That draft included out starting QB
-
Uh two years of learning the play book, film study, practice, hearing the play calls and observing it first hand on the sidelines game day, etc...just sayin'
-
From what I have heard this was to be the first year in the Mularkey, Fairchild, Schonert era the the QB was going to be allowed to call audibles or his own plays at the line of scrimmage. If Trent is smart enough he'll be able to get out of bad plays into better ones if given the freedom after the in helmet communication shuts down with 15 sec left on the play clock.
-
He knows how the no huddle should TRULY be run and can't be worse than Schonert. If not for anything else I hope hope hope he will to call some better plays. I am not an expert but how many different plays are there really to run on offense? There are only so many routes a WR can run, so many blocking schemes, so many screens and draws etc. What I think is of the utmost importance is WHICH plays you call out of the book and WHEN you call them. They need to start calling some plays from this side of the millennium. All these routes where a WR sits down and wait for the ball, and out patterns for NO yac possibility are old school BS football. Hit some guys in stride, work the middle of the field, throw the deep ball for crying out loud!

I'm not sure where all of this is coming from about Ralph making the decision. Call me gullible but I take Jauron at his word that it was HIS decision and he called Ralph for the go ahead. Whatever you think of him as a coach I believe he is an honest man. Hopefully the outcome will be a positive one but to me it shows that Jauron was not settling for mediocrity or in truth down right poor performance. He made a uncharacteristic hard choice and chose to shake things up. That being said I'm sure he did feel some pressure to shake things up because his job can't be that secure and it was becoming obvious that Schonert was NOT getting it done. Some of Jauron's comments stuck in my head and hopefully the Bills follow through on it. Some points I recall were an attacking offense, sticking to the no huddle and running it at a better pace. All things I want to hear!!! Really, how much worse can you do than Schonert?
-
Silly Silly man! There you go explaining things logically and supporting it with real world examples. For shame!!!! Trent is GOD!!!! Lee Evans should be playing in the CFL!!!!
-
Actually I should have said 4.6yds which is his preseason average!
-
He can, you just need a QB that can throw for more than 7 yards in the air!!!!
-
I don't care about preseason. It means nothing.

Last Successful 1st Round Lineman Drafted by the Bills
PDaDdy replied to PDaDdy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow. Of course. How could I forget Ruben!?!?! A friend of mine actually played football with him at Pitt I believe it was. Good call. At least that guy was drafted by us in the last 15 years I think. Depending on how this year goes we might be looking for a QB with our first round pick but I would love to see another lineman drafted next year. I don't know if I would like it to be a LT, if lightning doesn't almost literally, strike twice with Bell or another DE that can rush the passer. Schobel is no guarantee to return to 2006 form and I'm not sure if what we are already developing is enough. You can't have enough good lineman on either side of the ball, especially a guy that can get to the other guys QBs! -
Aaron Maybin looked electric on his sack
PDaDdy replied to DELLAPELLE JOHN's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Absolutely agreed but some people unfairly still are. The guy caught 2 of a pitiful handful of TDs we threw last year. In my book that's huge. You can talk about leadership and poise and all the other BS intangibles but TDs put point on the board. This guy catches them when given the chance. -

It's preseason but I haven't noticed him being a liability in the plays I have seen him in. At least it seems that our coaching staff has the tiniest bit of fire under them. Normally we would rather play an injured or under performing veteran than a rookie that is a little rough around the edges. Think Terrance McGee getting torched by Ted Ginn Jr. in his coming out game. I think they are using the Bills Parcells philosophy with Maybin. Find out what the kid does well and put him in a position to use those tools and succeed. Screw Kelsay and Denney! Play this guy on every down and cover him up with a linebacker and and let him go bonkers on opposing QBs. -

I'm still trying to figure out how are WR are going to pan out this year and next. Based on the assumption that Owens is here for one year, what will we look like next year? I like Steve Johnson a lot but where do we put him. I would like to see him in the slot but I think he mainly works outside. What do we do when Hardy comes back? People say he is not ready some even say he is a bust. The guy has 9 catches for 80 something yards I think it was and even more inportantly 2 TDs. Seeing as how Trent only threw for 11 last year that's a lot of TDs especially per catch. Hardy needs to at least be in for goal line and red zone plays. Maybe he can work the slot and put Johnson on the outside and of course Lee Evans the other wide. What do we do with Josh Reed? He's made himself into a serviceable role player the last year or so but he's not giving defensive coordinators fits and he only goes about 5'10" or 5'11" I think. I would love to see both Hardy and Johnson outplay him but we know the veteran man love that our current staff has. -
Vikings testing waters with Tarvaris Jackson
PDaDdy replied to Billadelphia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This was sort of my point yesterday. Are you really saying that Trent's "time on the field" warrants HIM being the starter? This was the comparison I was asking you to make. Show me a 4 game stint or an entire season for Edwards that proves he is better than Travaris and worthy of being the starter. Just because the Vikings have the good sense to try to improve their team by getting perhaps the best QB to ever play the game to help take them deeper in the playoffs doesn't make Travaris bad. Just because the Bills don't have the good sense to do the same doesn't make Trent good! -
Is it just me or are we REALLY bad a identifying and drafting talent for the offensive and defensive lines in the first round? It seems are all we get are duds or guys that end up as second teamers. I might even include lineman drafted in the 2nd as well. I'm probably missing somebody but the last guy I can think of is Bruce. It looks like we might have finally made a good choice again and there is some hope for Maybin and Wood. It's still early to tell but so far so good. Wood seems to be progressing and Maybin has 2 sacks in as many games with QB pressures and also drew that holding call that nullified the Calvin Johnson TD last night. Although I hate the Phins this guy could be the new Jason Taylor at least by way of his speed and build. Let's hope!

Vikings testing waters with Tarvaris Jackson

Did you even read the content of the thread? Nice try indeed buddy!! Also nice try to change the subject. If you don't feel Jackson is worthy of being a backup based on a great 4 games, show me 4 games or an entire season for that matter that makes Trent worthy of being a starter? -

What Trent has to do with this is the ENTIRE THREAD is about bringing in Travaris Jackson as a backup who would obvious challenge Trent for the starting job. The fact that he has put up better numbers than Trent not only more than qualifies him as a valid backup for our team but also makes him a legitimate replacement for Trent. If you're saying a great 4 game stint doesn't qualify him to back Trent up, I'm asking you to provide a 4 game stint that qualifies Trent as the starter. -

Please make a case for how good Trent is and how worthy as a starter he is using any 4 game stretch YOU like PLEASE include Trent's stats and what made him so good. I won't bother waiting for a response because I know you can't provide a better case for him starting -

If only you an I ran the organization. I LOVE all of the speculation and the idea. Unfortunately I think EVERY single one of us here knows it's not going to happen because Jackson could challenge and likely beat out Edwards for the starting job. Somewhere in some back office a few years ago when they pulled the rug out from under another guy that probably wasn't the answer they decided Trent was our savior and the Bills' and Jauron and staff's future was tied to him. -

I guess Marshawn Lynch and Freddie Jackson are just along for the ride as our offense centers around Trent. LOL. We are in some SERIOUS trouble if you think the offense is centered around our QB. Those 11 TDs he put up last year nearly took us to the super bowl!!!! -

DUDE...don't bother quoting relevant stats to Trentative apologists. Let's not ruin blind unfounded optimism with real world performance. -
