  1. This has what to do with Lynch? Seems like your only argument is that he isn't Corey Dillon and doesn't have WR speed which most RBs don't. Do you even watch the games? HE DOES TAKE IT UPON HIMSELF TO GAIN YARDS. Apparently you don't see those plays where he disappears and the pile moves an extra 2 to 5 yards. Apparently you don't see the plays where his "dancing" in the backfield and breaking a tackle to gain the team positive yards on what should have been a stop for a loss. Nice outlook sunshine. Try looking at what he does do well instead of the occasional play where he does try to get an extra 5yds+ instead of taking the 1 yard. Look at his performance ON THE FIELD not his lighthearted grin and attitude on the sideline. The Bengals also weren't great teams back then but they had a field stretching offense, could throw the deep ball and also run it. This takes pressure off of the run and short check down pass game. Those podunk Bengals if memory serves were HORRIBLE on defense. That is why their record was on par with our current Bills. Also, let's not forget that Dillon played 4 years with the multi-superbowl winning patriots!! Lynch has never had a good run blocking line and I have absolutely ZERO problem with the young "player". The young "man" has some maturing to do but his effort and drive are evident when he drives for extra yards. When opposing players say you have to practically kill him to get him down and stop his leg drive I take their assessment over yours.
  2. I agree. The fact that the coaching staff is using Jackson even less....is even MORE telling!! It means Lynch is better and our O-line can't run block for ****!
  3. Uhhh....PROBOWL......just sayin'. You don't make it by Western NY voter support.
  4. Ya, their yards per carry really reflected that. I do recall "the one play" which everyone is trying to use to define his entire performance for the day. I REALLY thought he had the first down to. Bad juke. I guess good players don't ever make mistakes.
  5. We can debate value all day but if McGahee fetched us a 3rd rounder Lynch is EASILY worth an early second rounder or late first only because of the lack of value you get for trading RBs. Hell let's trade Schobel, Denney, Williams, Poz and a bunch of other solid if not stellar players. I would argue Lynch is better at his position than they are there's. Let's get rid of them while we can get something for them.
  6. Ya good plan... 1) Let's keep the Kyle Williams, Keith Ellisons and Josh Reeds of the team. 2) After that get rid of anyone who has made a probowl because we know they suck even though fellow players, coaches and scouts think they are the best. 3) After we have gotten rid of any talent we have that is respected by other teams in the league we can get rid of any first round picks that are left because they are obviously all busts whether they have had time to develop or not. Once those guys are off the team we can field an all scout, undrafted free agent, division III team and be glad that they are all happy to play and be in Buffalo, try hard and work almost literally for peanuts. Once we are laughed out of the NFL we join the new league and get beaten by the Las Vegas Locos.
  7. Ya some bandit. He actually got paid what he deserved. It's not robbery if you deserve the paycheck.
  8. If you have a problem with 5yds/carry for Lynch yesterday you don't have a clue. If you still have a problem with it, be HONEST, what do you think of Jacksons 3.1yds/carry??? I will assume you won't answer because most people on internet forums don't have any integrity and can't be honest or god forbid admit they were actually wrong about something. Also please save any tired excuses of Jackson needs more touches to see what he can do. Both had 9. With the lack of holes BOTH RBs had I would say Lynch was wearing combat boots and Jackson the little pink booties. Even if you think he could get more yards than he does I will take 4.5 - 5yds a carry ALL DAY AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS!!! People have balked at the statement before but a lot of Lions fans used to complain that Barry Sanders danced too much. All he did was get 1000yds a year and I would guess a pretty respectable number of yards per carry. Everyone likes to use the offensive line as an excuse for whatever QB is behind center. WHY ARE PEOPLE SO CLUELESS WHEN IT COMES TO UNDERSTANDING HOW POOR LINE PLAY ALSO AFFECTS A RB!!! For those that think Lynch is too much of a dancer imagine him behind a good O-line that can blow open holes. Also go back and check out his probowl performance that you though he didn't deserve. He had the highest yds/carry of all of the AFC backs and I think ALL RBs in the probowl.
  9. COME ON PEOPLE!!! Did I miss something????? Lynch 9 carries for 43 yards rushing, almost 5yds per carry Jackson 9 carries for 28 yards rushing, just over 3yds per carry I don't know why we didn't use him MORE!!!! Get the facts before you run a guy down!!!!
