Pitoniak: "Time for some Cowher Power in Buffalo"
PDaDdy replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Will you be saying that about Edwards when he is in the UFL in 2010?? Or will you still be blaming his failings on Jauron? -
It IS a great example though of GREAT QB play behind a bad line. When you get your opportunities you have to make the most of them. Trent squanders them and throws bad balls or just checks it down until the game is WELL out of hand in the 4th quarter. Imagine if he had attempted and made a few of those long completions in the first quarter when it could have backed off the coverage on his preferred check down throws.
-
It's been fun shooting down your argument but no additional time will be spent dealing with you Pats Fanboy Troll!!! Now I have to figure out how to block a user.
-
Man. I don't know how many times I have to say I don't believe there is a conspiracy until it gets through to you. You aren't going to get away with trying to shift the point of my argument. DO YOU SIR BELIEVE THAT THE PATS ARE A TEAM GREATLY BENEFITED, IF NOT THE TEAM MOST BENEFITED, BY QUESTIONABLE CALLS?!?!?!?!? Again I also ask you to answer in response as to whether the Pats got a pass on either or both the no call on roughing the passer on Flacco or Brady's intentional grounding while between the tackles hitting a spot on the field that had no WR within a 10 - 15 yard radius of the balls impact spot? I pretty much shouldn't be wasting my time talking to a Pats Fanboy because they are even worse at being objective than Bills fans.
-
So your argument is that since they don't do it 100% of the time they must not do it at all? Is that what I am hearing? The Giants flat out WHOOPED the Pats. It would have taken some INCREDIBLY blatant favorable calls to stem that tide.
-
The fake punt was also "questionable" but I'm talking about the late hit on Flacco. The one were he got rid of the ball. The defender took 2 more steps and launched into him. This was the play where their offensive lineman was hurt in the tumble and carted off the field. Even Trent Dilfer referenced this play on ESPN as being a double standard regarding Tom Brady and other QBs. All in the same game. I'm also talking about Brady being in the grasp, between the tackles and he throws the ball into an open area on the field with LITTERALLY no WR in a 10 - 15 radius of where the ball landed...no call. Fake punt ruling was weak but those are really the issues I'm talking about. Ravens get called for roughing the passer and intentional grounding and the Pats, as usual, get a pass!!! I was remaining civil but PLEASE!!!!!! From my TV vantage point I didn't see any blatantly wrong calls in the game beyond the norm. Come on fan boy. The national media is finally speaking out on it now and still you saw no blatantly wrong calls? I didn't even want to discuss the bad calls made ON the Ravens but I'll mention it now. A guys gets pushed to the ground, brushes the outside leg of Tom Brady who is unfazed and unmoved and it's roughing the passer? Haloti Ngata breaths on Tommy Boys helmet as he passes bye Tommy again unfazed and unmoved and another roughing the passer? FOR SHAME SIR!!!
-
It's a bit of yin yang IMO. Ever notice how teams that get the breaks tend to be good and the teams that don't tend to be bad? To a somewhat lesser extent it does kind of work the other way as well.
-
I'm not sure why you are bent on trying to put labels on what people see. Just agree that you see it. Several individuals acting on their own that produce a similar result does not a conspiracy make. Do I think people get together in a room and say lets give the Pats preferential treatment? NO! Maybe you do which is why you keep calling it a conspiracy. How about you answer a question of mine or of one of the other posters questions you are dodging Pat's Fanboy. Do YOU think the rules of intentional grounding and roughing the passer were officiated equally on both sides???? NOTE I said equally on both sides. I am not asking you to comment on whether the Ravens should have been called or not. I am asking if the Patriots went uncalled on their infractions. We'll see what kind of character you have by the answers you give OR choose to avoid
-
Again. Said nothing about conspiracy but I see what I see. You can't deny the Pats are getting preferential calls regardless of the reason for it!!! All I know is that Rules get changed and specific incidents in Patriots games have been the impetus for such changes!
-
The stats have been put out there. The number of passes to RBs and TEs BLOWS AWAY how many times he throws to WRs. In a Tim Graham thread there were stats regarding Trent only attempting 8 passes beyond a measly 20 yards. Hit only hit on 2 out of the 8 by the way!!!!
-
I don't know that footballs has conspiracies. What I do know is that the Patriots have been the beneficiaries of suspect favor calls and rules changes for year. Can you say "tuck rule", did you see the Ravens game yesterday? Apparently they only call intentional grounding and roughing the passer on teams NOT named the Patriots. Tom Brady even got his own rule. Carlson Palmer taken out at the knees by the Steelers in the play offs. Your own Vince Wolfork takes out JP Losman and begins the Edwards era. OOOOOHHHH but Tom Brady gets taken out at the knees and now it's time for a rule change and you can't go low on a QB!!!!!!! They did get you guys once though. A couple years ago the league "re-emphasized" the pass interference rules down the field because of how "aggressive"(read pass interference) the Patriots CBs would be down field. Your guys were masters of "incidental" contact. You were able to get away with it for years though until enough people complained.
