Take another look at my post. With all of the injuries I share your concerns. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the offenses of the teams we played with our depleted roster. All I said is our defense wasn't terrible. I didn't say they we very good, awesome or dominant. Again. Injuries aside they are the LEAST of our problems.
-
Fewells defense is the one thing that hasn't been terrible. Their only bad game was against the best offense in the league the Saints AND they kept them under 17 points for 3 1/2 quarters. IMAGINE if the offense was even remotely competent? Other than the RIDICULOUS number of injuries the defense isn't the problem.
-
If the guy want's to play we could use him. It's not like anyone else is knocking on his door. With his distinguished career I don't know that he would want to play for US. But, as I said. I would give the guy a call.
-
Don't forget the front office makes the personnel moves. I doubt Jauron in his position REALLY wanted to make SOME of those moves.
-
We have to do something! We are ridiculously thin. He is a body and he knows what he is doing. If he doesn't want to sign fine. At least give the guy a call.
-
Our LB core is decimated. Time to bring in Derrick Brooks. The guy is old but he went to the pro bowl almost every year and he knows the Cover 2 cold from his days in Tampa.
-
Good question. Not sure the talent at those positions were really there.

I debated this at length with people. If we spent our #11 pick on a LT it would have been an admission that we should have paid Peters and never let him go. Why would you pay a completely unproven bust potential rookie at LT, the 2nd most important position on offense, 70% of the money Peters wanted to protect your QBs blind side instead of retaining your 26 year old 2 time pro bowler? DUMB ... DUH DUMB DUMB!!! They had to pretend that the answer was already on the roster to save face. When a huge hulking road grating career RT didn't turn out to be the answer at LT people refused to admit they could be so wrong about easily replacing Peters that they blamed it on Walker not trying enough. Spud Webb isn't going to be Shaq no matter how hard he tries. We tried to make Walker something he wasn't.
-
Eh ... these are the people that hated Peters so much they actually made themselves believe that he sucked and anyone could do his job. SUCKERS!!!!
-
I'm going to give him a pass too. He's missing 75% of his starting secondary and 33% of his starting LB core which is now at 66% after this game as well as wrecking any depth besides Harris. The defense has played just fine most games. Imagine if they actually got some help from the offense and special teams????
-
This should work well next year when we switch to the 3 - 4 under Bill Cowher
-
He was the biggest project. No matter how hard you try you can't teach speed. He was a junior coming out and is already as big as Schobel. Another year or so and my guess is he should be playing in the 265 range. We all knew he didn't have moves coming out of college just an incredible first step. Give it time.
-
The defense did a good enough job to win the game it was the offense as usual that didn't hold up their end of the bargain. I was just REALLY surprised that I didn't see Harris' number called. I want to see the guy in a regular season game. He was MAINLY a safety in high school and college but he is a LB for us. If as someone said he was a safety for this game due to injury I guess that explains it. Too bad. That guy needs to be on the field. He just looked like a play maker.
-
Again we had players dropping like flies on defense. Specifically the LBs. Where the hell is Nic Harris? We started a couple rookies but neither was Nic Harris. The guy looked fast and very effective in preseason. Is he Keith Ellison's back up or something? I don't like to see anyone get hurt but the only LB that is healthy IS Ellison and he is the guy we could do without IMO.

Look at Orton today: Clearly coaching matters
PDaDdy replied to Got_Wood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If Kyle Orton had that team but coached by Lovie Smith? Hell ya he would be better. I believe that the players he has around him are MUCH MUCH better on offense. And yes, McDaniels DOES also help but the WRs and TEs around him went from a D+ to an A. THAT is a bigger factor. -

Did I miss the part where the time machine comes in and makes your point valid???? DUDE Kyle Orton from 2008 became a 2009 Bronco not 2005 Kyle Orton. THAT is what McDaniels inherited. If you want to feel like you won some moral victory I'll give you that 2005 Orton sucked ass. The only point that matters is that the man and QB he became and was while still in Chicago in 2008 is what McDaniels got. McDaniels AND the WR and TEs on that team are helping Orton to continue to improve. You guys are ridiculous that lay the failure or success of a QB mainly on the coach. Next I suppose you'll bring up some stat for Orton in high school like that matters either. No how about showing me some character and commenting on Edwards 2008 stats with a better set of WR vs Orton 2008 stats? -