  10. Again I think the important stat that is missing is how far down field is Ellison making his tackles? A guy like Ray Lewis makes a lot of tackles and it's a good thing. He is making them near the line of scrimmage and the Ravens are shutting down the opposing offense. I would guess, and no one can provide a stat to the contrary, that Ellison is making tackles after substantial gains!!!!
  11. I took a quick look but I think the ONLY and most important things was how far from the line of scrimmage he made the tackle.
  12. Very interesting stat indeed! I think he might be the anti London Fletcher. Given the number of rushing yards our defense gives up I look at that stat in a negative light. Let's not forget he is the only LB that hasn't missed at least 2 games due to injury. Perhaps opposing defenses run at him because he is a known weakness? He's not blowing people up in the backfield or at the line of scrimmage I think that when he takes a proper angle and doesn't get wiped out by bigger defenders he tackles guys effectively enough. People complained that Fletcher made all of his tackles down field but our defense at that time gave up FAR fewer yards.
  13. Obvious reason. He is replacing a probowler! He is manning the second most important position on the offensive side of the ball! He is NOT good right now regardless of how he compares to his other inexperienced linemates. Not to mention the penalties!!!
  14. Pounding on the defense only works when you are up and protecting a lead while the defense is tired. If anything Lynch should start. See if we can establish that pounding run game. If we get behind perhaps we use more Jackson middle of the field and utilize Lynches nose and tough running and nose for the end zone in the red zone.
  15. Oh how the tables have turned. Now that Fitz is QB somehow the line has been better? A QB with pocket presence that can move around can make a bad line not look quite as bad. Merrideth was getting SMOKED when Peppers lined up on his side and Bell got run by a few times as well. The run blocking was TERRIBLE. This line has made NO significant improvement other than actually being able to remember the snap count!!!!
  16. Here is my take. Anyone that doesn't think Donte will come back as the starting SS is fooling themselves. With the emergence of Byrd, Donte might finally show if he can really step up his game to match the expectations of some. I'm not trying to make excuses for Donte's often mediocre play but he also has been a great mentor and leader for the secondary. He has meetings at his house all of the time, he teaches the young guys, he makes bold statements that we have unfortunately not been able to back up as a team but he tries and has a positive attitude about it. One option is this and it comes with an obvious problem. Whitner could be the run down SS and Wilson the pass down SS. Based on what I have seen this might be the BEST use of all of their talents. I have said since Wilson played a year or 2 ago that he deserves playing time. That being said I have to imagine that Donte is getting paid a lot more money than Wilson. I would hate to lose his leadership and a mentor for our young secondary but we should consider trading him to see what we can get for him if he doesn't really come alive being paired with Byrd.
  17. Fred Jackson's performance since Brad Butler went out would seem to say otherwise
  18. Again, doesn't seem to bother Fitz. IF we assume similar game plans it just means Trent has no stones to throw it down field. IF we assume that they put in a different game plan for Fitz then it must mean that Trent doesn't like the plays that AVP uses with Fitz. There was an article last week about putting in some plays that Fitz was more comfortable with as opposed to what TE is comfortable with. That says it all to me. One way or the other it's on Trent!!!!
  19. Might be time to let that apology go. Fitz has the same coaching staff and he doesn't seem to have a problem trying, and sometimes successfully, throwing to his WRs. All things being equal Fitz is trying and has put TDs on the board with his arm and was at the wheel when we got our first rushing TD since December. In actuality Fitz was playing with a third string RT getting his first start so the line had even less talent than when TE was running the ship.
  20. I'm not wearing rose colored glasses which was the other side to the statement I made. Who knows what Fitz can do with more than a week of first team reps with the ones? He hasn't nailed the starting job by COMPLETELY outplaying Edwards but it's a good start. Fitz passes the eyeball test in ways that Trent doesn't. Those points have been discussed. Teams win games as I say and that is why I never accepted the Trent apologist defense of "he just wins games". I would rather have a guy at the helm that takes some chances and gives you a chance to win than a guy that gives you more of a chance for a safe loss.
  21. Accept for throwing to WRs, the TDs and the wins....you might have something there.
  22. What was at fault was 3 points from the offense. I agree that muffed punt "helped" Cleveland win but does anyone really think we were magically going to put more points on the board? Best case scenario was game ended in a tie in all likelihood.
  23. "great"... I don't know about that at all but YES I think Fitz would have given us a much better chance to win that game starting over Trent.
  24. Whoa whoa whoa! Poor O-line play is only an excuse for Trent!!!!!
  25. Give him time to get on the same page as our WRs. He's had one week of practice getting the majority of the reps and playing with the first string offense.
