  1. The title of the thread being "Jarius Byrd - Not Impressed yet" prooooobably threw people off. Just sayin'. Perhaps if you include "...and other miscellaneous ramblings" it might have shifted the focus away from Byrd.
  2. What does a GM do?
  3. He HAS played like a rookie. I hope he grows up in a hurry! A QB like Drew Brees will KILL him!
  4. Eh, starting, contributing. It's all semantics. Whether Jackson or Lynch is the "starter" they both, repeat BOTH, need to see a LOT of action. These guys are great weapons. I don't know where it's coming from but this Lynch vs Jackson stuff is silly. I am ecstatic that we have the two of them. I'm not sure why people are hating on Lynch. Jackson is a 28 year old man who has been playing 6 years of professional football (3 in the NFL). Lynch is a 23 year old YOUNG man who has yet to play the first game of his 3rd year. The guy turns nothing into something and has better leg drive than any other RB in the league. What do you say we let Lynch come back and get used to this new line that actually seems to be able to pull and open holes in the run game and see what HE can do before we throw him under the bus? Again, this RB "tandem" should be getting at least 40 touches between them. Starter? Co-starter? Back-up? Change of pace? WHO CARES!?!?!? These guys need the ball in their hands and defenses will PAY! Back on topic. Nelson and Stupar should be our starting TEs in 2 TE sets. LOL. Fine will be in there to spell people possibly in short yardage situations where his size and supposed superior blocking ability would be a plus.
  5. This is the same staff that is forcing two rookie guards on us. LOL. BELIEVE ME. I was and still am somewhat skeptical. SO FAR SO GOOD! They have earned some trust from me. Behind that line Trent is still on his feet and Jackson looks like he should be at the very least be getting 20 touches even when Lynch comes back. We have another contributing pass rusher with Maybin, a promising you tight end in Nelson who has already caught a TD. These recent draft picks are good! Wait until Nic Harris is ready to contribute! That being said I have the sense that we are much more receptive to playing young talent now as opposed to making them wait than we have been in the past. TRUE, we had a LONG way to go in this respect. I don't know where the pressure is coming from but it's happening. The TE position and possibly the DE position are the only areas where we might have undrafted and or free agent talent that could/should be contributing over some starters. Due to injury we will see this talent at TE and I hope Stupar and Nelson BOTH see plenty of time. It's only week 2. Let's give them some time and a break as I feel they deserve some leeway after making some very risky personnel moves that seem to be working.
  6. Don't be fooled if past performance is of any value. Fewell blitzes like a MAD MAN!!! I don't recall the article but I believe we were one of the teams that blitzed the most in the NFL last year. I think we also ran a LOT of blitzes against Tampa Bay as well. What would TRULY be a surprise is if he relied primarily on only a 4 man rush. Fewell WILL blitz but for some reason I don't think we will do it as often as we usually do which is pretty often. In theory isn't our defense designed to thwart exactly this type of offense? The cover 2 is designed to prevent the big play and stop the run. Those are exactly NO's strengths. I actually have an odd concern in that the incredible speed of Reggie Bush could pose a problem for us. Not usually that high on the threat list with Brees, those WR and the other between the tackles RBs but watch out!
  7. Didn't read the whole thread so I might have gotten things out of context. I do think I pegged you as a troll just trying to stir things up with your rant though. Did I correctly get the gist of "Are we clear?" as you being an inflammatory d1ckhead?.... Or were you JUST concerned that I understood what your already quite simple explanation meant?
  8. Man you like to try to pigeon hole people into your own little convenient boxes and then rail against them. I have not seen any people predicting a 3 - 13 season. Maybe there have been but I think they are in a very small group of people who deserve to voice their opinion. Other than you, who says someone predicting 9 - 7 is an "unrealist"???? Your arguing against the wall buddy in your imaginary world. I personally AM a realist and I think 9 - 7 is VERY doable. I took your response seriously but I really think you're really just stirring the pot to try to get a rise out of people with that WAY off base assessment of the fan base.
  9. It might be more useful to divide it up between realists and "unrealists". The point being I think many people on here are realists about the good AND the bad about this team. They can provide criticism of our faults while still being optimistic and hopeful for a Bills win. Why would anyone who really did hate the Bills participate in a Bills forum? I am of course excluding trolls who come here to start trouble with us fans. Some "unrealists" can't, won't or don't choose to see the faults and short comings of this team that are areas for improvement and concern. Some focus TOO much on the negative and some focus TOO much on blind optimism! You can't ignore this teams strengths OR it's weaknesses and we should feel comfortable discussing both as that is what it is to be a fan of the Bills.
  10. I can't remember combine times for what that is worth but he might actually be a TINY bit faster than Lee.
  11. Those 5'9" 170 lbs are STRONG at the point of attack. He should have held up for at least 1 - 2 minutes!
  12. Schouman wasn't any bigger than Nelson and Stupar was he? As far as what I saw on blocking in preseason he didn't impress me that much when the starters were in in preseason for what that is worth.
  13. That is terrible about Schouman. You don't like to see a guy go down like that and lose his job that way. I hate to say it but I think immediately or very shortly we will be better off with Nelson and Stupar! Let's just hope the coaching staff doesn't go brain dead and develop veteran man love for Derek Fine and keep our actual play making TEs on the bench. Schouman had A FINE game Sunday but Nelson can score TDs with that speed, as he showed week 1, and Stupar just plays like a tough old fashion baller. He worked the middle in preseason like nobody else.