-
GO AWAY PATRIOT FAN BOY!!!! YOU OBVIOUSLY CAN'T SEE WHAT THE REST OF THE WORLD IS FINALLY SEEING NOT JUST OPPONENTS WHO HAVE BEEN SCREWED BY THE PATRIOT ACT!!!
-
I half agree with you. JP perhaps could have become something in Pittsburgh. Ben would have still been big Ben even in Buffalo. He has an arm AND can hit the short pass.
-
Come on man. How many WRs can catch the ball if it's NOT thrown to them???? Tell me that! Why does Reed catch 3rd down conversions??? Because Edwards throws him the ball on 3rd down. END OF STORY!!!! All Lee has done is average pretty much 1000yds a season since he has been a full time starter!! So has TO. BUT YOU, oh great pundit of football, think the problem is the WR. Please stop embarrassing yourself! Your numbers are WAY off on how many Losman "heaves" he and Lee hooked up on. I get it. You hate Losman but don't lose your objectivity. JP could hit Lee deep [PERIOD] They did it well. If you were the fan that many of us are you would see that those were legit TDs often in the thick of a game if not game winners. Not garbage time as you erroneously allege! Man you guys are desperate to somehow drag JP back into the conversation using the Evans as a bridge. Trent sucks ALL ON HIS OWN!!! Don't be the last one swingin' from Trent's you know whats!!! Lee Evans sucks, TO sucks, blah blah blah. Admit a HUGE part of the problem is Trent!!! Did you even watch the game yesterday?
-
Really not sure what to make of that statistic. All good WR compile statistics. Am I missing something hear? Are you really trying to say that Lee Evans isn't that good because all he does is make catches and rack up yards? Seriously? I don't mean to be a jerk but are you just starting to "RE-EVALUATE" your assessment today? WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG? Assessing the play at any position should be a WEEKLY occurrence. It is NEVER a good idea to blindly support anyone or anything without question for any length of time. Doing so in the face of the poor performances demonstrated over the last two seasons is folly!!!
-
Whose crying. It's a fact. When ESPN pundits are talking about phantom calls you know it's bad. I'm tired of the Brady rules. Tuck rule, going after QBs legs, breathing on the QB....etc.
-
Might means might...thanks for that revelation...lol...gee u iz smartez. Yes might means there is a possibility. I don't think there is ANY possibility.
-
FIXED! Saved 2 of New Englands TD drives. Flacco got destroyed on a play 2 second after he got rid of the ball and no call. Tom Brady gets breathed on and it's a penalty. Not to mention they let Tommy Boy intentionally ground the ball at least once. In the grasp he threw that ball into an open area on the field with no WR within 15 yards of the ball in any direction.
-
Maybe I misunderstood you. I was commenting on this point you were making: Unless I'm mistaken PART of your point was that Edwards might be good on a very very good team. Perhaps that was not the focus of your statement but that is what I was addressing. Trent could "SUCK" on a very good team but he couldn't be "good" on a very good team. I'm still smarting from that embarrassing performance from yesterday so I don't REALLY believe Trent could be good ANYWHERE right now.
-
My point is Dilfer SUCKED and they won a super bowl in spite of him. Just because he was on the team that won the super bowl doesn't mean he was good. He lost his job the year following immediately after winning by the way
-
HOORAY!!! There is hope for 2011!!!!
-
Uh.....yes...I'm denying it. Do you ever watch any Steelers games. Not trying to be a jerk but if it weren't for Ben's size and athleticism that line would have even MORE than the considerable number of sacks it already has to it's credit.
-
Outstanding and often over looked point!!!! This has been somewhat the basis of my arm strength argument against Trent. It is debatable as to whether Trent doesn't go deep often due to lack of arm strength or lack of balls but for sure D coordinators will take away what you like to do most of the time. Trent is amazing a checking down and throwing short passes. D coordinators are daring him to go mid long to long and so far he hasn't been effective taking advantage of it.
-
Sure if a perfect storm of circumstances were to occur. I guess I can't disagree with you. HELL Trent Dilfer even won a super bowl.
-
Some of those lines were not good. As I said in response to another post. Take a look at the sacks given up by some of those lines for some of those guys. Now also consider that because Ben Rothlesberger has that IT factor and can be a starting QB in this league he saves his team on average 2 in the grasp sacks a game due to his size, mobility and determination.