REALLY? Kyle Orton 2008 15games 2,972yds 18tds 12ints 79.6 WITH THE LEAGUES WORST WRS TO BOOT!!?!? You're kidding right? If THAT is atrocious what do you make of Trent's numbers from 2008? Trent Edwards 2008 14games 2,699yds 11tds 10ints 85.4 Orton put points on the board with worse WRs AND WE HAD THE EASIEST SCHEDULE IN THE NFL LAST YEAR! If Orton was atrocious there isn't a word in the English language that describes how bad Trent is. -

Completely different?!?!?!? LOL. Apparently this is the first time you have ever seen Orton play. Orton has been a good QB for a while. Move him from Chicago, where WR go to die according to Mushin Muhamed, to Denver with Eddie Royal, Brandon Marshall and Daniel Graham and SURPRISE!!! He's even better. Quit making excuses. Trent blows. The sooner you realize that the less it will hurt later when your delusion is shattered. -

Our line sucks and they can't remember the freakin' snap count. That being said it's no excuse for Trent SUCKING OUT LOUD!!! If you take some sacks, fine. When you have time throw the damn ball!!!!! When you DO throw the damn ball PUT IT ON THE MONEY!!! He blows. -

What are you talking about? We have 5 back up linemen. THEY'RE CALLED OUR STARTERS!!!!! -

Haven't read the previous posts but here IS what our problems are, stating the obvious of course: 1) Trent and Trent ONLY is responsible for throwing terrible, TERRIBLE down field throws, holding on to the ball too long and not having "enough" presence in the pocket to help his line. He and ONLY he is responsible for his personal horrible performance! WHEN WILL HE FINALLY ACCURATELY THROW A BALL OVER 5 YARDS IN THE AIR!?!?!?!?!? 2) Jauron is the TEAMS problem. HE should be benching people that can't perform OR remember the snap count. We looked sloppy as hell. It was an embaracement 3) You thought our old O-line was a bunch of under performing, fat, lazy, greedy and undeserving pro bowl bid recipients bastards. THIS LINE IS WORSE. Maybe in a year or so they will be competent but right now they can't remember a FREAKIN SNAP COUNT! I counted AT LEAST 10 penalties on the O-line alone, 8 of which were false starts. PLEASE don't blame the no huddle as at least 2 of the false start penalties were on the first play of the drive coming off of the side line. 4) For everyone that thought Bobby April should be the head or interim head coach GUESS AGAIN!!! Special teams gaffs have been a HUGE contributing factor to costing us 2 of 3 games. How did we go from first to worst in 1 year on special teams? I wan't Jauron AND Edwards heads served up on a platter to the fans. The wheels have officially flown off! Call up Cowher, Gruden, Schottenheimer, Holgrem...HELL resurrect Lombardy and Jack Kemp. I would rather prop his corpse up on the side lines and let Jack Kemp run the offense. -
I'm skeptical as well but I really think we might avenge our last horrific defeat at the hands of the Browns. I don't know that this will turn our season around but I think we could have a solid win. The weather should be OK, no Braylon Edwards, revenge on our minds, LT Bell playing this week. I think it's a good opportunity for us to have a good showing. Not setting this up as an if Edwards fails again he should be benched thread. I really think he will have a good game. If not for anything else it will give the "apologists" something to cling to. This week my money IS on the Bills.
-
Trust me I am NOT a fan of Trent Edwards but I think he will have a decent game tomorrow. Perhaps having LT Bell back and going against the last ranked defense in the NFL will bolster his confidence. The Browns don't run a 3 - 4 so hopefully Trent will look competent.
-
Bledsoe was decent for 2/3s of a year. Flutie was refreshing and for a short time had us all excited. Other than that. Yep, pretty much they have all sucked.
-
You should apply for a coaching position. I'm sure the employers in the NFL agree with you. LOL.
