  1. I am just learning to accept it now. Gotta have the right tool for the job. You can't shoot down a plane with a pistol. I don't think it's a matter of choice I really believe that Trent is incapable.
  2. I do appreciate your nicer tone as well. Now we can talk. As I said I guess we have a different definition of a #1 WR. You seem to judge them by the routes they run. I tend to judge them by the threat they present, if they get double teamed constantly and the most important thing their actual production. Laverneous Coles is a great example. His average production over the last 3 years is 865yds and 6 tds. You call him a #1. By my standards this also makes Lee a #1 because Lee has averaged 1052yds and 5tds the last 3 years with no #2 and dunderhead or rookie QBs. He has actually out produced your #1 WR Laverneous. Steve Smith is a freak and is not just a #1 he is an ELITE WR. Not to mention he has a QB that has the arm to make use of his field stretching speed. Without the threat of the deep ball because of his QB Steve Smith would be covered up like a blanker inside 25yds from scrimmage like they do Lee. I don't know about you but I care about yds and TDs not which route tree they are running. I don't recall them handing out first downs and points for running across the middle. Of course in a way this has gotten tremendously off topic in that the question was why Trent looks lost and if it is Lee Evans fault not whether Lee is a #1 or not. I said it before. Trent looked lost because he is lost. You didn't have to stay at a Holiday Inn to know that he still doesn't know how to read and play against 3 - 4 defenses. He can call the plays at the line if he doesn't like what he sees. Problem is I don't think he knows what he sees.
  3. Lee Evans is a 4.37 5'10" 198 lb WR. What do you expect of him? To be the big body presence in the middle of the field running routes over the middle getting drilled by safeties, linebackers and DBs? Generally you have small guys that are fast and go deep and big guys that are slow and work the middle and edges. It's rare to find guys that are both. I think because Lee is not both you are saying he is one dimensional. I'll take Lee Evans one dimensional 1292 yds and 8 TDs like when JP was throwing him the ball any year. Imagine if JP actually knew how to run an NFL offense? We're talking elite.
  4. And I said you mentioned Trent where Genius? I mentioned Trent!!! This BS about Lee Evans makes just another excuse for not looking at Trent with clear vision. It was MY point. I wasn't saying it was yours. Learn to read. I didn't realize pro bowl nominations had anything to do with being a #1 WR. That's a new one on me. Forget about RBs. 1000 yd WR are not easy to come by. If that is such a small feat how come we have only been able to find one in the last 5 years? Answer me that! Seems like you think that it's no big deal and any old #2 level talent WR can get 1000yds a year. Again this guy is a Ferrari not the truck that tows your boat. If you want a guy that works the middle of the field and out muscles and out bodies DBs you need a 6'2"+ 220+ lb WR like Terrell Owens. If you want a guy that is a deep threat and can stretch the field and run some deep ins and outs you get Lee Evans. Problem is is that our current QB can't makes those throws. You can make the case that Lee Evans is not the #1 WR for a noodle arm QB like Edwards but a guy with an actual arm like JP and a brain unlike JP that can run an NFL offense makes him a star. I mentioned this before. I guess it comes down to what you call a #1 WR. Me, I call a #1 WR the guy that is your biggest threat. The guy the other team double teams. The guy that gets you 1000yds a year. If you think a #1 WR is, again, 6'2"+ and 220+lb that runs crossing routes and catches jump balls then we differ in our opinion of the definition of what a #1 is.
  5. It's there. Just took a look again. 12:34 - 12:33 on the clock. It's a little pump, hitch, hesitation whatever you want to call it with his right shoulder as you can see.
  6. Why let actual factual statistics get in the way of making a point and creating another excuse for Trent. It was the LATE 80's and 90's not the 1950's. They still threw the ball and Buffalo threw it more than most!
  7. A + B =5 I don't agree with your assessment of Lee's effort level in the somewhat meaningless preseason OR during the regular season when it counts. That being said I don't know what his supposed effort level during preseason has to do with him being a #1. Randy Moss and Terrell Owens have had their effort level questioned too. I don't think anyone is saying they aren't #1s because of the skepticism of a few.
  8. Yes Evans had his man beat. The DB was playing catchup and was coming with momentum. It was pass interference but it was a no call. I don't think you can really blame Lee. He got to his spot. He positioned himself well but the DB got away with one. His attack on the ball in this case because of the no call can't be judged by the end result. As I mentioned before. You can see the shot of Trent double pumping the ball before he finally throws it. If he lets it go on the first pump it's a completion.
  9. Also you can see the little hitch Edwards takes just before he lets the ball fly. That's ALL it took!!! Inches and split seconds can make all the difference.
  10. I've watched that play several times on my DVR. Lee Evans did attack the LATE thrown ball. Lee made a really hard cut to shield the ball with his body and got run through by the DB on the no call. Go back and watch it one more time. You'll see what I'm talking about.
  11. It's amazing that we can see the same thing and draw 2 different conclusions. You're absolutely correct though. Lee WAS waiting for the ball on his comeback route...it was thrown late!!! That ball is supposed to be on him when he is making his break back to the QB. WR don't make their break and then immediately start sprinting back to the QB in case the ball is thrown late or slow. They are supposed to be at a specific spot at a specific time and the ball is too!!!! That being said the no call on what could have been pass interference was as much a factor as trying to blame someone in a Bills uniform.
