Could Fitz actually save DJ's job?
PDaDdy replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ROFLOL. If Fitz has a noodle arm I can't even think of a way to describe how weak Trent's arm is. That is funny. Regardless of arm strength Fitz seemed to play with something Trent didn't ...BALLS!!!!!! He made mistakes to be sure but he also attempted and completed, by the way on the slant pass to Evans, passes Trent wouldn't have the guts to. -

No doubt. If only Jauron had inspired Jason Peters to play. It's not Peters fault, Jauron didn't inspire him!!! That line of reasoning seems to work for the Trent apologist camp. -

Hey AT LEAST he is not Trent which is the important point!!! -
So let me get this straight. So if he is a GREAT LT for a few years and then 4, 5, 6 years down the road they cut him some how your point is relevant? Please explain? Are you trying to make some point that matters by saying he could be a salary cap casualty years in the future? Really going out on a limb there aren't you? LOL

Upon further review... run defense
PDaDdy replied to ColdBlueNorth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We have light, presumably, fast DTs the can create penetration. They ARE NOT huge space hogging immovable objects. If you want that we should get Pat Williams and Ted Washington....Oh...wait....yaaaaa! -

I suppose if there was indeed a FB involved in those plays which there rarely was. If the offensive lineman and TE were one on one blocking that statement would be more relevant. Usually you have guys in the interior double teaming a DT. They also have a TE matched up on a DE or a LB sometimes. Even if we can't hold at the point of attack it should provide our LBs with opportunities to make plays. They have been over running the plays, paying no attention to cut back lanes and plane old just not been in the right spot several times. On Thomas' first of second big run Ellis could have played more to the right side of the defense and plugged the whole and taken out Thomas. Instead he over ran the hole that Thomas ran through and got cleaned out by a Jets guard. Off to the races it was. -

Seriously. When there are 5 offensive lineman + a TE + potentially a FB blocking 4 down defensive lineman LBs HAVE TO PLUG HOLES!!!! I definitely saw linebackers not filling holes more than I saw any supposed domination of Stroud or Williams. -
Buffalo's soon to be new head coach

What he said! Not necessarily in that order but right on. -
Alright this is getting ridiculous

PURE speculation but that would be hot!!! -

Agreed. The point being maybe Jauron isn't as much of the problem as we think We need talent and lots of it. We could start by just keeping the talent that we do develop instead of letting them walk. -

The world really is yin and yang I guess. Some want to replace Jauron because he is a bad coach. Several replacement candidates have been mentioned and have had their accomplishments diminshed as people attribute their success to the players around them or a system that was already in place. Makes you kind of wonder if the problem is Jauron, the talent, or the organizational system in place prior to his arrival??? I feel it's all 3 but people want to blame a single source for all of the Bills woes. -

Ah, so SYSTEMS not coaches or players win super bowls? -

Ah, ya didn't pay attention to that. Also VERY relevant. -

One name...Albert Haynesworth. Their entire defense AND offensive game plan was based around that monster destroying opposing offensive lines and run game. Shut em down with D pound them into submission with the O. Can't do that without Albert. -

Sounds like your saying having a good QB is a great ingredient for a super bowl recipe and that a good QB makes the coach not the other way around. -

SO. Let me get this straight. People are saying the Cowboys player TALENT won that super bowl not the COACH? Food for thought eh? -
BOLD statement. Lets not get ahead of ourselves but so far damn good for a rook that graduated late missing OTAs and I believe some of training camp due to that sports hernia.

Why are so many people turning a blind eye to Trent?
PDaDdy replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't agree that Edwards has really given us too much of a chance to win. Special teams gaffs did contribute highly to two of our losses though which Edwards didn't hurt us too bad in. Fitz looked really rough at points but played with balls. The one thing that sticks out in my mind big time is the on the money laser slant route pass to Lee Evans. In a microcosm that's the game. Trent can't, won't or doesn't make that pass hitting Lee in stride heading up and or across the field. For all of his bad passes and mistakes Fitz made the one pass Edwards never would have. Again I am curious to see what Fitz can do with a week of practice getting the first team reps with the 1's instead of holding a clipboard during the week. -
Man I wouldn't say that. People the guys is playing FREE safety. He is absolutely the last guy that should be stopping runners. Ask yourself what kind of job our front 4 and LBs did to allow a runner to get the third level with that kind of speed built up? I think Jones made one cut on each of those long runs and he was GONE!!!! The ONLY guy that looked good on those runs was McGee who has ridiculous speed and caught up to the jets fast runners.
-
His ball hawking skills and the ability to create all important turnovers seem to be ahead of his run support skills. Sure, he has made some mistakes in run support but so have all of our linebackers whose primary job it is to stuff the run holes. The guy is a rookie that is showing promise. Please lets consider this when determining the standards by which we measure him. I have also seen him make some good plays in the run as well as his mistakes.

I agree. We have seen Trent complete an impressive number of unimpressive passes in a row. How many points did his 5/5 and 43 yards put on the board again? -
Trivia questions A) How many INTs did all Bills safeties have in 2008? B) How many INTs does Byrd have in his first 2 games as a starter? [Answer Below] A) 0 B) 3

Good point. But we did win the game. As I'm sure you know some times showing the "willingness" to throw down field opens up the defense to the point where you can run a little bit. Winner winner chicken dinner! Fitz is 1 - 0 and made a 10 point comeback in regulation and got his team into scoring position to win the game on a long field goal! Let's see what he can do with a week of practice with the 1's! -

Simple. Balls and hitting WR instride heading up field not out of bounds for TDs. Hey I'm not saying Fitz is our new Jim Kelly but Fitz attempted everything that Trent didn't. He took some chances. He tried to use his WRs. HE HIT A WR IN STRIDE FOR A FREAKIN TD ON A SLANT. HE did this with the same WR that everyone says can't get open. He did this with no practice reps and ZERO time with the 1's. He did this behind the same offensive that Trent did. HE also got us our first offensive TD in the previous 126 plays before he got under center. I'm just excited to see if this guy will improve taking starter reps with the first string. Isn't it the defense a lot of TSSC members use to use? "He has a good win loss record." LOL. I didn't buy it either but the guy has more cahones than Trent! -
You mean the QB that got our offense it's first offensive TD in the previous 126 plays? Do you mean the QB that once preseason is over held a clip board for the starter and gets no time with the 1's in practice and no significant reps and still utilized his WRs? Are we talking about the guy that didn't "take on the personality of his coach" and wasn't "coached to play it safe" and showed balls and took chances made mistakes and more importantly had successes all in all? Yep I think we are talking about that guy. It was nice to see Trent complete a few passes but now it pisses me off because those from the Trent Sack Swinger Club will point to this as some sort of imaginary proof that Trent grew some balls and pulled his head out of his ass and was magically going to start throwing the ball over 7 yards in the air more frequently and get the team in the end zone. *sheesh*
