  1. Last I checked the Jets don't owe the Bills anything. Almost any coach will say that it is their job to stop the other team not the other way around. Yea I used to hate it when teams would run up the score when I played, but deep down I was more pissed off at myself and our team for not getting the job done.
  2. ....and not to mention the obvious connections between the Ravens and Jets
  3. I really don't believe moving Moats to OLB will cut into the amount of playing time Maybin sees. The reason I'm saying this is because Maybin has been seeing most of his snaps as a DE in our 4-3 package this year....I really can't recall him seeing many snaps at OLB yet. Hopefully, the Bills will wise up and start using Coleman a little more, especially as a DE when they line up in a 4-3. I was impressed with what I saw from Coleman during the preseason and I don't see how he wouldn't be an upgrade over Maybin.
  4. Interesting....however, I couldn't agree more with the comment from Prior Knowledge in the response section: "NCAA is a joke. Everybody makes money except the athletes. Coaches make millions off them, schools make millions... Schools advertise the players' names, but the players do not even get a percentage of the jerseys sold with their name on it. So the players lose the rights to their OWN NAME!!!" Here is a link to an interesting article that was just in the Buffalo News on the subject of NCAA players being compensated for their sport: http://www.buffalonews.com/business/article194912.ece
  5. I do agree that Maybin needs to gain some size and strength, but he was doing band squats in that video. Who knows how much the resistance is, but it definitely makes a big difference when they are used on the bench and squat. Maybin does however need to gain about 20 lbs, which may seem like a lot, but most of that does not have to be muscle. Maybin body fat percentage is probably around 5% right now which is unnecessary for a OLB. Take a look at some side by side photos of Maybin and other top OLB around the league and you will obviously see a huge difference. The one thing that I can't understand however is why the Bills didn't address this in the offseason. It's not like players can only be fined for being too heavy. His age can't be used as an excuse either, as there are metabolic tests that can be done to determine how many calories he needs to take in per day to gain x amount of pounds. Aside from Maybin's size, I loved seeing Darryl Talley rip on him for his his useless 4 point stance. Unless it is 4th and 1 and you are planning on cutting an OL, there is no reason to be in a 4 pt stance. Hopefully, Maybin learns how to use his hands more too, because as of right now he is just firing right into his guy with his hands in, and then occasionally he will try to spin but it is never off of a move.
  6. Was about to start a topic on this after watching some of the games this week. I think papazoid has a very good point, and many of you aren't giving enough credit to some of these players. Here are some of the players I wish the Bills would have kept: Justin Bannan Contract: Ravens - 4 years $8.1 million. Denver - 5 years $22 million. Wouldn't have had to draft Troup in the 2nd as Bannan would rotate with Kyle Williams. Ron Edwards Contract: Chiefs - 4 years $7.5 million. I realize that Ron Edwards was somewhat injury plagued while he was here, but the guy showed a lot of promise when healthy. Who would you rather see rotating at DE right now, Aaron Maybin or Ron Edwards? I believe Edwards would even be an upgrade over Stroud with the way he is playing. Antoine Winfield Contract: Vikings - 6 years $34.8 million. 5 year $36 million extension. You just don't let players like Winfield go, and I don't wanna here the how could we afford him excuse. The Vikings are a small market team yet they manage to keep their star players, and sign free agents. The Vikings have extended such stars as Bryant McKinnie, Antoine Winfield, Kevin Williams, and Pat Williams. Not only have the resigned these players, they have added players like Steve Hutchinson and Jared Allen through free agency. Fact is, the Bills could have kept both Williams and Winfield they just chose not to. Pat Williams Contract: Vikings - 3 years $13 million. 3 year $22 million extension. See above. Even with only these 4 players, the Bills probably wouldn't have made the Marcus Stroud trade, we would have Dwan Edwards, Ron Edwards at DE, Pat Williams at NT, and Williams and Bannan could play either NT or DE. That front 3 rotation wouldn't look all that bad, and the Bills would have been able to focus on our LB's and OL through past drafts. I realize a lot of this is flawed because the Bills didn't play a 3-4 then and this is all in hindsight, but most of these players could also play a 4-3. Also, if the Bills didn't switch to a 3-4, you could even add London Fletcher to this list. Letting players like Clements and Greer walk weren't terrible moves, especially Clements, however the Bills are gonna remain in neutral if they keep letting talent walk and drafting replacements.
  7. In my opinion, Luck is the best QB available if he enters the draft. Knowing our luck though, the Bills will probably get the #1 pick and Mallet and Luck won't declare.
  8. I like what Kolb can bring to the table when healthy, but if the opportunity presents itself, I would rather see Andrew Luck as the next Bills QB. I can see Chan signing Thigpen for a year or two on the cheap and letting him start for the 2011 season. Luck would then have the opportunity to start in 2012, and hopefully by then Spiller will be an impact player at RB, Wood, Levitre, & Nelson will continue to develop, we add a solid number 2 receiver through free agency, and we fix our tackle problem. I could see us taking an OT in the 2nd or 3rd next year and in the 1st in 2012, that is barring any free agent signings. Drafting a receiver in the 2nd this year wouldn't be bad either because it would give him a year to develop before Luck is starting.
  9. While I hate to turn this into a QB vs O-line thread, Tony Ugoh is a perfect example of why a QB can excel even with some bad lineman. Ugoh started for 2 seasons at LT and Peyton Manning was still able put up big numbers. I try to catch every Colts game each season, and Peyton Manning makes his line look good with the way he moves in the pocket and his quick release. Almost half of the sacks on Trent have been from DE's speed rushing around the edge, and every time Trent fails to step up into the pocket (when there is one). Getting back on topic...I wouldn't mind seeing the Bills bring in Ugoh for a look. Bringing him in isn't going to hurt anything, and I would much rather see him over at RT then Cornell Green.
