50-50 and they should attempt to run at least slightly more to give each around 15 - 20 plus catches. I agree that a guy getting backup carries isn't going to be as effective and that would be a tremendous waste for Spiller. I disagree on Choice however. When Spiller was the backup he actually had a higher yards per carry than Fred and was great at receiving. Choice was no where near the production of FJ and Spiller even though as the backup he got a lot more carries than Spiller did backing up FJ.
  6. Spiller has proved he is more than worthy if you were watching the games and took a look at the stats. Jackson will get a larger share due to veteranitis but how long can a 31 year old RB keep it up? Personally I would love to keep Jackson around for another 3 years but he won't last that long if he is given the lion's share of carries again.
  7. I don't get why some fans are so scared of Coples that they are taking a proactive approach to attacking a guy that might not even fall to us? Could it be that he is considered the top DE and possibly best defender in the draft by many experts? Man I get supporting everyone's pet player but this has gotten crazy. It's starting to sound as bad as the Cam Newton bashing that took place last year. Good thing we didn't draft that guaranteed all time bust
  8. The only problem I see is that a rookie in Gailey's offense would struggle. Gailey requires a quick decision making QB who gets the ball out EXTREMELY quickly while being able to direct his protections up front. I would honestly fear for RG3 with the current state of our offense. I'm only entertaining the conversation hypothetically as there is absolutely no real world way that we can draft him. He won't drop and we can't trade away near our entire draft to gamble on a QB with SO many other huge needs. Ah..my apologies. Upon further review you were referring to BBMB the old forum you posted on and left. Looks like you're off to a great start hear and are already apparently taking the same approach to many of us who have been here for years. The only constant is you. Maybe it's time to consider your approach not the forum. Just sayin'.
  9. Both are more than capable. That being said we won't run enough to make that happen. I do think we easily have two 1000 combined yard backs assuming we keep both heavily involved in the pass game.
  10. Wow. With your disdain for the board why do you post here? Obviously nobody on here can teach you a thing about football and you obviously aren't concerned with sharing in discussions on this board. Is this just a vehicle to express your frustration and spit venom? Some use it as such but it brings nothing to the table of benefit.
  11. Looks like a good QB but I'm not sure about his size. If he is going to run in the nfl he looks a bit thin to me not to mention on the short size for today's NFL QB. Newton and Big Ben can take hits all day due to their size. I don't think RG3 is made for that kind of pounding. He is an effective passer and I believe that he can run but QBs that small will pay the price if they try to do it too often in between the hashes. I'm sure he would be a smart guy and learn to slide or run out of bounds which could still make him very effective.
  12. We won't. So again, just more complaints with no plausible solution.
  13. Try addressing the points I bring up directly instead of useless responses that say nothing. At least try to engage in debate instead of the usual irrelevant quip.
  14. If Ralph did pick Spiller good for him. Spiller is a player and has shed the luxury pick bust label in the eyes of people that look at his actual performance. Projecting his stats for the games he started for a year with his limited touches he would be a top 10 RB in the league. They don't always have to come in the first round but guys like that don't grow on trees. I love FJ too and unlike many who love FJ and HAVE to hate Spiller how many years will 31 year old Freddie continue to produce? Spiller is the obvious heir apparent, is ready for the job and I'm glad we have both. With Spiller getting more touches we can keep FJ healthy and fresh for an entire year and with any luck into the playoffs.
  15. There ya go asking the Fitz haters to provide a real world solution for his replacement. And their answer is....ANNNNNNN......BIG NOTHING! How about we support the guy who proved when the team was healthy he is good enough, is being paid like our QB for at least the next few years and has the absolute full support of the front office and the coaching staff? I know, I know. Novel concept suggesting actually supporting the team as a fan and a player that is obviously not going anywhere for a while is a ludicrous idea!
  16. EXCELLENT post. Unfortunately it's just more FACTS...ACTUAL FACTS and player testimonials that will fall on deaf ears from someone who feels that the likes of us aren't capable of teaching them anything. I have to remember to save these types of links because it is actual proof that supports our common belief. Sadly no matter how much information you throw out there some just won't accept it and continue to believe what they want to and look for obscure massaged data that attempts to support their opinion. It's their right and we waste too much time trying to lead the horse to water while they won't drink. Even with all of the crap Fitz had to go through including his own injury he was 17th in the league by the end of the year while top 5 the first 3rd of the year. That is middle of the road with very little talent to throw the ball to. Imagine what will happen if people get and stay healthy. I can't wait until next year to see what these guys will have to say then. If Fitz comes out firing again it will truly be hilarious what these people will respond with then.
  17. Thanks for getting it. Our line hasn't shown that it can hold up long enough to allow the Brady, Rogers and Drew Brees type throws where they might have to make a slight shift in the pocket and get 5+ seconds at times to hit WRs that can actually create separation and catch the ball with their hands outside their torso.
