  1. I really need to see the percentage of first down runs for the Bills compared to the NFL average.
  2. I haven't been a huge Gilmore supporter, but you can't ask for much better coverage. Extremely unlucky that the ball didn't hit his arm on that.
  3. The entire line hasn't been getting abused, but it seems like there is one player getting beat quickly each time that just blows everything up
  4. Bills are gonna need to force a turnover at some point today if they're gonna win. Odds just aren't in your favor if you're -2 in turnover at the end of the day
  5. 9 times out of ten this has been canned incomplete this year...we'll see
  6. Honestly, at some point the NFL needs to have someone provide reasoning to the public for certain calls in the week following the game. From flags getting picked up and waved off each game, to the no call at the end of the San Diego game, and then phantom calls like that personal foul - enough is enough already. I wouldn't mind something similar to what the NHL does with their explanations for suspensions.
  7. I don't believe that the show is a distraction. If anything, the show is probably a positive. For starters, the show can help expose the Bills to a national audience, which doesn't happen too often. And unlike a primetime game, where the Bills may not add many fans, a lot of people take an interest in the team who participates in Hard Knocks. Think about it - the show often focuses on the underdog/fringe players because people love rooting for an underdog. And in the same regard, I think people will gravitate towards the Bills, because lets be honest, they've been an underdog for the past 14 years. Not to mention, out of the previous 8 seasons, the participating team went to the playoffs 4 out of 8 times, and 5 out of 8 times the participating team finished with a record of 9-7 or better.
  8. Don't you just love the attitude of some Bills fans?? Apparently, if you want to be a Bills fan anymore, then you need to be an expert in rationalizing mediocrity. It's kind of sad that the "loser mentality" that's seemingly an innate characteristic of the organization has now trickled down to fans. I mean sure, you may never get promoted at your work, but why would you want to when you'll just have to pay more taxes.
  9. I have no problem with their approach; however, if they let Byrd walk, then they better at least get one top 20 FA (i.e. Graham, Decker, Verner, Talib). This team has never been close enough to being a playoff team to continually let top 10 talent walk. Another thing to think about is approaching FAs who need to be re-signed. C.J Spiller, Aaron Williams and Marcell Dareus will all be free agents in 2015, and if they hit the open market, each would command top 10 money. So it won't be a big deal if they take the dust settles approach, that is assuming they don't just sit on their hands all offseason.
  10. If it was a different player that Spikes hurt, then maybe I think it would become an issue. But honestly, I think Fred is a big enough man/leader to realize it's about getting better as a team. If anything, I think fans hold grudges much longer than players, since fans take things more personal. Players realize that it's a business and that they can't, nor do they have to, be all buddy-buddy with everyone on the team.
  11. Although I have to admit that, like most of you, I've always felt that Spikes was a scumbag...I still wouldn't mind seeing him in a Bills uniform next year. He is one of the better inside linebackers in the league against the run, and the Bills could use an upgrade at ILB. Not to mention, he should come fairly cheap and he is only 26. With the ability of Spikes to take on blockers, I think Kiko would be free to do what he does best - rack up tackles. And for those of you who like to go by PFF grades: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/01/01/2014-free-agent-linebackers/ I wouldn't be too upset with: Jerry Hughes (Will) - Kiko Alonso (Mike) - Brandon Spikes (Ted) - Manny Lawson (Sam)
  12. While I'm not sold on Manziel, I hate when people say that you can't draft a QB in the 1st in back-to-back years. In the past, this was definitely true, but not currently. Before, the salary implications of drafting a 1st round QB each year would have crushed a franchise; however, that isn't the case with the new salary structure for the draft. Honestly, as long as there is a QB on the board in the 1st that the Bills believe is close (+- 5 picks) to where they pick, then they should continue to draft them until one sticks. Give each QB a minimum of 2 years, and if they show something, then you give them a 3rd year. Most rookie deals are for 5 years too, so this wouldn't be an issue. The Bills had a top 3 running game and a top 15 defense this year, but they still finished 6-10. I think that goes to show how important it is to have a franchise QB in today's NFL.
  13. I've been telling people the same thing for the past couple of weeks. Most of the big plays against haven't been because of a lack of talent (which is a great sign). More so, players have occasionally had lapses in coverage or haven't maintained their gaps on running plays. The perfect example of this would be the opening TD run in the Jags game. The Bills had loaded the box, Kiko took a couple of false steps inside, and then he was just a little too late getting to his gap.