  12. I hope the statistically 2nd best WR to EVER play the game does completely outclass Evans. No shame in that I say. Assuming TO gets/stays healthy and Edwards takes some risks I think Lee will have a great year. Lee only had a legit WR opposite him his first year or 2 in Eric Moulds. I expect that kind of production again with a credible threat opposite him.
  13. That's kind of a stretch don't you think? Please give me a list of WR that get double teamed and have a safety rolled over the top and can still put up numbers? I think your talking about an EXTREMELY small list of probably less than 5 WR tops. I'll also wager that those WR have QBs with big arms that can throw a ball in the air more than 25 yds. Larry Fitzgerald has Kurt Warner Randy Moss has Tom Brady Steve Smith has Jake Delhomme These guys have big arms. Put those WR on teams with a noodle arm QB that waits until they are completely wide open before they throw the ball and tell me how they would fair. I think what you think is a simple #1 WR is actually a superstar WR. OH..I also forgot to point out that those guys also have a supporting cast. Moss has Welker and now Galloway, Fitz has Boldin and Breaston who are also both 1000yrd WR. In truth I may be missing your point though if your contention is that you can't be a #1 WR if you aren't a 6'2"+ 220+ lb big body WR. Obviously Lee is not that. But, you don't buy a Ferrari and then complain that it can't tow your boat like a truck.
  14. I love this retort to the "good WR find ways to get open" argument. What most people don't seem to get is that both statements have some validity. If you really think about it I think this is Trent's A#1 problem as a QB: He doesn't anticipate his WR making the break and he waits until they are wide open!!!!!!!! REALLY THINK ABOUT THAT! For short underneath check down passes, which seem to be a staple of his game and touted completion percentage, this is not a problem. The ball is in the air a very short period of time and the defense doesn't have much time to make a play. Now...do the same thing down field and you have a problem. With Trent's lack of arm strength the ball is going to be in the air a long time giving the defense plenty of time to adjust and make a play on the ball. Hello interception Saturday night. I want to say it was concussion boy Troy Aikman who used to say "if you wait for a wide receiver to be open to throw him the ball, it's already to late" If Trent can pull the trigger and make these throws a second earlier it could really improve his game. Well, that and actually run the no huddle a bit more up tempo like Fitz did.
  15. That is patently untrue!!! Tweedledumber JP Losman somehow managed to make Lee Evans a 1000+ yd 7+ TD wide receiver and he was a dolt!!!! Tell us again how Evans can't get open?
  16. Lee's route running was fine. Trent threw the ball late and with no velocity. Even the commentators pointed out the part about throwing it late.
  17. Agreed for the most part. Evans, Reed as the #2 and Parrish are too easy to cover. I have always wondered why we move Reed out of his slot position. He is definitely not a #2 but I think he is a good #3 especially given his ability to block. It seems we would have been better served to keep Reed in the slot and let one of our bigger bodies like Johnson, Jenkins or Huggins fill in for T.O.
  18. Not trying to be argumentative, but if Lee is not a #1 then 2/3rds of the league don't have a #1 WR.
  19. This will be his 3rd year in the league. I think we know what kind of arm and velocity on the ball Trent has. If Trent threw the ball with his "manhood" women would tell him it was a good size to be nice.
  20. Maybe if we're lucky Trent will turn out to be Chad Pennigton post shoulder surgeries. That's only a half insult as it means he could become an efficient care taker of the offense with no deep ball.
  21. Those are all contributing factors to the teams success or lack there of. I see other QBs get the job done with similar problems. I hope Trent does well this year. I really do. If he is successful our team will be successful. I have never made excuses for his play though. One excuse I hope people will quit trotting out there is the coaching and play calling. Trent is running the no huddle. Guess who can call the plays now? He can make the appropriate changes at the line of scrimmage if he bothered to study how to read a 3 - 4 defense.
  22. Lee Evans is a #1 WR. He's not Larry Fitzgerald. We know this. There are PLENTY of teams out there that would LOVE to have this guy. It's not his fault if Trent can't throw a deep ball. Don't blame Lee for being something he is not. What he is is a field stretching deep threat. That is not Trent's strength. What he is not is an over the middle 6'4" 220lb big body.
  23. That's kind of what I'm worried about. The guy looks great. I thought I heard the Patsies were pissed we picked him up. The guy LOOKS like a real TE.
  24. 1) Why do we think Schouman is our best TE? It's doesn't seem like he is any better at blocking than any of the other 3 TE. 2) Is Nelson moving up the depth chart? I saw him in the first quarter getting first team reps. 3) Is it just me or do we seem to mainly be using Nelson as a blocker early in games? 4) Why is Stupar the only TE challenging the middle of the field? All of the other TEs seemed to be running out routes. Stupar is the only one heading up field. If it were up to me, I start giving Stupar and Nelson 1st team reps to see if they can continue to block and makes plays in the passing game. I don't know that Fine has done anything to truly distinguish himself from Schouman but one of them needs to go and keep the other as the 3rd string TE.