  10. You had me all the way until the last sentence. Ralph isn't gonna fire the two good ole boys after one season because he could probably care less.
  11. Quote from Chan - “I don’t know that I have the answers right now,” said Gailey. “It’s probably taking longer than I had hoped that it would, but we’re going to find the answers to whatever it is and make whatever adjustments need to be made. That’s my job. It’s to get it fixed.” It seems like “I don’t know that I have the answers right now” is going to be Chan's go to line for the year.
  12. I forgot that playing a video game requires 24 of the 24 available hours in a day. I'm 22 years old and play video games for about 2 -3 hours a week, and amazingly, I also work 30 hours a week at a local bank, work out 5 days a week, and I'm pursuing my MBA at Canisius. I know this all seems impossible, but let me explain it to you slowly. I sleep 7 hours a day, thereby leaving 6 hours for work, 1 hour for the gym, and 4 hours for school. Add in about 2 hours of travel and eating, and we arrive at 13 hours. OMG.....can you believe it....there is still 4 hours left in the day for free time. I do still live with my parents, however I have a brand new car, free food, and I will be graduating from Canisius College without owing $1 for student loans. If you don't believe me on any of this here is a link to my facebook. I am almost willing guarantee that I am in better shape than you have ever been in, and amazingly I do it while playing video games for a couple of hours a week. Maybe next time you should actually think before being a douche to a guy over the internet. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=626695340#!/settings/?tab=privacy&ref=mb
  13. People love to kill the messenger on this one, but everything goes back to Ralph Wilson. For those of us who aren't 30+, the Bills have been nothing but a disappointment for the past 10 years. I'm 22 years old and haven't missed a game since Bledsoe's first season. Sadly, those first 3 seasons are the best memories I have regarding the Bills. People seem to forget that not everyone was there to witness the 4 straight Super Bowls. The same people wonder why the young people who post here are so pessimistic, well to be honest, that's all my generation knows with this team. Some posters have their memories of Kelly and Thurman tearing it up, my generation has the Cleveland and Dallas game on Monday Night, the Patriots game on Sunday Night, and the end of the season Pittsburgh game in 2004. I have seen the Bills beat the Patriots once over the past 8 years. During my lifetime, Ralph Wilson has shown no interest in running a successful organization, and until he does I will have no respect for the man. I do have to give him credit though, the man has been selling the fans a bag of sh*#t for the past 10 years, and people are buying it up like it's gold. That's all I have for now....I don't want to upset those who think I owe Ralph my first born child for keeping the team in Buffalo all these years.
  14. I agree that the Bills can't be transformed into a winner in 1 year, but with how bad Cornell Green has played he really shouldn't have made the 53 man roster. If were gonna pay a stop-gap player 3 mil for the year he better at least be average. Personally, I believe that Jamon Meredith and Urbik have nice upside, and hopefully one of them see time at RT before this season is over. This team needs more free agent signings like Andra Davis and Dwan Edwards, and a couple more good drafts before it can compete. The one position that worries me as much as RT and QB is our situation at WR. I really don't see the Bills ever bringing in a high priced WR, especially considering Lee Evans contract, and a rookie WR isn't going to be ready to make a significant impact until his second season at the earliest.
  15. This was only one game and I hate to judge CJ on that one game, but I believe that Fred Jackson is a better fit to start right now. CJ is obviously a more dynamic back and he can score at anytime, but if this team is gonna put any solid drives together it would best serve to have Fred as the starter. Last year there were many runs where Jackson would turn a 0 yd play into a 3 yd gain with his ability to take a hit and break free or at the least fall forward for an extra yard or two. Not to mention, CJ looked extremely weak in his blitz pickups yesterday, and until Trent stretches the field teams are gonna keep crowding the box and sending extra guys on the blitz leaving us with a liability in pass protection. Once again, none of this means that Jackson is a better back than CJ, but right now Jackson gives our team the best chance to win. None of this will matter though if Chan can't gameplan any better than last week. That was probably the worst offensive gameplan I have seen in years out of this team, and that's saying something.
  16. I cannot stand Trent anymore.....he has nothing to lose and he still can't pull the trigger. This guy has no business being an NFL quarterback. He will never have the balls to be a leader.
  17. Does Edwards know that completing that pass would be worse than an incompletion....what an idiot
  18. the odds of converting a 4th and 11 and kicking a field goal have to be better than recovering this onside kick and having to score a TD...
  19. second time edwards has been caught looking....draw play here would be huge risk huge reward play
  20. Wow.....Sporano torpedoed that drive. Miami should have kept pounding the ball. Hopefully our O can capitalize.
  21. dumb call to pass there by sporano
  22. I love how you have kept your mouth shut this entire time people have been calling you out, and then the Bills catch the Dolphins off guard with the no huddle and your back calling people idiots. Not to mention that TD came off of a questionable call and blown coverage. Trent and Chan Gailey's play calling have still been awful regardless of the outcome.
  23. i would have kicked the field goal there especially considering lindell already hit a 53 yarder....can't say that i'm upset with the result though
  24. holy santa claus ****!!
  25. I don't care how bad your offensive line is playing going 10-19 for 39 yards is unacceptable for a starting NFL QB. If the Bills goal is to win this game they need to make a change. I see other people can already see similarities to the Cleveland game. Trent's play has been doing this entire team an injustice.