  14. I would argue that any team who doesn't have a top ten QB thinks that the QB is their biggest weakness, and in Houston's case, it's possible that Schaub was indeed that guy. However, I think Schaub is right around the top 15 range, where on any given Sunday, he can give his team a chance to win. For example, last year they were knocked out of the playoffs because their vaunted defense gave up 41 pts to the Patriots. Schaub threw for 343 yds and had 2 TDs...he wasn't the problem. Now, I will agree that it's unlikely Schaub would have the same numbers on the Bills (due primarily to not having a WR like Andre Johnson); however, I believe that if Fitz could throw for 3,800 with a roster with even less talent (David Nelson & Naaman Roosevelt were the Bills #2 and #3 WRs), then I don't think Schaub would do too bad. Basically, he is a Fitzpatrick, but with a slightly better skill set. And where this team is at right now, I think they could be very similar to the Chiefs with the right player utilization. The Chiefs have a solid running game, an aggressive defense, and they get proper game management out of the QB position. Not too unlike the Bills, that is, except for the QB. Which also brings me to the point that this team would probably still be in the hunt if Andy Reid were the Bills head coach. But that is an argument that should be discussed in a different topic.
  15. Do you really not believe that Schaub is better than EJ at this point in their careers? If the Bills had Schaub, they would of had a good chance to win the New England game, the Cleveland game, the Cinci game, the Kansas City game, and the Atlanta game. Now, while the Bills could have won all of those games with Schaub, I'll concede that maybe one or two could be argued against. So, at best, the Bills could be 9-4 with Schaub, and at worst, they would most likely be 7-6. As I said in my post above, Schaub was benched for a rough 3 game stretch where he faced Seattle and the 49ers, who are the two best pass defenses in the NFL (if you go by opposing QB rating - 69.4 and 73.3 respectively). So, what about the games before that? Two wins and one loss. During which Schaub averaged 279 yards per game, 6 TDs and 4 INTs. Not to mention, Schaub has a proven track record better than any Bills QB since Drew Bledsoe.
  16. Not sure if anyone saw the Rams-Cardinals game, but this call was pretty ridiculous for many reasons. Not only did the refs make the wrong call, but they blew the play dead as the Rams player was about to return the fumble for a TD. And then, to put the icing the cake, they flagged the Rams for "going personally after the Quarterback", even though Palmer was relatively close to the play.
  17. Fitzpatrick's arm doesn't even come close to Schaub's. If anything, Schaub reminds of Drew Bledsoe, albeit with a much less lengthy resume and a little less lively arm. If the Bills had Schaub this year, they would most likely still be in the playoff hunt. The entire Texans organization has been a mess this year, and it seemed like every game Kubiak would start one QB and then yank them out halfway through the game. Essentially, Schaub was benched for a rough 3 game stretch where he faced Seattle and the 49ers, who are the two best pass defenses in the NFL (if you go by opposing QB rating - 69.4 and 73.3 respectively). So, what about the games before that? Two wins and one loss. During which Schaub averaged 279 yards per game, 6 TDs and 4 INTs. Now, in regards to EJ, I don't think he should have even started this year. Sure, some QBs are ready right out of college, but 0 analysts projected EJ to be that type of guy. Almost everyone had him pegged for what he is, and that is a raw prospect with amazing potential. I think it would serve him well to sit behind a player like Schaub for a year or two, and he really needs to have a veteran QB to learn from. Think about it - who's brain can EJ pick right now? He doesn't have a QB coach (Hackett has assumed that role), Kevin Kolb may end up brain dead with one more ill-placed mat, and Thad Lewis is only in his 2nd year.
  18. The guy who just got killed essentially did the same thing as Kiko Alonso, but in truth, it wasn't even as bad as Alonso. Kiko broke into an individual's home, albeit in a drunken stupor and with no criminal intent, but it still applies. I guess it's a good thing some of you weren't the homeowners involved in his case, otherwise the Bills would be without one hell of a linebacker.
  19. Didn't you know that Mrags is 150-0 in street fights? His body is like steel, and neither knifes or guns can stop him. Why should he think of a logical solution to a problem when he can just bash someone's skull in? If Mrags has seen, or been involved in, many fights, I highly doubt he would feel so invincible. Almost any man can cause permanent damage with one punch, and in most cases, it just isn't worth it. There are essentially two scenarios that can follow a fight when you're an adult: #1) You win, and then you have to deal with the police and possibly a lawsuit. #2) You lose, and you're possibly left permanently damaged or dead. Finally, I'm sure it will be a surprise to Mrags to find out that in any state, you can't just kill people if they are attempting to steal your property. Unless you are in imminent danger, you have no right to take action into your own hands. Furthermore, for people like Mrags, who feel like they can circumvent such laws by confronting the perpetrator, it's a often a rude awakening when they find out that they still have a duty to retreat if at all possible (even in stand-your-ground states). Now, if you were in your home or in the car during the break-in, then by all means feel free to do whatever you like, but that wasn't the case here.
  20. I would suggest getting your facts straight before you decide to bash someone. Glenn and Urbik were both out for a couple of games last season. Also, Hairston, Pears, Wood and Rineheart all missed games last year. Maybe you don't remember, but at one point, the Bills were down to just four offensive lineman after the San Fransisco game. So, if having almost all of your lineman miss time last year is the epitome of good health, then by all means continue to bash away.