  14. I HATE to think about what ifs regarding the season opener but it would be a different story if we beat New England, who so far looks VERY beatable, and beat a team Sunday that wasn't expected to be one of the worst teams in the league this year. Power rankings don't change over night. Keep winning and they will take care of themselves!
  15. Philly doesn't have a lot of room to talk from what I hear but is the story factual? All it takes are a few classless knuckle heads in the stands and some off field incidents like that.
  16. I was one of the biggest skeptics of the line coming together. So far so good. We need fast agile guys. I don't know if the automatic answer is youth. So far so good. Apparently they are making some risky moves but so far good calls.
  17. If you make a request for information you should be prepared to do the same. You show me yours and I'll show you mine. LOL. Show me the "pundits" descriptions of his strong arm. Good point! Perhaps you are actually right and that Trent is capable of making those throws. Sadly we don't know at this point because he DOESN'T make those throws. Sorry about that but I thought I was trying to meet half way on that. I'm probably wrong but I thought I kept things to a heated discussion with you. With StupidNation things got personal because he was attacking projection errors and insulting my intelligence. Typical strategy for some with nothing to share. Attack, spelling, grammar or math, act superior, repeat. All the while not actually contributing anything of value to the discussion.
  18. This is why I question those stats. Using your eyes do you think there is only a .5 mph difference in the speed of the ball they throw? Be honest now! It was a great pass. No ifs, ands, or buts. This issue is apparently so polarizing that some could think that wasn't a great pass. It was PERFECT! TO dropped a potential TD if not just a huge gain. I'm not quite happy yet but there is hope. He has looked good again to start this year. I have said this so many times it is getting comical but I am not saying that he can't be effective, just that he doesn't have a big arm. It is big enough to play the game, but not a BIG arm.
  19. No I know and MY people know better. LOL....We've gotten a little childish about this haven't we? You and me both. Until my eyes see other wise there will be a group of pundits and fans that will not say he has a big arm. I suppose there will be another group that claims he does. Just a difference of opinion. In all of this I have personally lost sight of the fact that Trent is looking good so far this year. I could also refer to the stats that another post put up regarding ball speed. Look for the guys who are in the NFL and have been starting QBs. I would wager that Trent is not in the top half of that list. And those are supposed crappy combine numbers which I don't put a ton of stock in.
  20. Easy! This was in response to an assertion that I was now changing the subject to be about arm strength and away from effectiveness. An assertion that my marker was Jamarcus Russell and Jay Cutler for acceptable or big arm strength. Yes I have yet to see these IN SEASON...scouting reports. On this I should have been more specific. We all know that pre-draft scouting reports are speculation at best. We just need to look as far as Tom Brady the poster boy for useless pre-draft scouting reports. Again consistent with my desire to see current scouting reports that are relevant to the player he is now not what people speculated about before the draft. When I bring up a point about Trent's arm strength the retort was to discuss his effectiveness, bring up other successful QBs with weak arms and assert that I was making over the top comparison to the elite of the elite arms in the NFL like Cutler and Russell. There were excerpts from all over the place without the original post I was responding too. Quoting me out of context created some confusion for me. In context there was room for interpretation I suppose. Hope that clears it up for you.
  21. I'll give you this you did some research. I did the same about a year ago it was I'll guess and found those different sources of information. I wished it could have been the same site providing the information. I hate to be that guy but those numbers don't jive with what I, NFL pundits and yes some fans see. Yes the OBVIOUSLY dumb fans that think Trent has a less than stellar arm, not the obvious smart fans who think otherwise. Perhaps under combine conditions Edward's arm really isn't that far behind some other guys. At the same time I see what I see week in and week out. I could go through the math again and try to give "tardnation" some thing to double check with his slide rule for a chance to try to belittle someone and feel superior about a non football opinion math error projection but I won't bother. I went through the trouble of comparing Trent's combine rated arm speed based of these questionable sources stats vs JP at the time. A 2.4mph difference in ball speed for a 40 yard pass traveling an imaginary straight line yielded and appreciable amount of time something in the order of a few tenths of a sec longer for the ball to get there. Take into consideration that in reality a ball travels in and arc and we are talking about even more time. Considering many DBs have 4.4, 4.3 speed and they can cover a LOT of ground in that time. This means that a DB can close on a WR and make a play on the ball much easier with only a 2+ mph difference in ball speed. This can make the difference between QBs where they both than throw the over the shoulder rainbow to the outside or to a WR that got behind the coverage. But the one with the greater ball speed can make that deep down the middle of the field throw between defenders. Again for the cheap seats and the Trent nut sack swingers. THIS DOESN'T MEAN THAT TRENT CAN'T BE EFFECTIVE! This just means that Trent can't make some throws that some other QBs can make. No amount of timing allows you to jam a ball into that tight window when it opens up. You need brute force!
  22. Gladly if you can explain your confounding question of a post. Not trying to be a jerk but it's all over the place with multiple quotes and things out of order.
  23. I have been hard on the guy but he has given fans some hope coming out of the gate. I hope he keeps it up.
  24. Heh heh. He wasn't the answer either buddy. I always thought that if we could put Trents head in JPs body we would have a great Frankenstein QB!!!!
  25. What do you NOT get about my statement that he doesn't have a strong arm? What other points of yours have I disputed? Seriously, get on point man. In other words I actually agree with a lot of what you said. On the issues of arm strength Trent is not in the top 1/3 to 1/2 of NFL QBs. Unless you are disputing that we really have nothing to discuss. Also all of the questions you pose I have already answered. Not going to type them again but my points regarding your questions are already there.