  18. Just an annoying useless post as others have made complementing one poster while really making a backhanded stab at another. Thought I would join in on the fun. You completely missed his point of a "gelled" offensive line as I mentioned in my previous post. Keep ignoring all the other problems and focus on one guy. I'm sure the Bills thank you for your support. Keep harping on players that are actually good enough instead of focusing on the guys that aren't. Maybe we can run Fitz out of town and let some other QB with a slow release and no balls get killed behind this line. Perhaps you would prefer another Edwards? We saw how he wasn't up to the task behind that line. We also saw how the line looked when Thigpen got in there for a while. Now THAT was not starting QB play. Keep obsessing about the wrong guy. I can't WAIT until football starts. I wonder what your excuse will be if we can keep people healthy especially at WR and Fitz comes out gunning again. I look forward to continuing this conversation when the bullets start flying and look forward to your excuses for explaining away Fitz's expected success. Hopefully you won't change your screen name or stop posting by then. This going to be fun!
  19. Dude QBs that hold on to the ball get pressures and sacks not a guy with the quickest get out like Fitz. That can account for all of his pressures not his line that can't hold up for a long time. Where is your proof of Eli getting rid of the ball the fastest? I have provide a link that Matt Hasselbeck gets rid of it in 2.36 seconds. That same article says that Fitz and the Bills are the fastest. You do the math. As far as offensive lineman playing together a long time. It's a thing called CHEMISTRY. You know the thing that makes a offensive line a cohesive unit. You can't dismiss that. Again the same coaching and system this creates CONTINUITY. You can't dismiss that. Look at the defense the guy has on the other side of the ball that when healthy can keep the Giants in any game! Look at his WR core compared to our wild cat QB, a RB and cast offs that we have had to start throughout the year. Where are your concrete facts that are not in anyway effected by a multitude of factors? Is the line to blame for a QB that holds on to the ball to long? Again. No factual stats to back up your claims.
  20. Yeah! And the crowd gives the poster a 10! You really pegged D2K there. LOL. Figured I would join in with the strategy of praising a poster while back handing another while not addressing the points. P.S. Great points although they will fall on deaf ears because as he states he doesn't believe he can learn anything from me and probably you. AMEN brother. I have said the same that supposed fans should support the few good players we have but people want a target for their frustration and they want a single face to direct it at.
  21. You sort of proved my point though you won't see it. Fitz finished 17th in the league with a beat up offensive line that is mediocre at pass blocking when healthy. He was throwing passes to a wild cat QB, a RB and a collection of practice squad guys and rejects off the street STARTING at WR at times and it's all his fault? At best with Fitz being 17th that would say there are only 16 starting caliber QBs in the league. How many of them are actually franchise? You ignore that when the team was healthy he was top 5. This IS my point. People's expectations are WAY to high and they ignore the team around a QB and want to blame a single individual. This is why guys get run out of town for the next guy and the next and the next and the next. Try being a supporter instead of bashing one of the guys on the team that actually has some talent and plays well when there is talent around him on both sides of the ball.
  22. AH ....glad you're back. He was actually poking fun at me trying to get me on a Jason Peters rant but you are in full defense mode I see. SOOOOO... why don't you take a look at post #93 and check out this link and then muse on the effectiveness of our awesome offensive line. http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/30493/line-of-scrimmage-key-to-qb-play-winning
  23. Fitz played a solid game against what was the #1 ranked defense for much of the year. No turnovers completing passes to 8 different receivers. That was the infamous game Buddy Nix was referring to that our defense made a rookie look like an all pro. Against the Jets with a helping hand from SJ and one of his ill timed TD drops we lost another one. Lets not forget we just lost Parrish who was a big part of our first 3 games in his new role. Not a great game by Fitz and more importantly a bad game for THE TEAM. I don't see the value in pointing out a bad game here or there. How did superbowl winning QB Eli Manning look in the Giants several game slide before backing into the play offs at 9 - 7? How did Tom Brady look against the Ravens and the Giants in the Pats last two games of the season? Guess they aren't franchise QBs because they had a couple bad games. Hey man you are the one swinging from D2k's junk not me. You're taking your daughter AND your girlfriend out for Valentines Day?
  24. I am daring people to do it. If people are going to make accusations or make a legal argument the burden of proof is on the prosecution. I don't hate Fitz and think he is more than good enough. Those that don't should bare the burden of proof to show that he isn't. Show me facts not "I don't like the cut of his jib" or "how he looks" or the ever dreaded "eyeball test". How did the eyeball test work looking at Cam Netwon? Some of the people on this board claimed they would stop being fans if we drafted that no talent loser. Well....lookie lookie with their eyeball test. He is statistically the best rookie QB EVER and that doesn't even include his rushing yards and TDs. I'm trying to wake people up and open their eyes to see the STATS and a QBs performance not their own bias. I also throw in qualitative assessments and stats regarding the talent around him that negatively impacts him. I point to the first 5,6,7 weeks of this year when what little talent we have was healthy and how he was leading the league. How people can ignore that performance with their qualitative eye ball test is beyond me. I expect that Fitz will start looking like that guy that started the year when people around him including himself get health.
  25. D2K...please tell me you haven't given up on this thread. I would really love to hear your response to the ESPN article that says that the Bills (Fitz) gets rid of the ball the fastest in the league which must be faster than the 2.36 second average Matt Hasselbeck has!!! I also seem to recall that the measuring stick for a good pass blocking o-line was about 3 seconds. I wonder how you think we stack up against that?
